  1. i think you should be able to jump right away or have to wait 3 years. i watch more college basketball than pro basketball and i like seeing pro-prospects, not jon scheyer. I think you'd have an overrun of high school kids in the NBDL that way, which is fine by me. Europe would benefit quite a bit too. I think you'd get a lot more kids not going to college under that plan compared to the leave whenever you want plan. cal would have to compete with benetton treviso or whatever. i wouldn't care.

  3. he also willfully ignored the illini at every turn. the kid was waiting for money.
  4. he's just too slow i know i mean justin gage slow
  5. but seriously, what are these people going to say when niemi isn't even a starter next year? i don't see many options at all for him, and he won't get 2.75 from anyone. i like the message bowman sent: we will not be held hostage.
  6. JOHN MADDEN GONE TOO!!!!!! OH NOES
  7. Hawks have an awful lot of bandwagon fans at the moment. That I can understand, but I've seen people who've played hockey much of their lives saying this. Like Jersey, I'm far from an expert at hockey, but this just seems like common sense. It's people falling in love with what happened in the playoffs, and thinking that Byfuglien and Niemi were the reason this team was so good. like baseball, some of the biggest hockey morons are the ones who have played it competitively.
  8. holy crap, just noticed that atlanta has 3 black guys on their team. they must be really trying to get people in the seats.
  9. i really really think they're going after jay mckee to replace sopel on that third pairing. if they do, they've somehow improved themselves defensively during the summer of capocalypse. honestly, this team hasn't even really taken a step back in my mind in terms of talent. kopecky replaces ladd, beach replaces kopecky, stalberg replaces versteeg, bickell replaces buff, mckee (?) replaces sopel, dowell replaces madden, turco replaces niemi. the only place where we become markedly worse is fourth line center, but then again we get infinitely younger. can't wait for the season.
  10. he's just too slow
  11. i can't believe that strasburg's hurt
  12. i'm confused, is rosenbloom sending his regards to hockey or are you?
  13. i didn't see him as much of an upgrade at the deadline, i wanted vokoun, but that would have never happened. as it stands now, turco is acceptable at that number. and mark my words, he will experience a resurgence, look for slightly better number than niemi's.
  14. sorry, i'm having fun with capgeek right now, but they could also bring in jay mckee on a one-year deal for about a mil or less, raise hendry to 675,000 and look very tough on defense. mckee essentially replaces sopel and perhaps is slightly better and even younger. 15. The rules made that decision for him. he had turco waiting in the wings. once the 2.75 number came out for niemi, i'd say he had the deal done the same day. if niemi won't work with the hawks, there's other goaltenders of similar ability that will.
  16. I think the problem with that is that he's owed like 90k at Rockford and 850 or so up with the big club. I know it's some ridiculous disparity that makes him too expensive this year. i was told it's 67k or 900k. in which case i understand. i like leddy, but he may be best suited for next year. he's only 19.
  17. it hurts niemi more than anyone. someone may give him the 2.75 per for a couple of years he's looking for, but he could stay in chicago for a couple at the 2 we were offering, post a GAA in the low 2's with a .915-.920 SP, then sign somewhere for big money and fade away like he inevitably will.
  18. okay, so realistically, this is what we're going to look like in 10-11: CAPGEEK.COM CAP CALCULATOR FORWARDS Patrick Kane ($6.300m) / Jonathan Toews ($6.300m) / Troy Brouwer ($1.025m) Marian Hossa ($5.275m) / Patrick Sharp ($3.900m) / Tomas Kopecky ($1.200m) Viktor Stalberg ($0.850m) / Dave Bolland ($3.375m) / Kyle Beach ($1.170m) Bryan Bickell ($0.541m) / Jake Dowell ($0.525m) / Jack Skille ($0.600m) DEFENSEMEN Brent Seabrook ($3.500m) / Duncan Keith ($5.538m) Brian Campbell ($7.142m) / Niklas Hjalmarsson ($3.500m) Shawn Lalonde ($0.773m) / Ivan Vishnevskiy ($0.821m) John Scott ($0.512m) GOALTENDERS Marty Turco ($1.300m) /Corey Crawford ($0.800m) CARRY-OVER BONUS PENALTY: $4,157,753 CAPGEEK.COM TOTALS (follow @capgeek on Twitter) (these totals are compiled using the bonus cushion) SALARY CAP: $59,400,000; CAP PAYROLL: $59,109,090; BONUSES: $610,000 CAP SPACE (21-man roster): $900,910
  19. i don't know. i think they played themselves out of a sure thing. It's doubtful he has to settle for a garbage contract now. They said from day one Niemi may be more comfortable not being in Chicago anyway. that's funny, are you talking physically or mentally? because a half season of starting for a team other than the hawks will have him lounging comfortably on the bench. his GAA will go up about a goal.
  20. i don't know. i think they played themselves out of a sure thing.
  21. Nice. They could even go with Leddy now. CAPGEEK.COM CAP CALCULATOR FORWARDS Patrick Kane ($6.300m) / Jonathan Toews ($6.300m) / Troy Brouwer ($1.025m) Marian Hossa ($5.275m) / Patrick Sharp ($3.900m) / Tomas Kopecky ($1.200m) Viktor Stalberg ($0.850m) / Dave Bolland ($3.375m) / Kyle Beach ($1.170m) Bryan Bickell ($0.541m) / Jake Dowell ($0.525m) / Jack Skille ($0.600m) DEFENSEMEN Brian Campbell ($7.142m) / Duncan Keith ($5.538m) Brent Seabrook ($3.500m) / Niklas Hjalmarsson ($3.500m) Nick Leddy ($1.400m) / Ivan Vishnevskiy ($0.821m) John Scott ($0.512m) GOALTENDERS Marty Turco ($1.300m) /Corey Crawford ($0.800m) CARRY-OVER BONUS PENALTY: $4,157,753 CAPGEEK.COM TOTALS (follow @capgeek on Twitter) (these totals are compiled using the bonus cushion) SALARY CAP: $59,400,000; CAP PAYROLL: $59,735,757; BONUSES: $890,000 CAP SPACE (21-man roster): $554,243
  22. btw, vancouver fans were scared of turco cheap to the hawks.
  23. I wonder if they'd try and play him more frequently though. Turco is old, and if they are thinking beyond next year they probably want to see if Crawford is worth bringing back. which is why it was important we snagged turco so cheaply. now we can use crawford as our backup instead of toivonen. i really do not feel toivonen will ever be a #2 in the nhl.
