  1. Nice defense, Duke.
  2. That foul was precipitated entirely by Thomas' tremedous leaping ability.
  3. Can they say anything else about that guy but "tremendous leaping ability?"
  4. Well, i've been watching the other game up to this point so I can't say much from before 4 minutes ago, but I think his whining is keeping him from getting calls.
  5. I very much enjoyed the replay of the old guy getting bowled over there.
  6. Note that he didn't step on the line there.
  7. Is it possible for the refs to favor Duke any more? Williams obviously committed that foul, but they fell for the old "another player raises his hand" trick. Pitiful.
  8. Exactly. I'm sure Hendry knew that Giles wasn't too available and didn't waste his time on going after Giles. If Hendry thought he had a reasonable shot at getting Giles, he would have gone after him like Rafael Furcal. Besides, he's not that much better than Jacque Jones anyway.
  9. In good news for soccer but bad news for us, Francesco Totti walked without crutches last week, a month and two days after his injury.
  10. The way I look at it, we played with 1.5-2 actual starters today. Keller and Cherundolo (whom I count as .5-1 simply because Arena looooooves Frankie Hejduk, although Cherundolo is probably the better player and will probably start from right back) Everyone else that started today has no real shot of starting in the World Cup, except for maybe Mastroeni, although he's sucked it hard recently. However, this performance means that the US has little depth that it can count on. I mean, these guys got ABUSED today. Also, if Kerry Zavagnin gets another meaningful cap, ever, I'm going to stab someone. NOTE: This is based off of highlights and reading about it a little. Haven't actually seen the whole game yet.
  11. And get injured before everyone else shows up?
  12. That would be the fantastic Nate Spears and Carlos Perez.
  13. After watching his awful, awful performance today, I take back everything good I said about France if Jean-Alain Boumsong gets a WC roster spot.
  14. I got low voltage shock therapy on my neck once, but they turned it up too high and my neck muscles started spasming uncontrollably. Good times.
  15. They rhymed "shrimp" with "trip", which makes me want to stab some marketing wing-ding.
  16. yeah Pacific.
  17. In a just world, I'd agree with you. But it really depends on what the market will bear when and if he files for FA - which is after the end of this season, if I'm reading Cot's properly: Mark Prior p 1 year/$3.65M (2006), plus incentives re-signed 1/06, avoided arbitration ($4M-$3.3M) incentives for MVP, Cy Young, Gold Glove, Silver Slugger & All Star team exercised right to void final season (2006) of original contract 11/05 after qualifying for arbitration 5 years/$10.5M (2002-06), plus incentives $4M signing bonus 02:$0.25M, 03:$0.65M, 04:$1.6M, 05:$2M base (incentives to $2.75M), 06:$2M 2003 All Star selection increased 2004-06 salaries by $0.5M/season additional $0.1M All Star incentive Prior may void either of final 2 years (05-06) if he qualifies for arbitration after 2004 or 2005 seasons drafted 2001 (1-2), signed major-league contract 8/01 agent: John Boggs ML service: 2.131 I think he can skate through this season, get decent numbers, and get a good price. I just have doubts whether it will be with the Cubs. Wanna bet he takes the best SoCal offer his agent can garner him? If Prior isn't in a Cub uniform next season, I think he will have royally taken it to the organization, as well as the fans. And for that, I'd donate $100 to Wood's favorite charity to hear that Kid K picked up a bat and chased Mark around any clubhouse. he's still under our control until 2008.
  18. yours and a lot of people's
  19. My screeen just booted me.
  20. Nevermind, stitchface beat me to it. Guess I should read the whole thread before responding.
  21. My current position in the On Demand line is 3,941. Whee.
  22. Was Clemens top 10 last season? A 1.87 ERA and 1.01 WHIP over 211+ innings is what sets the bar for the rest of the top 10. Too bad he had crappy run support and the TEAM held him to a 13-8 record. I find it odd that Clemens, a 300 game winner, is used as an example for how wins aren't a significant stat for a pitcher :? Last year was an aberration for Clemens - with his peripherals he should have won many more games, much like Wood in 2003. Over the course of one season, the small sample size of starts for one pitcher can allow for good peripheral guys to not win many games, and for bad peripheral guys to win a lot of games. Over a career however, a pitcher who consistently puts up good peripheral stats is consistently giving his team a chance to win, and subsequently that pitcher will win a lot of games. it depends. Put Roger Clemens, for his career, on last year's Astros, and he won't have so many wins. Put him on offensive juggernauts like, say, the boston, Toronto, and New York teams he was on before that, and yes, he wins a lot of games. basically, it's more dependent on the team than it is on the pitcher. that's why everyone thinks current and/or former Yankees pitchers are amazing (see Pettitte, Andy)
