  1. You can't treat him like everybody else, but there's nothing wrong with pressing him to try harder. that's true, i was just addressing the people who think a baseball team should be some sort of model of egalitarianism. the object of baseball is to win, not make sure everyone has a good time.
  2. but seriously, again, people are failing to understand that hanley is super-good, meaning, he's not like most players and you can't treat him like other players. why can't people get this through their heads? he's better than everyone else, he doesn't have to do the little things that don't really make a difference anyway. there are plenty of teams that will take him, laziness and all, if the marlins want to bench him.
  3. What a douche. His first line invalidates his whole opinion. He's lived in Chicago for 5 years. it's because chicago is a metropolis, not a suburb, not a burnt-out rustbucket ghost-town with one positive distinction, not a french-canadian one-sport town (sorry, two sport, if you count smoking cigarettes while sitting in cafes as a sport). How dare you dismiss the Alouettes. my cousin has been contacted by them and the winnipeg blue bombers. they're offering 30,000 a year (CANADIAN!), a car, lodging, and a cell phone for 6 months or something like that.

  5. A friend of mine has always refused to watch early season hockey because it pales in comparison to playoff hockey in terms of pace and intensity. I think every playoff game I've seen this year has paled in comparison to the pace from last night's game. yeah, that was some great hockey to watch.
  6. i saw that as well. all of the illini players are in the top 100 with abrams(?!) falling to 93. davis has become a must get, moreso than shaw at this point. bring 'em both in, just forget about 2012, and win an NC. he shore is skinny tho.
  7. can't wait to see the "anyone but bulls" crew try to justify lebron to the wizards.
  8. i love it when you have the other team believing that yelling and screaming and fighting each other and throwing skates and equipment in the locker room is somehow cathartic and will make them play better. the sharks may well win the series, but it won't be because of some locker room tantrum.
  9. but anyway, i love how much thornton hates bolland
  10. IDK what you are talking about, but Melrose has been on the Hawks bandwagon since Toews/Kane era began. In fact the Hawks are his favorite to win the Stanley Cup. Not to mention he's in love with the Hawks jersey. yeah, he loves the hawks. He said Kaner isn't as good as either of the Sedin twins and that San Jose should figure him out. IDK, the few times I heard him speak it was little barbs like that...maybe I should watch the whole telecast, huh? lol kane will be a perennial 100 point scorer when he's been in the league as long as those guys.
  11. so who, cousins or favors for nj?
  12. more likely a 2
  13. hanley ramirez is not a regular player, he cannot be treated like one.
  14. smooth combo guard. well-rounded and polished, pretty good scorer and can shoot from deep. does everything very well, but isn't great in any one area--unless you consider intelligence an area. he's #1 in his class (at rocky, but even still) and i believe is considering harvard among his potential destinations. i'm not so big on him because he'd be redundant at illinois. we've always thought that he's been waiting for a KU offer, but he's said things that lead me to believe he's an illini lean (referring to the bball team as "we" or something like that.), but again, he may be an illini lean because kansas hasn't offered yet. self would be stupid not to offer, this kid is a real person not a mercenary, a 4-year "heart-and-soul" player that could lead the team to an NC. goes to same high school where don nelson went, and if anybody remembers pete mickeal from cincy, he went there, too. i, on the other hand, went to the catholic school on the other end of town.
  15. and then there's the game when sandberg got stabbed. it would be hard to pass that game up.
  16. huge potential, long, very athletic, maybe the most athletic player in illinois from that class. has never developed into the player that he was supposed to be but continues to hang around in the rankings because he was hyped early. as far as the SF position goes, mycheal henry has passed him up. though not as athletic, henry is a great shooter and scorer. thompson could be nice because of his untapped resources and whitney young is a player mill, but he has connections to oregon state and he may play his way into that echelon by the time his hs career is up.
  17. he's a well-oiled machine
  18. I agree with Flames in that LBJ will not take less money, but there is a good chance that he won't sign a full 6 year deal either. I think LBJ might do another 3 year to reach his 29 birthday, for the main reason if LBJ only signs short-term deals at full max he keeps the pressure on the FO of whoever signs him to keep making moves that will improve the team. lebron can only sign a 6-year deal with the cavs.
  19. dwight howard dances like a [expletive] homosexual i mean it's gayer than patrick kane and john madden shirtless in a limo together
  20. sounds like a great kid. incredibly sad.
  21. I doubt it. They outshot Colorado 51-17, couldn't score and lost on an own goal in Game 3 of that series to fall behind 2-1 but came back to win the next three and the series. touche. Hadn't thought about that. the hawks are not the avs though.
