  1. I went into word filters today because I spotted some missing filters and... Because we merged multiple forum instances into one and the forum software didn't accurately convert many of the filters, there were approximately 600 word filters from which to sort. The deeper I dug, the messier it became until I ultimately had to start over with a clean slate. I've put back some of the obvious ones, replacing with what I *think* should be horsefeathers where appropriate, but I'm sure I missed a ton of stuff. So if you see an omission, just share it here.
  2. MLBTR just posted a rather lengthy story about Chicago's bullpen-building strategy and the emergence of Mark Leiter Jr. It's a good read on both the Cubs' strategy regarding the pen and how well it has worked with Leiter Jr. (though maybe not so much overall).
  3. Splitting this out because it's an interesting standalone topic. I didn't realize it had been that long since Wrigley hosted and... Cleveland four times? That's absurd. It's ****ing Cleveland.
  4. As players sign, please list them here! It really helps me keep track of which players to promote and make sure the tracker stays updated.
  5. I hope they bow to public relations and keep both. It makes them a worse team over the long haul.
  6. I agree, though selling both would bring back quite a return.
  7. To be clear, I don't have anything about Nolan Arenado, he seems like a perfectly reasonable chap who was kinda done dirty by the Colorado Rockies (though being forcibly booted out of that organization is something of a blessing). Jon Heyman asked him a few questions the other day and Arenado says he isn't expecting a trade but wouldn't be surprised by one, either. Things are bleak in St Louis. The Cardinals aren't used to losing like this and it appears no one really knows how to handle their current struggles. Things were obviously very wrong when Marmol heaved Willson Contreras under the bus and while the Cards have put together a couple of small winning streaks, they've gone right back to losing again afterward. Truth be told, I hadn't even considered an Arenado trade. While he's aging toward his mid-30s, he's still very productive with the bat and his contract is quite reasonable through 2027, given that the Rockies are on the hook for $5 million per year for the next three years. It's quite obvious the Cardinals will be selling but to what extent? View full rumor

  9. I shot them an email, hopefully they respond. The work they do is fantastic and we will definitely find a way to get them paid for it if they're interested in such a thing. Now that we run three sites, we can leverage all three to pay these draft folks pretty well.
  10. Oh, without a doubt the RD is more telling than any single series. I think the most important aspect of the Yankees series is that the Cubs just need to start rattling off Ws or that run differential isn't going to matter.
  11. Do you know how to get in contact with this person? I see their Twitter is locked, anyone have an in there?
  12. You mean just a draft overview page with all relevant information such as dates, times, etc? That's a good idea, I'll add it to the list.
  13. We do multiple threads for a couple of reasons: 1. It makes it more accessible to users who aren't hammering the refresh button all day long (sorry you goons, other people exist, too) 😃 2. It helps drive up author page counts, which means we pay them more because our payment methods are based on views
  14. I get what you're saying - and you're not really wrong - but this division is weak and it's early enough that the trade market hasn't materialized yet anyway. The Cubs aren't missing anything by punting on a decision today while the team still has a chance to move back into contention. In essence, wins are good and it's not hurting anything to stay neutral in the trade market for the time being, given that the trade market doesn't really exist yet.
  15. What are you all thinking of our draft coverage so far this year? Any comments on the tracker or things that could be improved?
  16. Six unanswered runs to beat the Yankees in New York and win the series. Nice.
  17. That's definitely possible, though I think it better serves the Cubs to take what prospects they can get and rebuild in the offseason.
  18. I don't want to officially give up on the Cubs quite yet but it sure feels like Hendricks is auditioning for other teams right now.
  19. A really early start today. The Cubs surprisingly received an excellent performance from Taillon last night, more of the same would be welcome from Smyly. Fun fact: the Cubs helped knock the Yankees out of the final Wild Card position last night.
  20. Nice win, didn't see Taillon shutting down the Yankees like that.
  21. I know others feel differently but I'm often relieved when players bow out of the ASG, particularly pitchers.
