Was just going to post this. "Give me one reason why he's not out of this game right now" Umm, because he was clearly going for the ball? he obviously hit the ball and they refused to acknowledge that their immediate reactions were incorrect upon replay. it was a foul, no doubt, but shouldn't have been a t or a "double t"

rodgers was looked at as a system qb coming out of college by some people.

i've heard people complain about that and point to it as an example of his bad footwork, as if backpedaling is much different than grapevining or whatever. that said, he obviously gets into position before throwing and he's been hit pretty hard from the blind side since joining the bears.

I don't understand the LT discussion in regards to Webb. He clearly didn't have the footspeed to handle RT, and now we want him over on the other side against most of the premier DE's in the league? I think he'd be better suited at either of the guard spots if he has any shot of being an NFL starter at all. Granted, he won't be the speediest guy to pull to the right or left on running plays, and he won't exactly create the best of holes up the middle, but his inability to keep his defender from getting around him is going to kill Cutler, especially if he's playing Cutler's blind side. I don't like that idea at all. Strangely enough, he may be better suited for LT with the Bears because the schedule dictates the RT has the tougher matchups vs. speed. Jared Allen isn't as speedy as Edwards in Minnesota. Same thing in Detroit w/ KVB at RDE and speed rusher, Cliff Avril at LDE. Matthews is over the RT in GB. That's 6 games where the RT will get the better speed rusher. but cutler has the quickness and elusiveness to get away from many of the speed rushers if he can see them coming. we need someone to watch his back.

if liuget is there, you should draft him, if not, draft pouncey. of course, if carimi is still there, you should probably take him. but i wouldn't be too upset with drafting liuget and signing gaither, either.

the bears have the lowest total salary in the north, i find it strange that we're looking to cut. sign mankins, draft pouncey, shift williams back to LT and use omiyale as your swing. and if you have enough cash left, sign a WR.

i think you've inferred that we've slighted your program, which we haven't. this season sucks enough for the illini, and believe me, i know that they have failed miserably and i'll get to watch my team in the NIT or worse again this post-season. no need to kick us while we're down. perhaps a better way to have stated it would have been this: Since 2002, we've had three embarrassing tourney losses. (UNI, Bucknell, Bradley). We've also had three Final Fours, two championship games, and one title. Both of those things are the product of high seeding, so those miserable losses are worth it. I suppose that's just a long-winded way of restating what you already said, so maybe I'll shut up. lol, exactly.

I think Mike Lombardi brought that up on one of Bill Simmons' podcasts last week, mentioning that it was unfortunate for Pittsburgh that their biggest strength would basically be wasted in this game. I'm sure that's true, but still -- RB surely cannot be considered a need for this team when they just showed they can run a road schedule all the way to the Super Bowl and then win it with Starks + all the top-notch passing game options they have. Obviously they would benefit from a better back, as all teams would. if you have an elite QB, good offensive line and good WR, a having a good RB really doesn't matter. your OL will open up holes, linebackers will be back on their heels to defend the pass and the safeties can't come up to help. peyton manning had edgerrin james for a while, but none of his other RBs have been anything special. tom brady's backfield has been a revolving door. it should be noted that peyton didn't win a super bowl until edgerrin james was gone.
