  1. Which is why I prefer BaseRuns. Each A’s blowout counts as one win and has no impact on other games the team has played.
  2. Interesting. Tellez is a really nice floor. Is Mervis's defense good? Because Tellez is a butcher at first.
  3. It sure looked and felt that way with Robert, Anderson, Giolito, et al. But then the farm system didn't only fail to provide depth behind those great players, it failed entirely. The recent White Sox are a good example of how badly things can go with a stars and scrubs approach to roster-building.
  4. I didn't realize just how much bad luck the Cubs have rolled into this season. I knew they had drawn the short straw a few times but... yikes. The Cubs are 15-16 right now. Their pythag record is 20-11. Even more telling, their BaseRuns record - which I find to be more accurate than pythag because it treats each game as a discrete event, as it should be - is 21-10. They should be scoring 5.10 runs a game while giving up only 3.47 runs a game. That 21-10 BaseRuns record is good for third in all of baseball behind the Rays and Braves. https://www.fangraphs.com/depthcharts.aspx?position=Standings
  5. I just gave myself whiplash when I realized that Google was founded four months after Wood struck out 20 batters.
  6. This should be a fun one to tune into. Day game at Wrigley, Steele on the mound, Mervis likely to be in the lineup!
  7. Fun! I know what I'll be doing this afternoon!
  8. Ah, I didn't realize he hit the IL. It's been a real week for me.
  9. It's fun to see Amaya in Chicago but this whole three catchers thing is not awesome.
  10. Woof. This has been a bad baseball week. Let's go ahead and beat one of the worst teams in baseball. Just this once.
  11. We're getting the old domain back! In a week. But still!
  12. Hey, a person responded. I'm slightly more optimistic this might get resolved at some point.
  13. I had to pick something that could be used as a permanent fallback in case we can't get the domain back to Tim. And having found out that this registrar just lost a $3m lawsuit to Facebook for cybersquatting, things feel pretty bleak.
  14. Trust me, no one is more upset about it than me. I've spent the past six weeks working to build up NSBB and its traffic and due to a registrar that won't do its job, all of that work has basically been torpedoed due to no fault of anyone here unless we can pry the domain out of the registrar's hands and back to Tim's control.
  15. Woof, I just looked into this a bit and a lot of things make a lot more sense right now. That company appears to be shady af.
  16. Well, it's been a frustrating few days in pretty much every way possible. A win against a terrible Nationals team would be nice.
  17. I just wrote something up on this. The answer is... maybe? I mean, I hope not but I'm so pissed off and disappointed by the domain registrar that anything is possible. We're going to do all we can to pry access to the domain back into Tim's hands (and then we can transfer it to us) but I'm not holding my breath given the lack of responses and incredibly ****ty support we've received. The good news is that when/if we transition back to the NSBB domain, it'll be mostly invisible to users.
  18. Some time over the weekend, some settings changed on our domain name and the site went down. You probably know that part. But what you probably didn't know is that we've been trying - almost entirely unsuccessfully - to contact the domain registrar for a couple of months to get proper access to the domain. That hasn't happened. But we can't go without a website forever so until we properly sort out the domain issue, the entire site is now back under the domain NorthSideCubs.com! All of your logins, passwords, and content is on the new site, it's merely under the new domain. If you have problems with anything regarding the site, please contact me at brock.beauchamp@northsidebaseball.com (yes, the old email still works). We hope to have the old domain back soon but if that happens, the transition back will be invisible to you (because we'd finally control the domain and can do things properly). That's all for now. See you soon!
  19. We don't know how temporary the change is but we had to move domains for reasons beyond our control. Some time over the weekend, some settings changed on our domain name and the site went down. You probably know that part. 20. Long story short, we're being hosed by our domain registrar. Years ago, Tim bought the domain from a company, that company dished the service to another company, those companies stopped working together, and now we have no control over the old domain northsidebaseball.com. After repeated requests to gain access for the past two months, we've gotten nowhere. We're going to keep working on this - obviously - but we can't go without a site while this (awful) company keeps ghosting us or giving us the runaround. So the site is back under this new domain until we can retrieve the old domain. All your accounts, information, and passwords are the same as the old site.
  21. Anyone who wants to claim tomorrow’s game thread, do so here.
  22. Still no game thread so I'm doing it! The Marlins looks surprisingly competent this season and the Cubs are spot-starting Kilian. Could be an interesting day.
  23. I'll leave it up to you and also sent a message to @David. If there's no thread 30 minutes before game time, just go ahead and create one. I'm out of town this weekend so I'm away from the computer most of the time.
  24. My middle name is Beauregard. God, that’d be so embarrassing if true.
