  1. Thanks for showing me this information. I was unaware of any other rankings and predictions. Good to know.
  2. I think you're right and he stays a pen guy. He was awful as a reliever in 23 and 24. Are they going to use his one great year of his career, or use his whole career, which has been pretty bad? You seem to be convinced that they will be using his one great season. You may be right about that. We'll see soon enough what they are going to be going by.
  3. Honestly, I don't know. I think it's going to be around 6 million AAV as a reliever.
  4. I think a lot of it depends on whether he's signed as a SP or RP. No?
  5. Crowd Source has been pretty spot on so far this season except for Cease who got 4 million more AAV than predicted. I think Kellers MVA on Spotrac is a joke. But they did show their comps to justify it. I think he gets in the 2/12 range or about 6 mil AAV. I think that Fairbanks get in the 10 million AAV.
  6. Yes sir. Those are the numbers. I'm not arguing about the numbers. I'm saying that it looks very much like Fairbanks is going to get paid more than Keller.
  7. If we just use Spotrac's market value analysis, and Crowd Source, it looks like Fairbanks "could" cost a lot more. Right now, I don't know of any other thing to use as a starting point. Spotrac Keller 1/1.8 Fairbanks 3/44 Crowd Source Keller 2/12 Fairbanks 2/16
  8. I think that Keller is a better option than Fairbanks. And not just because of the cost to production, but because of Fairbanks Raynaud's Syndrome.
  9. This pretty much sums it up
  10. No it does not. Look at Ohtani. They are getting hit with 46 million a year on their CBT payroll for each of the first 10 years and only paying him 2 million a year. After that, they are on the hook for 68 million a year for the next 10 years, but pay zero against the CBT as it was already for in the first 10 years.
  11. We have a disconnect here. It was asked why the cubs don't like to defer money. My opinion was that since they don't like long contracts, they would dislike it even more if they deferred it even longer.
  12. It's not an argument. The team does not like long term contracts. They would like it even less if they had to extend payment even longer, when the player is no long playing. Any player!!
  13. Come on man! Insert any player in his mid 20's and the deal is not going to happen for 12 years. You're splitting hairs right now.
  14. How do you think they would feel if Dansby's contract for the same exact money spanned out over 12 years? The signing would have never happened.
  15. I think that it's a lot simpler than this. They don't like long contracts. Deferred money just makes the payout even longer. Like you, I don't have proof of this, but if they don't want a guy on the payroll for 8 years, they certainly wouldn't want him for 12 years.
  16. The first quote is a fact and a complaint. The second quote is what he would like them to do. The two statements are not related.
  17. I think you're right. I read that the experts feel like it's going to be in the 6/150 range.
  18. I agree with this. They barrel up balls against him. He gets hit hard. He walks too many guys. He's more of a flyball pitcher. He's fine if we already had him, but it looks like most of his value comes from being cheap and having 2 years control.
  19. Your first option is the best option. We need a utility infielder on the bench anyway. It can always be Shaw and he takes over 2B next season in the event they let Nico walk.
  20. Since they have nobody in the pipeline to take Nico's spot, I think it makes more sense to trade Nico for some pitching, save well over 10 million for more pitching, and move Shaw to 2B. Shaw has 6 years of control, and needs more time to see what we have in him.
  21. His value both on the field and payroll is fantastic. Money aside, would they be better with Bregman and Shaw, and Nico's return? Or Shaw and Nico? Not to mention the savings to get pitching. I love Nico, but they can't just let Nico and 4 other guys just walk to free agency after this season. Can they? Not to mention 3 additional players with options.
  22. I agree with this. I'm just saying that they can always move Nico and save 11 million or whatever it is. I think if they don't plan on adding a couple of years to Nico, they should be shopping him.
  23. The extension would start in 2027 when they will have more than enough money to extend him for 2-3 years.
  24. If they sign a 3B, it could also mean that Nico is on the market in his walk year, sliding Shaw over to 2B. It makes much more sense to trade a one year rental than a minimum salary player with 6 years of control
  25. Roberts is still pre arb and is still on the 40.
