  1. Last night was quite the rollercoaster. The Cubs won going away while the Cards showed their ass all night long. Worst. Franchise. Beat them again, please. Also, welcome back to .500, Cubbies! Chicago now sits only four games out of the final Wild Card berth.
  2. This team is really determined to keep things interesting for as long as possible.
  3. Oh, I absolutely agree with all of this. I'm only pointing out that there IS a long-term risk involved in not trading Stroman and/or Bellinger. That doesn't mean it's a bad idea, only that risk is involved. I lean toward trading them both but as the Cubs keep winning, I find myself drifting more toward neutrality on it. There's still time to move the needle in one direction or the other. One thing to keep in mind is that with the Angels now buying, the market is dried up even further. Maybe the return becomes irresistible if teams like the Padres or Mariners decide to stay in it. Or maybe the decision becomes a no-brainer to keep both if the Padres or Mariners start selling.
  4. I agree that initially, it may not feel like a game-changing player in return... but PCA wasn't initially the game-changer he is today. Both Bellinger and Stroman carry the value of being able to bring back a piece that could turn into a game-changer. But "could" and "will" are different words. 😁
  5. It's a difficult decision to make and the recent wins absolutely confuse the situation. Watching engaging baseball down the stretch is both fun and profitable for a team. But at this potential cost to long-term competitiveness, there is reason to pause and consider whether it's a good idea.
  6. Wait. THE CUBS WON LAST NIGHT? Hahahahahahahahahah, my lord the White Sox suck. I turned off the game and read a book when it was 7-2 or something like that. Anyway, now it's off to St Louis, where the Cubs can hopefully punch the Cards in the face over and over again. The Cubs could even leave this series at or over .500!
  7. @jersey cubs fan and @CubUgly is there some sort of bad Cubs history with this guy? He used to work in Chicago, right?
  8. I'm just posting this creepy-ass throwback because it's my 1000th post.
  9. That part I really don't understand. It's going to be nearly impossible to recover the loss of one and still compete. You may as well whole-ass the situation and move as many pieces as you can, or move none.
  10. It's the QO, I'm sure. It's way harder to recoup value if there is a comp pick attached to a rental.
  11. I don't want to give up on the season but given the dearth of quality hitters on the market and the allure of a farm system like Miami, Baltimore, etc... boy, it's hard NOT to trade Bellinger.
  12. Another game against the White Sox, another prime opportunity for a win. Lance Lynn has been truly awful this year and I'm pretty sure he's leading the world in home runs allowed (though admittedly, I don't care enough to look it up).
  13. In case you haven't noticed, the Chicago Cubs are on a bit of a roll coming out of the All-Star break, going 7-4 overall and currently amidst a four-game winning streak. With Cody Bellinger (free agent at season's end) and Marcus Stroman (can opt-out of contract at season's end) looking like two of the most appealing trade candidates on the market, Cubs' President of Baseball Operations Jed Hoyer has decisions to make that could impact the north side team for years to come. And according to Gordon Wittenmyer of the Cincinnati Enquirer, insiders are saying no decision has been made. With nearly a week left until the deadline and no significant trades having been made as of this writing, that's not an indictment of Hoyer... but time is running out and a decision will need to be made. And it's an important one for the Chicago Cubs.

  15. So when you go into an editing window, the entire site font changes or just the font in the text editor?
  16. I'm moving them all to verified member status so they can see social. The requirements of the social forum were relaxed almost immediately once we finished the site transition. Now all you need are two approved posts to see it.
  17. The White Sox are a really bad baseball team that might get worse before this series is over. Unfortunately, the Cubs only face them twice.
  18. It's hilarious. I wonder how many forums were borne out of ESPN.com message boards. My first Twins site was a reaction to the ESPN boards being a trash fire (I founded BattleYourTailOff.com in 2005 or so). Brewer Fanatic (formerly BrewerFan.net) was founded in 2001 because people hated the ESPN boards.
