  1. That would not necessarily follow at all. That's the entire point. Fast runners can end up playing slow (on a relative basis) on the football field. yes it would. fast people are more likely to be fast in any situation. just like good hitters are more likely to be good hitters in clutch situations.
  2. i watched him run live, the time that came back right away was 4.61. the 4.61 appears to have stood up against further review. it was his unofficial and official time.
  3. The phrase "running in pads" doesn't just mean the physical constraints of wearing the football uniform, it's about running down the field with a man in front of you trying to prevent that from happening. 40 times are somewhat informative, but you are really over emphasizing them here. it would also follow that people who are fast aren't automatically rendered slow by having a defender in front of them, and have a considerable advantage against slower players. there are other factors at work, but speed is important, as you have said. this is why they are timed in the 40. although i wouldn't really call the 40 a great measure for inclusion, as primarily all good receivers can run fast--not all fast guys are good receivers. it's a better method for exclusion, or identifying major flaws.
  4. They'll never have to run fast on a football field? Not from a track stance. they're in a track stance for a moment, and they ALL start from the same position. it would follow that the chances are pretty good that the people who run faster out of a track stance are also faster out of any position. just like the people who run faster in underwear also run faster in pads, pads don't make fast people slow and slow people fast, that's absurd. again, a 5-10 receiver that can't run under 4.6 is going to have a tough time creating separation against pro dbs that can mirror fast guys.
  5. Plus everyone was slower in Rice's day. But the point is that it takes an amazing receiver like Rice to prove the rule. Wright is short and slow. He's already at a great disadvantage.
  6. So he's Jerry Rice now
  7. The point of the combine is to see if a player has the basic tools to compete at the next level. Speed is one of those tools for a wr. If you can't run under 4.6, getting open is going to be hard against pro dbs, no matter what your instincts are.
  8. I think that wright has fallen out of the first, based on his slow forty time. He's a guy that probably shouldn't have run. Floyd will likely be gone, we might as well take Mercilus and look for Charles or Fleener in the second. Given how good AJ Jenkins has done, he May be a 3rd rounder at this point. If we sign Jennings, we might not need a cb, so Zeitler with the other 3rd and then Spence in the 4 th.
  9. Based on? i don't mean to say that he's going to be the guy we sign, but our best chance at snagging a true #1 receiver. i'm basing this on the fact that he's the only big name FA that doesn't appear to be getting franchised.
  10. it looks like vincent jackson is going to be the guy. i don't know what it's going to take to sign him, but he has become a must-sign.
  11. i think i've made it perfectly [expletive] clear that he doesn't care about dancing. he does whatever the [expletive] rabbi tells him to until the rabbi's assistant fucks around and make lebron destroy cities.

  16. egwu's teaching him but he's only been clapping since 11th grade.
  17. WE ARE GOING TO WIN A GAME
  18. it's kind of weird how they never call fouls on the illini
  19. won't somebody call a foul on illinois!
  20. He kept dribbling not really He dribbled while he fell. Once he was on the ground he grabbed it and called timeout he was batting at the ball if you call that dribbling. it bounced once or twice.
  21. no, he's white. he'd be playing. Are you guys trying to argue that Ogelsby is better than DJ? Cause that's...rather untrue no, i wasn't. i was just insinuating that bruce is racist
  22. weber-ball. gotta love it
