  1. Philly would be a great landing spot for Vince. He'd have a mobile QB to learn from and the Eagles wouldn't have to change the offense when he came in. Hopefully he'll be good wherever he goes, I'm still pulling for him. did the dolphins pick up a qb? i could see him landing there and doing some wildcat [expletive] with bush Until this afternoon it looked like they were going to get Orton. They still might. Supposedly flirting with VY.
  2. I can see the headlines now..."World Peace suspended six weeks for altercation with Outlaw." "World Peace Out: Laker Forward to Miss Next Game"
  3. Seriously, stuff? A journalist, and the best word you can come up with is stuff. We bury that word the first day of 8th grade for my students. What's worse, this isn't the only time he uses that vague, worthless word. That's not even the most egregious part of that sentence. How do you sell something for free _____? That's either not selling or not free, one or the other.
  4. "ESP$N?" That is...amazing, on so many levels.
  5. Nice rundown. Your summary of Arkansas is, almost word for word, what I as an Arkansas fan would have said about the team going into this season. I think the passing game will be roughly the same. Wilson won't make all the throws that Mallett can, but he'll make enough of them. And he'll have the help of one of the 2 or 3 best backs in college football from day one to do it, too. My big question marks are how the 3 new starters on the offensive line fit in and how the secondary will advance with some new talent and extra experience. If the results are good, I like them to win the West and probably the SEC. If they're only okay, the may still have a chance, but will likely fight with LSU and Mississippi State for the #2 spot. Pretty exciting season to come either way. Schedule sets up nicely. Alabama on the road is a tough one, but they get them early in the year, which is ideal.
  6. Next year's WR class looks much better than this. This year there were two elites and not another first round quality receiver. Next year I could see 5 or 6 possibly going in the first. Yeah, I wasn't saying anyting about his prospect ranking, just that 6'2 250 isn't really special and could skwe on the more ordinary side.
  7. Isn't he listed at 6'2", 250 ish? That's pretty good size, even on the interior. He can run like an outside LB though. He has produced in college. And he was one of the top recruited HS players a couple years ago. I think Burflict's a better LB, but that's the only one in potentially the deepest ILB class I've ever seen. 6'2" is on the short side for an NFL linebacker, and that's a college listing. College listings are notoriously generous. There is no way that is true. That's got to be at least average. LB is a position where height does not help. There are all sorts of 6'0" to 6'2" LB. Yeah, I said that wrong. It's pretty much dead average, but it's short for what is considered a top prospect at the position, though less so as an inside guy. That's also assuming he actually is 6'2". As for height not helping as a linebacker...that's pretty silly. It's obviously not as big a deal as on the line or at one of the corners, but it does help, especially for a pass rusher type.

  9. Yeah, that's my feeling as well. He doesn't have the feet to handle speed rushers at that level at all, but he can maul. I'm surprised Lee Ziemba lasted so long.
  10. Of course the Raiders took Taiwan Jones.
  11. As a Dolphin fan, I am not happy about Mallett to the Patriots. That is quite frightening.
  12. it's not a strategy. it's not really Carolina's choice. Exactly my point.
  13. I find it hilarious that people are actually advocating "tank for next year" as a legitimate strategy. Also, Christian Ponder at #12? Are there gonna be 8 QBs picked in the first round now?
  14. I'm probably as big a Kaepernick fan as there is out there, but 15 would be way, way too high for a guy who probably won't be ready to start for, at best, 2 seasons. A ton of upside, but way too raw to even consider before the early portion of the second round. It's funny you say this, because I see him being viable as a starter before Cam Newton easily, yet people are fine with him being as high as #1. There aren't many question marks surrounding Kaepernick outside of level of competition that aren't shared by Newton.
  15. I don't know how many caveats and disclaimers I have to give. How about zero, if you'd stop arguing against a point nobody is making? I'm desperately trying to. ...what? How does that work? All you have to do is not argue the point that Castro isn't going to approach A-Rod numbers, which no one has disagreed with or is likely to, and you're done.

  17. It's pretty amazing how Kris Humphries has been a completely different player since Deron Williams arrived in Jersey.
  18. Why would the bad teams rest their good players? They'd do like they do now and play their good players to try to get as good a record as they could. No, I was saying most of what we would see would either be a) bad teams playing, or b) good teams playing their 2nd and 3rd stringers. With a longer regular season, there's a higher potential for injury. I just suspect that, unlike in other cases where teams may or may not hold the starters out currently, they'll be a lot more likely to do so. It's not an either/or thing...more like the longer season exacerbating the existing situation.
  19. Get ready for the awesome weeks 17 and 18 (or 19/20, I guess) in which it's all bad teams or good teams resting all their good players. Yaaaay.
  20. Actually, he did horrible addressing the media, but reports are that he impressed teams during interviews. I saw the interview, and aside from repeatedly saying he wasn't going to talk about the allegations and such, I don't get what was so punkish about it. He wasn't especially savvy, but I don't see how it would rub anybody so incredibly wrong. I mean, yeah, I guess they'd want him to address the character concerns, but the media isn't going to draft him. It actually sounds similar to--yet a lot less arrogant than--some things a certain other former Michigan quarterback said around draft time... This is not me being a homer, either. It's just something I have an issue with. The media gets on these amateur psychology kicks with players, and it bugs me because they can be hyper judgmental, but rarely consistent. See: Cutler is a quitter, Aramis doesn't care and never dives for balls, etc. If it's somebody they like, for whatever reason, the exact same demeanor can be projected as a positive. I've seen reviews of Cam Newton's performance describing him during the combine as "confident and assertive' and other as "arrogant and aloof."
  21. That was also his 37th 15-15 game of the year.
  22. I don't get it either, but I'm not exactly against the idea that Cam could be the best QB prospect in the draft. It's mostly because all the prospects are extremely flawed, and it's more a matter of which flaws you think you can live with/coach up.
  23. They ddin't really "swindle" Memphis for Gasol, and Marc Gasol isn't really any better than anybody who was paying attention thought he would be.
  24. Don't exactly want to hijack the thread here, but I got a couple questions though (this is for anybody on here to answer)... I just moved to Fayetteville, AR 2 weeks ago for Architecture school. Royals AA team/stadium is not even 10 minutes away from where I live now. I'm thinking about getting either a 7-game or 11-game package (along with other single game tixs if I have the time). My questions are... (you guys can PM me or say it here) Who are the prospects that I should watch out for? (Royals AA and the rest of the Texas league) Will Mike Trout be with the Angels AA team this season? What is Arvest Ballpark like? (like the stadium itself, any great/bad spots to watch, hitters/pitchers park?,etc...) What other Texas League team do I need to see? If there's anything else, or something you would recommend, just go ahead and add to it... I'm just curious cuz I used to go watch the Indianapolis Indians a few times a year the past couple years and love to watch the minor leagues games. I'm not really knowledgeable on the minor leagues/prospects/etc... (I mainly know the Cubs farm system and like other big time prospects like Hellickson/Montero/Harper/etc...) I'm pretty excited to see the Naturals as they should have a few of their big prospects playing there this year. Thanks. You should come down to the Rock and catch the Travelers sometime, too. :)
  25. He has: Gabbert at 8 (Titans) Newton at 15 (Dolphins) Kaepernick at 34 (Bills) Ponder at 45 (49ers) Mallett at 66 (Bengals) Locker at 69 (Cardinals) Stanzi at 80 (Jags) I don't see any way Mallett and Locker's stock has fallen so much that Kaepernick will go before them. Both are much closer to being starting NFL QBs than Kaepernick and will almost certainly be better than him in each of the next couple of years. He's probably the better long term option, but most coaches in the NFL don't think long term. I'd be stunned to see Ponder go ahead of either as well, though it makes a bit more sense. I kind of like Kaepernick better than Locker and Mallett right now. The most impressive part of his performance at the Senior Bowl was how comfortable he looked dropping back, making reads, and getting the ball out from under center when he pretty much never played under center at Nevada. That was one of the big concerns about him, and he showed great adaptability there, looking as good as or better than all the other QBs in that regard. He stands stronger in the pocket than either. He's bigger and more accurate than Locker, with similar mobility and intangibles. He doesn't have Mallett's arm strength, but it's definitely a plus for him. His footwork isn't as good as the other two normally, but it's better than either when under pressure, especially Mallett. If he didn't have such an odd delivery, there'd probably be a lot less reservation about picking him. Ponder is a poor man's Chad Pennington. I'd be shocked if he goes that high. I see him and Stanzi as third round type, "safe" quarterback picks.
