  1. good thing va. tech showed up tonight
  2. We can use my apartment as a rallying point.
  3. That's dumb. Frank would be a prefect solution for the Cubs CF issues. Yeah, he could replace the shrubbery as the backdrop. You mean he could be a server in the new green glass-sided bleacher restaurant?
  4. Bill Swerski: Now, gentlemen, let me ask you this: What if Da Bears were all 14 inches tall, you know, about so high? Now, what's your score of today's game? Carl Wollarski: Against Da Giants? Bill Swerski: Yes, give 'em a handicap. Carl Wollarski: Bears 18, Giants 10. And that would finally be a good game. Pat Arnold: Yeah, it would be a good game. Mini Bears 24, Giants 14. Todd O'Conner: What about Ditka? Would he be mini, too? Bill Swerski: No, he would be full-grown. Todd O'Conner: Oh, then, uh.. Mini Bears 31, Giants 7. Carl Wollarski: Oh, hold on. Then I change mine, too. I thought it was Mini Ditka.
  5. You'd think someone on the Cubs team would have been able to figure that out by now. Yes. Maybe some sort of "coach" or "manager" who could point it out and instruct them to do otherwise, and then if they failed to do so this "coach" or "manager" could then lay down an appropriate response. could you please translate this "coach" or "manager" word into something that Cubs fans can understand?
  6. You're being optimistic? look at the slugging percentage I just put up.
  7. hyperbole If Prior, Z and Wood are all healthy, the Cubs can beat anyone. That's proven to be a big if. The law of averages are with the Cubs. Hopefully the baseball gods are too. Prior and Z should be fine. If Wood goes down again, I hope he isn't wearing Cubbie blue after 2006. "I just threw a coin and got heads five times in a row. Therefore, this time I will get tails." I think people forget that Wood did pitch 200+ innngs in 2002 and 2003. Now he has his shoulder cleaned up. It is far from a sure thing he will pitch a full season, but the chances are at least even that he will, IMO. I have no problem with that reasoning. i do however, have a problem with the 'law of averages' reasoning.
  8. =P~ Walker 2b Murton LF Lee 1b Giles RF Ramirez 3b Drew CF Cedeno SS Barrett C Wow..wow...wow...wow. After reading that lineup, I am having a cigarette. And I don't smoke.

  10. yeah..i'm impressed. My team in my other league (the one that costs money) just opened up a 7-point lead at the top, so that along with the second place standing in this league means I can't really complain.
  11. Ooooo. Is there some way that you can change Modzilla's post count to "body count", Tim?
  12. you have to pay for it WBBM now broadcasts online and it was working a couple of weeks ago during games, but they don't seem to be carrying the broadcast today. it's supposed to be blacked out. They probably forgot earlier.
  13. you have to pay for it
  14. No reason to throw around insults about me being kicked out of graduate school, you mean? C'mon, thats about as uncalled for as it gets.
  15. Is that some sort of attempt at a joke, or are you just plain being an _?
  16. I was excited, since I was going to go drink dollar beers and eat 25 cent wings at the Full Schilling. But my friends are either hungover or working, so I've got nobody to go with now.
  17. Look, I was there this time, sitting the middle of a Michigan section. Everyone was laughing about it. The refs missed several pass interference calls. They only called holding on one team. Almost every run, Michigan got an extra yard on the spot. At one point, a number of Michigan fans started chanting "M Club! M Club!" I think that was after a blatant pass interference that wasn't called. You guys get preferential treatment every week. This time, it didn't really matter since Northwestern's players lost the ability to catch a football. Last week, it got you a phantom win against Iowa. Two weeks ago, it got you a phantom win against Penn State.
  18. Go ahead and talk about it now. i was over on the Michgan side (sec 110) and the Michigan fans around me were freely admitting it.
  19. Why would Kerry accept a trade to the Mets?
  20. Reports are that he'll be ready by Spring Training. It's time to make Octavio a nice incentive-laden deal to set-up Dempster. Wait, he just referred to himself as "O.D." Third person reference, plus stupid nickname. We need to sign this man.
  21. Yeah, the Sox aren't exactly a budding dynasty. they could get better and younger though if they go with McArthy and Anderson in the outfield. Plus they have Sweeny and Chris Young in the wings. I don't think they are a dynasty but they did just win the freaking world series. Sweeney needs to hit more than 1 HR in a full minor league season for me to think highly of him. Chris Young is still a high-risk, high-reward prospect. We'll see how McCarthy and Anderson do next year (it'd be a shame if Brian Anderson wasn't starting next year in their OF). No doubt their farm system is better than the Cubs, but it's not like these young kids are studs, outside of maybe Young. Chris Young is Felix Pie, yet we are all pumped over Felix. It's not wise to be that pumped over Felix or Chris Young yet, they both have some work to do to be quality big leaguers. I think its fair to be pumped about both players... Yes right now they are still only prospects but 2 be pumped up about what both possibly can be in the future...... Although people have to understand that their is a chance they wont make it but its ok to be excited. As for everyone saying the White Sox players having career years.... Other than Contreras who always had the "stuff" please name 1. And im throwing this out there 2... pitchers dont have career years at 26... when pitchers have career years its like what Loaiza did in his 30's. Cliff Politte, Dustin Hermanson, Neil Cotts. I grant you that Cotts is young, at least. But still... ERAs in the low 2's for each of them?
  22. I see between 15-25 HR's, but waaaay more doubles for Murton. He's not slow, and 450 AB's is a lot. Precisely. You can't peg Neifi at nearly twice as many doubles in approximately the same number of at-bats as Murton.
