  1. I've never heard that before either. Too easy otherwise for the punter to just throw one in the direction of the gunner after he starts getting blocked. how does missouri ever get PI called against the other team?
  2. i like the white and white a lot more.
  3. Not even close. A fired football coach doesn't fix what happened to those kids. If anything, it distracts from Sandusky. I agree with the firing, but justice? Give me a [expletive] break How does it distract from Sandusky? The guy is a kid raper; he's already the ultimate villain and he's going to pay the price for it. It's not like his case is going to fall by the wayside because of this firing. Whose face is on ESPN right now? The guy who was going to get to retire before he was rightly fired. Sandusky has been caught and isn't going anywhere. Paterno was getting all the attention because nothing had happened to him. not to mention a lot of people have never even heard of sandusky.
  4. greg maddux as his brother's pitching coach? wow.
  5. not really. heard good things about him but nothing super-special. he plays defense, can shoot, and handle an offense at times. i think they'll bring him along slowly.
  6. i don't know nor do i care. the fact is that players get punished for things they don't do all the time, why should it be different in this case? and obviously you have an idea, because you said you didn't think that his intentions were malicious. why even offer an opinion if you don't have one?
  7. are you saying I'm among the "minus 2"? Because I'm not arguing that JoePa should stay. I'm in the "burn it to the ground" camp in terms of the administration. The only thing I'm arguing is that a) the football team doesn't deserve to be punished for this and b) despite the outcome, I don't think Paterno's intentions were malicious (and yes, I'm aware that his intentions mean jack [expletive]) a) once you start talking about "the football team shouldn't be punished for something someone else did", you head down a slippery slope. where do you draw the line? teams get put on probation or receive sanctions all the time for things the players don't do. these probations and sanctions or whetever always negatively affect the players. the players mean nothing, this is not about the players and can never be about the players if you seek to do justice. b) what do you think his intentions were?
  8. yeah, Notre Dame is kind of a national institution for Catholics and Irish. it's such a tiny and esteemed school, that if every fan had to go there to be a fan, they'd have no fanbase whatsoever.
  9. ok, paterno fired immediately, the rest of the staff at season's end in order to distance the program from the kiddie rape coverup.
  10. Well, the president of the university is complicit, so let's expel every student at Penn State. I MEAN THE GUY COVERED FOR KIDDIE RAPE SO SOMETHING SOMETHING REVENGE! This is absolutely moronic lunacy you are talking about here. Nobody is calling for the players to be kicked out of school. They are talking about firing the coach, because, you know, he allowed a child rapist to rape children. sulley is calling for the entire coaching staff to be fired. that pretty much means no more football games (which, by the way, also screws Nebraska, Ohio State and Wisconsin) i'm sure someone could coach them
  11. yes, no one is culpable because punishing these people would affect other people in some small way.
  12. WON'T SOMEONE THINK OF THE CHILDREN? NO, NOT THOSE CHILDREN, THE ONES THAT WEREN'T RAPED!
  13. paterno already punished them by covering up kiddie rape. they should blame him and no one else.
  14. or we could just punish the people who covered up kiddie rape hiding behind the players is exploiting more innocent people.
  15. he's got enough shame to bear for the rest of his life. this is about spiting joepa for covering up KID RAPE.
  16. sure i would, because it's not about athletics, either. i couldn't care less about football if the defensive coordinator has been screwing little kids and the coach covered it up.
  17. sure, let them transfer the players honestly don't matter, this is beyond them or football. this is beyond the rabid fans who want psu to win at any cost. justice for the players is irrelevant.
  18. nice dodge of the question. if you are so concerned with the players and not the immediate success of the program on the football field, you'd support their ability to transfer after the season without sitting out a year.
  19. so the football team, what, forfeits their last 3 games? tough to play with no coaching staff for athletic department who cares what they do? i mean, besides psu fans. football is not important here. I'm just laying out what is under consideration. Again, this would punish a bunch of kids who had nothing to do with any of this. Rash decisions seem imprudent if paterno himself were the rapist here, and it were proven that his staff all collaborated with him, would you keep them on for the last 3 games because the players don't deserve it?
  20. although i'm sure that if they thought it would give them a shot at the national title, PSU alums and fans would scream to bring sandusky back as the defensive coordinator for the last 3 games. win at all costs pretty much.
  21. so the football team, what, forfeits their last 3 games? tough to play with no coaching staff for athletic department who cares what they do? i mean, besides psu fans. football is not important here.
  22. it seems like this wasn't just a matter of paterno not reporting what he had heard to the authorities, it seems like he was part of a fairly huge cover-up. the entire staff needs to go immediately.
  23. i DO agree that he holds the ball a long time, but that's not a bad thing. i don't want a quarterback who picks a receiver before the ball is snapped and throws the ball before the play can develop. i want a guy who can buy some time for his receivers get open down the field, a brave quarterback that can take some abuse. that said, it's ridiculous to say that he takes so much abuse because he holds the ball so long. some of the sacks are undoubtedly on him, but most of them are because of the line.
  24. haha, great yelling match on sc right now between skip and stephen a. smith regarding tim tebow/kordell stewart black/white running quarterback-thing or something. stewart said he was discriminated against because he was black and tebow has been given everything. i'm not so sure about that, but whatever.
