  1. so you think it's acceptable for a player to quit on a play whenever he wants, as long as he's a great player? handle it behind closed doors, don't approach him in the dugout in full view of every video camera in the stadium. tell him guys look up to him and he needs to try harder next time. this whole "you need to apologize to everyone whose lives you ruined" is junk. that jerk manager made this into more than it needed to be because he wanted a little attention. if he felt so upset about it, he could have handled this like that blue jays manager handled lilly, waiting for him in the stairway to fight him, and then he could have gotten beaten up, just like that manager and everything would be even.
  2. From everything I've read about this incident, it was the culmination of Hanley acting above the team, not just this one time. Either way, he was wrong and shouldn't be treated better than any one else on the team. Yes, he's talented. But he can't win every game by himself. of course he should be treated better, he is better.
  3. if i were ramirez i would be like, "did it have to be the worst two players in the hall-of-fame?" no one is baseball honestly realizes how much of baseball is skill and talent and how little is hustle.
  4. off topic, but i had no idea that phoenix was thinking about moving back to winnipeg. that would be absolutely excellent. now, they'd just need to get the nordiques back in quebec and it's all good.
  5. it's because they won't be able to lure anyone in FA. honestly speaking, LA could do better with bynum as a centerpiece. but i doubt that LA would be willing to take on hedo like the bulls would. again, i proposed a trade like this a few weeks ago and got criticized, so i don't know how realistic it would be outside of bulls fandom. but it would be awesome if it happened. they'd have to sign lebron and then korver or something, and then trade for bosh and turkoglu. essentially, your starting 5 would be: rose lebron turkoglu bosh noah yikes. the payroll would balloon when rose is due his max deal and noah is a due a raise. likely, we'd be looking at the highest payroll in the league, i believe.
  6. Throw in Gibson and/or a good draft pick. i believe that this is the exact trade proposal that imb chastised me severely for. likening me to a certain fat guy. i hate you so much.
  7. he looked so loose in that overtime. by which i mean great.
  8. one of the greatest playoff overtime periods that's ever been
  9. dave bliss is a monster, cal is just scum.
  10. Who gives a s**t about vacated wins. It's so meaningless. yeah, i guess you're right. national championships mean nothing the second after they're won.
  11. First, it's not like Calipari coached teams are constantly getting busted. The two violations were 12 years apart. And like i mentioned earlier, other teams are getting caught. Kansas just came off probation and several big name schools are on probation currently. are there any other coaches that have had a final four at two different schools vacated? i can think of one other coach that has had big problems at two different schools. and, well, let's just say that cal is in good company. Eddie Sutton? not even sutton left what cal has. i'm speaking, of course, of one kelvin sampson

  13. why, an unhappy coincidence of course
  14. again, you're making the argument that calipari is a collegiate head coach. like i said, that means nothing. calipari is scumbag regardless of coach k. . correction, he's coached 18 seasons at 3 schools, 2 of those schools he left on probation, working on a 3rd. still, all those amazing seasons and no final fours. he's not only a scumbag, he's an overrated scumbag.
  15. to imagine that there is no connection between cal and the problems he'd had at his past schools is a bit more of a stretch. no one is trying to make the argument that calipari is not a college coach, as the only argument that his apologists seem to have is that he is one. the real claim here is that he is a cheating scumbag that either has boosters and other friends of the program pay his players or move mountains of exams and grades to get them in and probably both. he's left penalizations and accusations in his wake, prefers the company of shady agents and lawyers and parents of recruits and whatever it is that worldwide wes claims to do and leaps from job to job just as penalties are coming down. all this while never getting to a final four. cal is scum, the fact that he is a collegiate head coach means nothing.
  16. the kid's shot reminds me of ray allen. the only problem that i have with him is that he doesn't appear to be exceptionally athletic. he does have a knack for scoring the basketball, though.
  17. i'm the wrong one to talk to about kansas
  18. everything jalen rose says is wrong, so horribly horribly wrong.
  19. People are making millions of dollars off their talents and hard work, while they have to go through the motions of going to class and get nothing for it in high school and college. It's only natural for players like them to start looking for ways to skirt the rules. Camby and Rose will have played college basketball somewhere. All Calipari said is "hey, you can come play for me." It's silly to scapegoat Calipari for not hiding the less savory parts of college basketball when everybody knows they exist and are profiting off it as well. haha, the old "someone would have taken them" argument. yes, but only a cheater would have been willing to cheat to get them in, and he's done this twice at two different schools. the ncaa may choose to punish the schools and not calipari, but that only puts kentucky at risk of facing the death penalty again. some people are willing to ignore the rules and say "win at any cost", some people have no scruples about how they compete. i think everyone knows what calipari is and what he does, i'm not going to blame him for being scum, but i will blame university of kentucky for employing such a cheater who will undoubtedly destroy their program someday. it's not a matter of if he screws up, it's a matter of when and uk is playing with fire. Calipari was at Memphis for 8 years and the only thing that ever came up was the Rose situation. Rose is not the only highschool player to have someone take a test for him. I don't remember much about the Camby situation except he was caught taking money from an agent. Sure Calipari was the coach when both instances went down, (Rose still denies someone took his test by the way) but Calipari himself has not been implicated in either violation. coaches generally don't go down for these violations. as i said, eddie sutton was never implicated in anything at kentucky, sampson was never implicated at oklahoma. al capone was never implicated in anything but tax evasion. even had they made those free throws, they still wouldn't have won the game, as they won exactly zero games that season. would have been interesting to see a national title stripped, though. you think it's a coincidence that his schools get caught just as he's out the back door? that's delusion. cal is a scumbag cheater and his apologists are like creationists.
  20. surprised the iowa state losers haven't mentioned chris babb's transfer yet.
  21. sam thompson http://hphotos-sjc1.fbcdn.net/hs281.snc3/27710_439968126223_101726786223_5971728_1055441_n.jpg
  22. i'm not saying the ncaa isn't greedy, just that cal is a scumbag. that was alli ever said.
  23. The beautiful thing is he still can't win it all. Bend every rule you can Cal, you still can't get it done. Oh and you still have pee on your shoe from when Bill Self pimp smacked you down the stretch of the '08 game. And it really hurts me to have to even like that a bit. yeah, he's going to fail with his tin-men mercenaries anyway.

  25. he's implying that cal recruits players who will take money or have no problem with cheating to get cleared to play? i don't honestly know how anyone can defend that puke. and it's idiotic to say that he's never been caught. he has been caught twice, he just has enough insulation, like most coaches, to deny everything. it's like saying al capone was guilty of tax evasion and that's all he ever did.
