  1. Forgive my ignorance of pitching injuries and basic physiology, but was there anything in Cashner's history that would have predicted this? Were his mechanics bad, etc.? A young guy like that presumably shouldn't have shoulder issues mid-way through his first start of the year I would think.
  2. Prior sent down to the Yankees' A affiliate. Kinda surprising he was sent down so far. Given his spring, I would have thought he would end up in AAA. It's not like he's some rookie.
  3. Earthworm genocide: NEVER FORGET!
  4. And I'm pretty sure that he already auditioned for that job this spring training with the Mets and blew it.
  5. And no matter how outdated ERA is as a metric, having a 0.00 will look good on the baseball card.
  6. I think his best bet is to buy a bar in Wrigleyville full of lovable regulars, a acerbic waitress, a bonehead countryboy and Kirstie Alley.
  7. "Amuse you like a birthday clown." Well, I found a new phrase to use on a regular basis.
  8. I love when Barry Rosner, Phil Rogers and Paul Sullivan get drunk together and do a group post.
  9. The MLB network is so freaking bad. I briefly saw a 30 clubs in 30 days episode, I can't remember which team. Harlod Renyolds unloaded this gem (parahprasing), "In order to be more consistent they need to get better as a team". What the [expletive] is that supposed to mean? I think that was just Harold's attempt to take over for Joe Morgan's role of a vet who has no business commenting on baseball.
  10. Huh? Lou penciled him into the top of the lineup almost every day when he had no business being there. He was one of Lou's pets Yeah, but he had no idea how Theriot was performing. Remember he was shocked that Ryan hadn't taken a walk in over a month? Given the way last season played out, I'm pretty sure Lou just put in the previous day's lineup with no forethought.
  11. Considering Lou barely knew he was on the roster, I don't see anyone taking a vested interest in having Theriot change his approach to hitting.
  12. It's times like these when I miss HoopsCubs.
  13. I've never actually met Kennedy. After Avatar, who knows what's real any more?
  14. Somewhere Buzz Bissinger is busy writing the foreward, afterward, glowing review and another book on just how awesome this book is. And how the Internet sucks.
  15. So basically Mark Grace with more speed?
  16. Note to self: never play basketball with a pickup I think that's why Joey Gathright always jumped over cars.
  17. Bleacher traffic could be a problem You'd think they would divert the bleacher line exclusively down Waveland on these days. Right. So they'd have to keep one of either Sheff or Waveland open, is my point They need to keep Waveland specifically open because of the firehouse.
  18. New York's a large enough population to have enough people that hate both the Yankees and Mets to support a 3rd team. I'd be all for moving a couple of the teams already out there. Send one to NYC and another to Vegas. Vegas will need an indoor facility first, but I definitely like the idea. Although Vegas has taken a rather mighty hit with the economy lately. The foreclosure rate there might be higher than anywhere in the country right now. It's probably not the ideal time to consider it there right now. Good point. Once the economy recovers more it's probably the one last major untapped market where a baseball team could do well. Pete Rose for owner!
  19. From a virtual waiting room to a virtual line. My virtual legs are going to be tired of standing.
  20. They have to cut corners somewhere if they're going to be able to afford Pujols.
  21. I like how the beat writer threw in that dusty has been wrongfully accused of destroying pitchers. Way to stay objective pal!
  22. Brewers offense is more potent that the Cubs though. I'm just hoping for a regression by the Reds.
  23. Buster Onley is reporting that the Cards will be in hot pursuit of Kevin Millwood. Bring on the pixie dust!
  24. Jaime Garcia now under pressure not to have sophomore slump.
