  1. i don't believe it.
  2. i don't think the situation is much different, other than the fact that the bears were in a much stronger position than denver is in now. washington doesn't have to overpay to get cutler, they HAD to overpay to get briggs and they refused to. leads me to believe that they won't overpay, players-wise, to get him. they'll make an offer, but they aren't desperate. they won't be driving up any price. although they WILL pay for FA's.
  3. rocky mcintosh. and yeah, i'm glad that they just wouldn't give him up.
  4. not true, they were unwilling to pay the cost for briggs.
  5. wow, it's wastra.
  6. Michael was waaaay more talented than Magic Johnson. Faster, stronger, jumped higher, more coordinate, everything. of any player who has ever played, i want the ball in MJ's hands down by one with seconds left. that's any player, anywhere, at anytime. i look at the league right now and i can't even say that about lebron right now. if i had my choice, i'd take both kobe and wade over lebron in terms of last shot. that's not the entire story, but that's a huge piece. who do you want taking that shot? or at least, whose hands should the ball be in? MJ 365.
  7. yeah, floyd must take a hypno-coin around with him to job interviews. but he's a solid, if not spectacular college coach. but i can see why a big time program like arizona wouldn't want to take a chance on a guy like capel. once capel gets a huge job like zona, and is successful, he becomes coach k's successor. arizona didn't want to be used as a stepping stone.
  8. Doing thing the right way Tom Crean took Nick Williams from Marquette. i WILL say this about self, he didn't take any previously committed recruits with him to ku. charlie villanueva ended up decommitting and going elsewhere. my big problem with the whole mess is that we paid him for 3 years to build recruiting inroads for kansas in chicago. i guess that's the way things work, but it pisses me off that the state of illinois funded his national championship at another school. c'est la vie. i'm a cub fan, too.
  9. Is that the rumor? I wouldn't bet on Dixon leaving Pitt except to go to a real 'name' basketball school, which USC is not, but you may know something I don't. Dixon grew up in LA. USC certainly isn't a move up from Pitt but it's a move home. and john wooden grew up in indiana, who cares?
  10. I'm ready to finally admit this, and believe me it isn't easy. I was sitting here tonight, thinking about LeBron. I do that sometimes; think about LeBron. LeBron can and very likely will surpass Jordan. Barring injury or other unnatural circumstance, there is nothing Jordan could do that this man can't and more. Every team in the East and maybe the whole league is now in NBA purgatory. Ain't nobody winning a title without an LeBron injury or some unholy player pairing like Wade and Howard joining forces. League over, go home. i know what you mean, it's a wonder why they even play the games. he's got such a monopoly on rings right now it's unfair. lebron james is a great player, oscar robertson great.
  11. I see what you're saying but there's a big difference in Umass and Memphis. There's actually tradition here. There were good times before Calipari. Plus the facilities he's helped build here are top notch. wasn't basketball invented on the campus of umass? Winning tradition. did they have some successful teams, yes. but is there that big of a difference between the two programs? no. call leaves a vacuum, though.

  13. i was thinking the sae thing. but at least the guy from utep or whatever can mainatin the school's relationship with him.
  14. just hire the guy that calipari said to hire and hope he can keep a fraction of the momentum going.
  15. he'll overhear them as he passes by.
  16. the next coach(Rick Pitino). Hahahaha The Memphis paper is reporting that Memphis may be willing to put a succession clause in Pitino's contract saying his son will take over after he retires. Plus they'll make him the highest paid coach in college basketball. yeah, still not going to happen. kentucky fans are still obsessed with pitino. if he wanted that job, he could have had it. he robbed the celtics organization blind, i don't think money is an object to him.
  17. yeah, that is not going to happen.....at all, ever.
  18. If I'm Denver, I don't want the #1, and I especially don't want the #1 and use it on Stafford. That guy is not worthy of #1 draft pick QB money. I'd much rather take multiple picks and a player or two than the #1 overall. Without a Peyton Manning available in the draft, the #1 overall pick just is not worth what it once was. It costs too much money and risks too much cap space on an unknown quantity. agreed. even if stafford becomes as good as cutler, essentially, they just gave up their draft pick for nothing. and detroit has few desireable players that they could throw in.
  19. clayton didn't mention the bears as one of the interested team.
  20. orton and picks should get it done.
  21. if cal would have taken the kentucky job 2 years ago, derrick rose would have reneged on his commitment and come to illinois. why couldn't he have done this back then?
  22. memphis is the team that should be panicking. kentucky will be back no matter if calipari takes the job or not. memphis will just go back to dust.
  23. Shaffer just isn't that good, and he isn't young either. He's a placeholder who probably works best as a backup. Omiyale is a backup and is probably slated for guard duty. And remember, we still don't know much of anything about Williams. Pace would give the Bears 3 tackles, protection in case Williams falters, and time to deal with replenishing the rest of the line. The Bears don't have an exceptionally high paid player on offense, which means they can afford to pay a little more for role players. This would do very little to affect the longterm viability of the line, they'd still have to draft guys this year and/or next. But it would be a solid short-term solution to what has been a huge problem the last couple years. shaffer is a very good run blocker but bad in pass blocking, whom i think would work better at guard. lt- williams lg- omiyale c- kreutz rg -shaffer rt - pace we also have beekman and beunning and then whoever we draft to fill in if injury or poor play happen. this would make our line impervious, which i really like.
