  1. i saw this over on sch and thought it was hilarious.
  2. ever been to a game at lambeau in early december? there's really no place like it in football. score me some tix and i'd love to take in a game with you. you'll be the first person i think about if i can get my hands on some tickets. get a room i've already shared a room with him. it was fantastic.
  3. i think toivonen is more realistic than crawford as his hit is 250,000 less and every penny is important. this way they can keep reasoner or bring up beach. AUTO-GENERATED CAPGEEK.COM LINES FORWARDS Jonathan Toews ($6.300m) / Patrick Kane ($6.300m) / Marian Hossa ($5.275m) Patrick Sharp ($3.900m) / Dave Bolland ($3.375m) / Tomas Kopecky ($1.200m) Marty Reasoner ($1.150m) / Troy Brouwer ($1.025m) / Viktor Stalberg ($0.850m) * Jack Skille ($0.600m) / * Bryan Bickell ($0.550m) / Jake Dowell ($0.525m) DEFENSEMEN Brian Campbell ($7.143m) / Duncan Keith ($5.538m) Brent Seabrook ($3.500m) / Niklas Hjalmarsson ($3.500m) Ivan Vishnevskiy ($0.822m) / * Jordan Hendry ($0.625m) John Scott ($0.512m) GOALTENDERS * Antti Niemi ($2.000m) / Hannu Toivonen ($0.550m) CAPGEEK.COM TOTALS (these totals are compiled using the bonus cushion) ROSTER: 21; CAP: $59.4m; CARRY-OVER PENALTY: $4.158m PAYROLL: $59.398m; BONUSES: $0.065m; CAP ROOM: $0.067m that's skille/reasoner/dowell on the 4th line, and i've removed the ill-favored jassen cullimore, whom i understood was brought in to be the 7th d-man. but hendry has more experience so that's all good.

  6. well, that's gotta all but seal it that the hawks will fit under the cap and probably be able to bring back niemi. unless someone signs him to a nice offer sheet. i'd still be shocked if we could end up getting niemi at around 2 mil I don't think the arbitrator is going to triple his salary. He was making $827K, I think. I think $2M is about right, honestly. the hawks could probably go to 2.2 with. i'd still like to get rid of reasoner and bring up beach, as much of a douche as he is. however, reasoner replaces madden as the 4th center. this is with john scott as the 7th defenseman/13th forward and a cullimore/vishnievskiy 3rd pairing. essentially, you got: kane/toews/brouwer hossa/sharp/stalberg kopecky/bolland/bickell makarov/reasoner/skille scott as your lines. not much of a drop-off, really. we had to rebuild our 4th line and shuffle in stalberg and bickell. that's a solid playoff team with our two top pairings returning and probably our goalie.
  7. well, that's gotta all but seal it that the hawks will fit under the cap and probably be able to bring back niemi.
  8. plus, i thought beach projected more as a power forward than a goon. sure, he needs to be able to fight, but let's not practice on our own guys. especially guys who aren't fighters and are way smaller than him.
  9. Seriously, what a cheap shot to begin with. Why is stuff like that going on in a team's camp? i have no idea, i watched another video of beach fighting brannon and no one really made any effort to break it up. maybe they see it as part of camp and the evaluation process, which would be idiotic.
  10. again, nice [expletive] job, beach you [expletive]
  11. Cleveland is a dump but that's not why they couldn't get talent to surround Lebron. free agents do not usually go to midwestern teams if they can get similar contracts somewhere else.
  12. lebron has put himself in a great situation to win, he partnered with someone who has what he doesn't. now, how his success is perceived historically, only time will tell. i don't think it will make that much of a difference.
  13. i don't see much of a difference between niemi and turco, except age.
  14. hjalmarsson and campbell are pretty much seabrook and keith lite.
  15. hjalmarsson was a big reason niemi's GAA was low.
  16. Why? Hjalmarsson is a well above average d-man, and Niemi is an average goalie. Choosing him over Hjlmarsson because of a good few rounds in the playoffs would have been dumb. We don't compete next season without Hjalmarsson on the second pairing with Campbell. Lol what? Yeah, it's not like they have had a forward on the cover of the NHL games for 2 straight years. And that's not even mentioning Hossa. This is just a ridiculous thing to say. If they weren't going to do that, we wouldn't have even been able to keep Hjalmarsson, soooo yeah, that's just silly. no superstar? "hey do you think they'll send huet to the minors? do ya do ya do ya?"
  17. You can only trade the guys that other teams will trade for. Right, but I refuse to believe that there's zero interest for Campbell. He came off a very solid playoff run and showed his worth. Couple that in with the Islanders needing to just reach the salary floor and I have an extremely difficult time believing that there hasn't been an offer for him. i don't think campbell would approve a trade to the isles.
  18. it's more than reasonable to fit beach under the cap. however, they would have to trade reasoner, which i don't understand why they haven't yet. we don't necessarily need some old, stalwart defensive center on the 4th line. it can be a young, offensive-minded center as well.
  19. i read an article today that said the hawks will try to come closer to 58 than 59.4, as most teams do, because of the threat and surety of injuries over the course of a season. however, it is my understanding that there are injury exemptions given for certain periods of time. does anyone know more about these? the hawks CANNOT be at 58 million, they have to stretch it all the way out. as for speculation that sharp would be moved, i think he would have been moved by now if he were to be moved at all. he easily has the most value of anyone who has been shipped out thus far. and if he is traded, we would need a VERY high draft pick, like a top 5, and an above average, ready-made player to go with it. there's a reason sharp is still a hawk, the entire second line hinges on him. if he goes, it falls apart. trade him and we might as well start trading toews, kane, keith, and seabrook and start all over because we might NOT make the playoffs without the leader of the second line.
  20. beach, you piece of [expletive].
  21. i don't understand why, if the reports are true, the hawks are looking to ship campbell. why would they do that now when they should have done that before getting rid of steeger and ladd?
  22. i heard he was in bad shape. wow.
  23. none of the players they lost were in themselves vital, but they all filled roles that made our depth outstanding. i don't think we'll come close to missing the playoffs and am actually looking forward to seeing what some of the rockford guys can do. and people are very high on kruger, stalberg, lalonde, and morin. mathis olimb is also very intriguing. i'm excited to see these guys get a chance and think they'll perform reasonably well. also, brouwer's ready to explode, which i don't think is necessarily a great thing long-term for our prospects of keeping him, but i think we'll be fine next year.
