  1. Very nice OC there.
  2. He probably reads them for entertainment the way most people read the comics. They could be printed on toilet paper, that way Dusty could get some use out of them. I know Bobby Knight and sir...Dusty is no Bobby Knight. Bobby Knight wipes his ass on scouting reports?

  4. Well, what about these numbers, Dusty? Is there merit in these numbers? .289/.372/.556 21 HRs 42BB/98SO in 342 Triple A at bats Those would be the numbers of Michael Restovich who is not even on the 40 man roster anymore. Seems like he could platoon with Jacque in RF while the Murton/Pagan platoon could be kept in LF. Oh and I guess it is possible to not start Pierre occasionally moving Pagan to CF for a game here and there for the remainder of the season. Way too many K's. Dusty and Jim like guys who put the ball in play.
  5. Because the Knights Who Say "Ne" won't let us trade him or Neifi.
  6. The Mac vs. PC thread made me wonder if there were other overclockers here. I can't be the only one.
  7. To be fair Dusty did mention that he sees reports on players, unfortunately the rest of his comment makes it plain that he doesn't put any stock in them. May as well save some trees and stop printing scouting reports that will only end up in Dusty's circular file.
  8. This is his 4th team in less than a year. That's a journeyman.
  9. I seem to remember Gonzalez dropping a routine DP in game 6 of the NLCS. Yeah, I guess defense isnt important. Are you suggesting it's smart to construct a team based on the results of one play? Hehe. I knew someone would fall into my trap. Besides defensive errors, I'm sure I could also find some games that were lost due to a botched bunt, but that doesn't mean I'd make it a priority to acquire a lineup of bunting wizards.

  11. I think it's a little early to get that negative about 2007, and I'm a guy who even before opening day wanted the Cubs to quickly fall out of contention in 2006.
  12. Even ol' Jimbo ought to know Wright is worth more than Aramis.
  13. I had my doubts as to whether he could succeed at the MLB level but even in the spring I had no doubts that it was time either to trade him or let him sink or swim with the big league team. The guy had nothing left to prove at AAA and he's getting old.
  14. Jim and Dusty aren't going to change. They will always look at numbers that support preformed strategies and ignore inconvenient stats.
  15. Yeah, managers would drool at the chance to put a career .295 OBP in front of Derrek Lee and Aramis Ramirez.
  16. For my own sanity, I refuse to consider scenarios for 07 that include Dusty. LOL! No doubt! I just feel it coming. If Dusty wants to come back he's a Cub next year. I don't think so. Personally, I think Hendry's already told Dusty he's gone after this year. I think they agreed on the rest of the year so that Dusty could leave and not be "fired". That's the feeling I get. I have the opposite feeling. I expect a 2 year extension.
  17. I'm still bummed that Jim didn't trade Pierre while his value was high.
  18. Going cheap at LF with Murton is not a terrible idea considering how many holes this team needs to fill. The rotation is a mess and Aram is about to get real expensive too. If it were up to me I'd move Jones to CF and spend big on RF and possibly 2B. Izturis wouldn't even be here.
  19. Forget the tennis elbow. DL him for having a crack in his butt.
  20. That's what I was thinking. I really don't want another expensive reliever.
  21. To a much more limited amount than pitching saves runs and offense scores runs. Defense in baseball is about on the level of special teams in football. It's important, but you'd be crazy to build a team around it.
  22. Possibly. Depending on Washington's and Minnesota's 2007 payroll situations though, I don't think we can rule out Hendry making possible trades for Jose Vidro or Luis Castillo. Hendry has liked Vidro in the past, and if he is available you know Derrek and Juan will actively campaign for Castillo. NOT Castillo. He is getitng older, and speed is a major part of his game. You cannot count on Vidro to play a whole season. He is never healthy. Tejeda is the guy. A Package of Prior, Pie, Cedeno and another arm should get Tejeda. Prior/Pie/Cedeno is not a very strong offer at the present time. If it were that easy to get Tejada then the O's would've already made a deal.
  23. I don't understand this point. Why would CLee's declined offer have anymore influence than Beltre's signed contract? A) Beltre's deal was based on a season much better than Aram's best. B) Beltre's deal is looking like an embarrassing disaster for his team. C) It was 2 years ago. For these reasons, if I were Aram's agent I might want to de-emphasize Beltre during negotiations and talk about other subjects.
  24. I'm not sure Beltre's contract is the most relevant anymore. CLee's declined 4/48 offer should have a lot of influence. Aram can legitimately claim to be worth a lot more than CLee, and CLee himself can get more than 4/48.
