  1. not one break in like 10 years against mizzou.
  2. it should be on fsn in madison.
  3. they've never been able to focus their energy like this.
  4. i have no idea why the took so long to make dimke the fg kicker, too. he's fantastic.
  5. illinois has the athletes but not the brains.
  6. Thats not what I read at all. I read that the proposal is they would be grandfathered in, and a new rule would be putt in place going forward. If these terms are not accepted, then an investigation would be opened. that's exactly what i read.
  7. i think he'll pitch for anyone who signs him a this point. we need middle-relief.
  8. I would guess there's some sort of nominal transfer fee being paid. Right. The amount of the Hawks would have to actually pay him has never been the issue. Clearing him off the salary cap numbers has always been the key. yes, but they can do that by simply sending him to rockford. i imagine they want to be nice to huet and send him somewhere he wants to be, but i also imagine that they can probably get SOME of his salary paid by loaning him to another team.
  9. it makes sense for football but none for basketball. just set them up by region, like everyone else.
  10. i prefer to think of the 2010 bears as a movie, they start off terrible, not gelling, infighting and losing faith in themselves and then, there's a cathartic moment when chris williams, lance louis, and frank omiyale rescue a dozen kittens from a burning building where they also discover a ring of power hidden for centuries within a broken floorboard while crouching to avoid the noxious fumes of the fire. the line instantly bonds and goes on to kick ass all the way to the super bowl, but they lose the ring just before the game. they get destroyed for the first half and quickly descend into a maelstrom of primal fighting in the locker room. jay cutler, on crutches after breaking his leg on the first play of the game, ends the fighting by giving a rousing speech about how the ring of power was just some carnival consolation prize from a ball-toss game and that their ring of power was actually their sense of love for their fellow teammates and the city of chicago. todd collins ends up throwing 5 touchdowns in the second half, leading them to victory, winning the sb mvp and giving the disneyworld soundbite while sean astin is carried off the field. the movie ends with the epilogue about sean astin being the first person carried off the field since ditka and ryan, and a part about lovie smith and jerry angelo being indicted for fraud in australia, where they will spend the rest of their natural lives behind bars. oh yes, and the mccaskeys are kicked out of the league forever and the franchise is awarded to ditka.
  11. so, if he's hurt he's hurt, and when he's not hurt, he should get back out there and play, except if he's really hurt and then he's hurt.
  12. this is the proper use of meathead.
  13. i really hate to [expletive] say i told you so, but here's me saying i told you so for about the 30th time on this issue. down under with the thunder
  14. i'm sure there were a ton of tears shed for prior and wood, especially among cardinal fans.
  15. way to have a memory, poindexter
  16. seriously, people thought that a pitcher that throws such crazy breaking pitches is going to last very long at all? i really hate to [expletive] say i told you so imb, but choke on your sorrow
  17. can we please unlock the thread where i said he was an absolute surefire major injury risk?
  18. it's kind of like nails on a chalkboard for me when people refer to plate appearances as at-bats.
  19. just tell them where to stand when someone comes up to the plate, don't short-out those giant brains with numbers. as professor frink says: just do that for people, players don't need to understand the scientific method.
  20. What the hell is he talking about? Stats aren't something you relay to players depending on game situation. stats are something you never relay to players. stats are something the manager and GM are responsible for interpreting, and this is pretty much why you should never even let the manager interpret them, because they will misunderstand them and get so twisted around in their own logic that they'll be bunting with their [expletive] number 3 hitter with 2 men on. ryno is an idiot. a beloved chicago sports icon who will only be valuable as a manager if he is hog-tied by the gm. but, recalling moneyball, ex-players like ryno and art howe don't much care for being figureheads, they really really want the chance to micromanage titanics like the mets or cubs to the bottom of the ocean.
  21. i hope it's of him standing over a fallen patrick ewing. or maybe it should be of him pointing to spike lee's chair.
  22. In 2006 Roy Williams had a big year with 1300 yards. I don't know if a Bear receiver can get over 1,000. But as we all know, the problem with this team is not the receivers now, but the offensive line. i think knox will be at 1,000 this year.
  23. maybe a job that no one has to go to, or two, or five.
  24. Of course it is. But the point Pompei was making is that after watching Peppers light him up for a month, and then Williams having a bad game against the Raiders he didn't look like the guy everybody had assumed he was. It does not say the season is over find another tackle no need to play the regular season. I think you people are overreacting to somebody pointing out a potential negative. The fact is Williams has to be really good out there for this team to have a chance. He has not been very good in practice or in the only preseason game the offense has played so far. There should be some doubt and Williams has to come back and be what everybody expected him to be. It's not doom and gloom or apoplectic. It's not calling his game the worst thing that has ever happened. at his hall of fame induction ceremony, we're all going to look back on this hand-wringing and smile.
