  1. If the zone stays small Murton could have a really good day. Maddux's ERA will go up though.
  2. Not good. At this stage in his career Maddux usually struggles when the strike zone is small.
  3. Aram went 2-2 with 2 BBs yesterday, it's reasonable to think he's on the way up. were those simulated AB's or who did he play against yesterday? ;) He whacked two of Mark Prior's towels.
  4. Glendon has gradually gotten porkier, but Redman seems to have blown up over the course of one offseason. I just thought it was odd since I've never seen an athlete gain that much fat in such a short time.
  5. I don't remember Mark Redman looking like this when he was with the Pirates last year. http://espn-i.starwave.com/media/apphoto/MOOW10404220143.jpg
  6. Pot is addictive. Some of my brother's stoner friends couldn't quit if their lives depended on it. All priorities in their lives are subordinate to feeding their marijuana habit.
  7. It's funny Dusty will give struggling vets multiple chances based on success they've had with other teams. But if they failed with other teams, he talks about fresh starts, and the result is the same: the vet continues to get chance after chance. Success, failure, it's all the same when you're a veteran.
  8. Pierre has stolen 7 bases and been caught once. I bet his girlie arm has given away at least as many extra bases as he has gained thru his SB's. Yesterday we saw Miguel Cabrera, who's a bit pudgy these days, score embarrassingly easily on a single to CF. Pierre has to steal a ton just to get back the bases his arm gives away.
  9. Jeez, Dusty. Dude's been in the bigs for 7 seasons, including 6 as a fulltime starter, and he's shown zero improvement vs. lefties, and he's 31 now. At what point do you acknowledge the man's limitations?
  10. It's not a small amount of games. He was bad last year, bad this spring, and bad thru 20 games in the reg season. This is getting a little long to be a slump. It's starting to look like a decline. And his defense sucks. I thought spring numbers didn't matter. What about last year? Do you just excuse that? What about how lost he looks this year? Do you just write that off? I really hope that JP can turn it around and get his OBP up above .350. I'm skeptical he can do it though. I have a lot more confidence in Pie's abilities than Juan Pierre's. Of course, I'm also more confident in Pie than Jacques Jones as well. So no matter which guy Pie replaces, we're still stuck with a bad outfielder. Yeah, I write those off. It pales in comparison to all of his good years, and he too young to be washed up or declining. Actually no. His whole game falls to pieces if he loses any speed, so he is the type of player who may experience a rapid decline.
  11. In all seriousness, I think that wild-eyed look and the sweatiness Jobo used to have were very likely due to some chemical stimulants.

It's starting to look like a decline. And his defense sucks. I thought spring numbers didn't matter. Put those numbers in the larger context and you have a long uninterrupted string of crappiness.

  14. I don't know. Don't kill me but, when I saw JoBo (surprisingly non sweaty and thin) I immediately thought " he's off the juice." Well, that's because the seed of doubt was planted by B&B that maybe he was using a few years ago. He never broke a sweat and wasn't all wild-eyed like he used to be. I think it's a combo of losing weight and getting off the greenies.
  15. Topped out at 89 mph. I think, but I may have missed a few pitches. I saw one of his fastballs at 85.
  16. Juan Pierre is a major defensive liability.
  17. Neifi to lead off the 9th. Good managing there.
  18. NOW Girardi changes pitchers. Talk about closing the barn door after the horse has bolted. I'm so glad the Cubs didn't hire him.
  19. Why wouldn't you use your closer here? Girardi is stupid.
  20. How so? He got two fly ball outs. It's not his fault The Village Idiot took out a better fielder in RF. Howry gets out of that inning with, at worst, one run scoring if Jones stays in the game. Funny stuff............Dusty gets heat both for playing JJ and for taking him out of the game  Well, he deserves it. The Marlins had a lefty SP today and no lefty relievers. He should have been on the bench to start the game and then inserted against the Marlins bullpen.
