  1. I went last April. it was a good time, but it wasn't worth the price you'd normally pay. I got my tickets for $30 each, and for that it was well worth it. I drank x beers and ate y burgers, where x is probably somewhere between 8 and 12 and y>4
  2. The problem is that Donovan also isn't a great finisher, so where does that leave him? I think he will end up playing upfront as long as Reyna is healthy, but it's not ideal, either. I had heard rumblings about Beasley being bad at Einhoven, but is there a reason for it? Maybe all the hard challenges are taking their toll... I'd play Donovan in an advanced right wing position, basically opposite Beasley.
  3. Does anyone know if the Cubs get any revenue from the ads on the rooftops, like the Miller ads on Sheffield? Nope. The revenues from those go to the building owners. As of several years ago, the number rumored around the neighborhood for the Budweisier rooftop was $250k a season, but that several seasons ago.
  4. Evidently Beasley has been in bad form almost all season at PSV, so his performance yesterday wasn't much of a surprise to those that have seen him a lot this year. Zavagnin is crappy. Donovan needs to play in a more advanced role. he simply can't hold the ball in the midfield. Dempsey drew a hell of a lot of attention and really powered his way through it. he looked pretty good. The Gooch is a hammer in the back.
  5. The young guns for Italy all seemed to be playing at their highest levels in a while. Pirlo, Gilardino, Toni and De Rossi all looked fantastic.
  6. Runs created above average
  7. That I guess I'd be ok with. But seriously, if they stop selling Old Style in the bleachers...
  8. If this means no more Old Style in the bleachers, I will go on a murderous rampage.
  9. That's a question I'm wrestling with as well. I think i'm going to have to either suffer through the day and watch them at night, unless i skip work for the WC games that are during the week. That was the one sort of nice thing about WC 2002-the games were all on at times I was home, even if it meant no sleep. tomorrow's game is getting dvr'd, though. I had a fantastic time with WC 2002. i luckily wasn't working for the opening rounds, and for the later rounds I'd started my job but by that time I just had to get up at 5 AM to watch.
  10. I'm gonna have to get used to this "games during the day" thing. Haven't decided yet if I'm going to ignore the games and download them, and try and live without sports Internet, or whether I'll follow the games in real time and then download them and watch while already knowing what the outcome was.
  11. Last year before the Ryno game AJ Burnett responded to a friend of mine (a guy) telling him he was sexy by licking his fingers and tweaking his own nipple.
  12. That's pretty much how relief pitchers become relief pitchers. It's really not a matter of wanting to convert guys, but the failed starters (and the Cubs will have plenty of those) need to go to the pen to have a chance for a career. I think Browlie needs this to happen ASAP if he wants to do anything. I think Brownlie needs to start taking the jackets off of books.
  13. Ndistops has just shown his age...there are no roving beer saleman in the bleachers. You have to get up and go to the vending locations for beer. As to where those locations will be in the new bleachers...it's anybody's guess. The hot dog guys come around regularly, though. Huh...I could've sworn there was an Old Style guy wandering around last year. Then again, I was paying attention to Z and Wood's pitching masterpieces so I could've been distracted. :) Considering I was in the bleachers for the Jason Jennings masterpiece last year, I definitely noticed the lack of roving beer vendors.
  14. Ndistops has just shown his (lack of) age...there are no roving beer saleman in the bleachers. You have to get up and go to the vending locations for beer. As to where those locations will be in the new bleachers...it's anybody's guess. The hot dog guys come around regularly, though.
  15. I was, but that was the best option even when I tried a piggybacked 3 and 3.
  16. If you selected "best available" you could end up with seats that are ranked better than Upper Deck Box in the system (like Field Box or Terrace Box seats). There were very, very few of these seats for in-demand games, though. I requested best available for the Cards 8/19 game when I got to the ticket window (9:40 AM, I was wristband 11546) and was offered seats in section 438. There were no terrace boxes or better UD boxes available.
  17. Edit: nevermind, away game...
  18. yep. Looks good! And we've got a couple of extras, if people want to jump in, I think....
  19. The game against the Braves? I was there too. Such a bitter day. The only good thing was the Stoney chant during the 7th inning. Yep. That and Jason Dubois making it look like he was a solid corner outfielder for years to come.
  20. Much better to go to opening day than the last game of the season. I went to the last game of the season 2 years ago, complained the entire time, and ended up almost getting in a fight with a guy that taunted Juan Cruz with the same taunt ("Throw the ball up into the stands! Just like where your pitches end up!") for about 15 straight minutes, which he followed up by getting angry at me when I started berating Dusty for some dumb move or another. Also, it was pretty freaking cold.
  21. The NSBB game [5/18] still has bleacher seats avaiable. get on and get a couple. EDIT: They're almost gone though (just checked the numbers, they're at 4150 or so) so hurry if you want 'em.
  22. I'm in and looking at May 26. Has Seth hooked you up yet? take the baton. I'm headed to the grocery store.
  23. 27th is sold out entirely
