  1. If we fill up this page Jacque will get a hit tomorrow.
  2. No, we need 3 complete pages or Jacque will not get a hit tomorrow.
  3. The bat of Jacque will cause the birds to fall lower than a day-old soufflé. Go Jacque!
  4. I'm a big anti-Dustyite but I will admit he's been a lot less stupid this year, although it's only 4 games. Neifi has only started once so far, which I didn't expect. Last year was an endless parade of dumb moves by Dusty, so this is refreshing. Hope it lasts.
  5. When Jacque gets a hit tomorrow he will be les miserable. Go Jacque!
  6. Go Jacque!
  7. I believe Jacque has played poorly due to inadequate fan support. I predict he will get his first hit tomorrow if this thread gets 3 pages of posts before game time.
  8. Dusty hasn't done anything glaringly stupid this year except batting Neifi 2nd. Extending Eyre to 37 pitches was a little questionable. He will probably need to drop Jones in the order in a few weeks.
  9. No problem with Neifi here. This is what his proper role is.
  10. According to my calculations Jones' 2 walks have cost the Cubs $65,802 each.
  11. Brad Thompson's gameday picture is coming on to me. Me too. It won't take no for an answer either.
  12. errors by Cedeno and LEE = 2 runs for the Cards. Let's cut the Bums. Both of em. (Convenient to only single out Ronny). Lee's error put the runner in scoring position. Cedeno's error wouldn't have led to a run, and possibly wouldn't have led to Zambrano losing it. winners don't make excuses. You're enjoying riling them up... Don't deny it. True. They just need to take the blinders off for a second and be a little objective. If that is true, then I suggest you stop. B/C I disagree with the groupthink opinion on this board? ZZ?
  13. Hopefully Jones improves. But I don't mind having Cedeno bat 8th for now. Give him some time to build more confidence, get comfortable. Plus would jones beable to get on base so the pitcher could get his at bat over with? That's a very important element too!! I say keep the line-up the way it is now, if we keep winning games. Atleast with Jones at #5 we actually have a pretty good back end of the line-up with Barret, Murton, and Cedeno. If you put Jones back there then you weaken the back end of the line-up. Anywhere you put Jones he's a problem. The 5 hole is an RBI slot and you need an actual major league hitter there. A crappy hitter will do less damage batting 8th than 5th.
  14. More accurately stated, Neifi has inflicted the 12th most collective damage on his teams' offenses rather than being the 12th worst offensive player. No doubt there are more than 11 worse hitters. Nonetheless, it's a pretty unflattering statement about Neifi as a baseball player.
  15. Yes, in fact, he is terrible. In a recent Baseball Prospectus article, he appeared as the #12 worst offensive baseball player since 1900. He is an ideal late-innings replacement or backup shortstop, but he shouldn't be starting. I don't think anyone here hates him - it's not that he kicks babies or eats puppies - but, like lots here say, I hate the way Dusty uses him. Neifi shouldn't start, but when he does, he shouldn't be anywhere near the 2 slot. Neifi is a far from good offensive player but #12 worst since 1900 is absolutely ridiculous. I could probably think of 12 former Cubs in the last 10 years who were worse than him. I'd like to know what kind of criteria were used becuase I've seen this quoted on here a few times. It has to be based on have a large number of ABs and disregard position or something. I'm sure it was park-adjusted. Someone who has gotten 57% of his career at bats with the Rockies having Neifi's career numbers is very very bad.
  16. I guess Hairston will play only vs LHP, and only on days when defense can safely be de-emphasized. Seems like a waste of roster space if that is how he will be used. Of course Walker could be out of here tomorrow if a contender has an injury at 2B.
  17. So when does Hairston get to play?
  18. Look at Walker's numbers against Suppan. Now look at Neifi's. I can understand Neifi starting over Hairston when facing Suppan... But Neifi starting over Walker when facing Suppan? Please. holy shnikes Jones OWNS Suppan Besides the small sample size, there's the fact that Suppan and Jones haven't played in the same league since 2003, and Suppan didn't even face the Twins that year, so we're looking at a small batch of numbers from 2002 or earlier. Simply put, these numbers are meaningless useless CRAP. Edit: I should also add that 2002 was Suppan's worst year of this decade and also the best year of Jones' career.
  19. Look at Walker's numbers against Suppan. Now look at Neifi's. I can understand Neifi starting over Hairston when facing Suppan... But Neifi starting over Walker when facing Suppan? Please. Mmm, Neifi with 12 at bats, Hairston with 19. Two words: SAMPLE SIZE.
  20. Didn't Hendry said he was impressed with Hairston's improvement on defense?
  21. Slappy Pierre: .700 SLG, on pace for 162 XBH. Steroids?
  22. Two words: INCREASED PAYROLL. Hendry/Baker apologists love to ignore the payroll growth, but if the payroll were to drop back to old levels I guarantee you Hendry/Baker fans would be the first to bemoan the situation.
  23. Keeping Choi out of the lineup so lazy Fred could hit 30 homers for 5 teams is still my all-time least favorite managerial move.
