  2. I still say Olt is the same guy he was last year, but a year older. Ks weer a concern before, and they still are, but outside of that April when he apparently couldn't see, his production hasn't been a major step down from what was expected. Given his D and power potential, he's still a prospect, one with warts, but the same warts he already had.
  3. I'll take the pool for 100 Alex. Gimme Ramirez all day. I know nothing about this guy, but can't imagine the pool would be better. Grab Ramirez. http://www.baseball-reference.com/minors/player.cgi?id=ramire001nei Big arm, dirty stuff, tons of k's, failed at AAA last year, awesome at AA this year, 24.
  4. So, at AAA we have Arrieta, Grimm, and Cabrera, and I have to think Hendricks will be moving up before too much longer as well. That's not too shabby. Also Loux, whom I forgot about. They can wrangle a starter or two and some bullpen help out of that bunch.
  5. I'm really thinking/hoping the Odor rumor is true. Remember this tweet (Rangers reporter) from during the madness: Kind of starts to make sense if Ramirez and Odor are the PTBNL and he didn't know at the time. Odor would make our sexy infield logjam even sexier and logjammier.

  7. The 2B/SS/3B situation from AA to the majors should be pretty interesting across the board.
  8. What a dumb comparison. Rizzo destroyed AAA for 3 months. Vitters has been pretty good for 3 weeks. Nobody said he should never get a shot again, but he hasn't done anything except have a good three-week stretch, and if he was in the majors he'd be playing like every 4th day anyway. Your degree of caring about this is kind of hilarious. But yes, I like space robots and play video games, so I guess you got me there.
  9. Jesus Christ lighten up Frances Man, it's almost as if I was the one throwing a hissy fit over a player who was ass last year in the majors not being in the majors right now where he'd have no position to play every day anyway.
  10. And that point isn't less than 100 PAs after an awful MLB stint, which seems totally obvious to everybody but you.
  11. Meanwhile, Tennessee has 6 errors through 8 innings.
  12. Following this on twitter by just searching for Garza brings up funny stuff. stuff like "why would the cubs trade garza? literally our only good pitcher"
  13. Who has denied that? Everyone who was saying that the current OF are better and that OF like him are on the FA market every year. Or, you could read the actual words that are on your screen.
  14. Last year he was a 23 year old 3B having a prodigious season in AA, and the Cubs were in desperate need of 3B production. This year he's a 24 year old 3B who has struggled to hit at AAA for various reasons, and the Cubs have above average production at 3B. Seems pretty easy to understand to me. You can also add in that we didn't have Villanueva at that time (obviously), and that all our infield prospects, for the most parts, are one to two levels closer to the majors.
  15. We'll see what Soler does in August and in the fall league. Right now, I still say no. I'm not saying there isn't a good argument for Alcantara moving up the prospect lists, but when your "what have you done for me lately" comes while a guy is recovering from a freak injury, that's a little rough. There's just this moment when you realize Alcantara has a better slash line, at a higher level, in a better pitcher's league, while playing a more difficult position, while being half a year younger. To be fair, Soler very well could be at AA right now if it wasn't for the injury. he also has a significantly lower K rate, a higher power projection, and more defensive consistency to date. There's definitely an argument that he's the safer pick, considering Alcantara has defensive issues and is currently striking out at over a 22% rate. You could definitely make an argument either way, though, and Alcantara could easily be at AAA soon, or maybe even in the majors come September.
  16. And of course when talking about the SBs, you can't ignore his success rate. 22 of 25 this year, 25 of 29 last year. It'll be interesting to see where he ends up on the offseason prospect lists. He's got to be well into the top 100 range if he keeps this up throughout the season.
  17. His numbers look doubly crazy when you see how bad the Southern League is at offense. that wRC+ of 137 coming into tonight sure looks nice. Oh, fun fact, that homer yesterday was his first lefty homer of the season. 12 righty,
  18. Alcantara's 2 for 3 with a BB and a K. Cabrera with 7 and gave up 3 hits and a walk, striking out 3. He really seems to be in a groove.
  19. I didn't know anything about Cecchini, so I did a google search using all I had (last name). I tell you what, one letter can make a huge difference on your impression of a player.
  20. Man I didn't realize how he'd slumped this year. Those are some pedestrian numbers. Then again, we were saying that about Dom Brown and he finally remembered how to hit this season. OF named Brown are the new market inefficiency. Works out better than that pitchers named Rondon thing is.
  21. 4 shortstops in the top 10.
