  1. If he's claimed, the Cubs still pay his contract, minus the minimum salary for both this year and next year.
  2. They are eating 54 million
  3. I wouldn't call 37 games, of which 10 of them he never saw the field, and 99 PA's an opportunity. It was more like, "see, we called him up and he sucked, now stop talking about him." He was not give an opportunity.
  4. My numbers include Happ at 20.3 million, and Nico at 11.7 million. It does not include and of the three options, which will probably not come in to play anyway. It includes all 0-3 guys. It does not include arb guys. They are going to be very cheap, and some won't be tendered contracts.
  5. It's about 100 million with Stro's contracts gone.
  6. If you have the ability to merge every one, then that's the answer.
  7. Going 2-2 is what the Reds are hoping for. It would be a huge waste of opportunity for the Cubs to split this series. It would be a huge win for the Reds if the came out of Wrigley with the Cubs not gaining any ground on them.
  8. The Braves are trying to help us today and it looks like we're not going to take advantage of it
  9. With the report that Belli and Stroman are now off the market, and the Cubs will not be sellers, do you think this is true, or are the Cubs posturing. I just don't know how this is going to help now, and in the near future. As in, next year.
  10. The problem is that I don't think that Jed has an aggressive bone in his body. That needs to change.
  11. WTF is this??? How old are you??
  12. I agree! And because of the lost pick, the player has to be penalized too.
  13. I have no idea at all. But it just "feels" like a team shouldn't be able to terminate the contract by not picking up his option, and still benefit from being able making him a QO. And it hurts the player to carry that tag around with him.
  14. Thanks Brock! But what if it's just a team option? I'm probably wrong, but it seem odd that they can not pick up the option, essentially terminating the contract, and then still make him a QO. That seems unfair to the player. I would assume that to be able to make a QO, that the contract has to expire naturally, of mutually.
  15. Maybe you guys can help me out. If a player has an option, and it's not picked up, can the team still make a QO? I don't know the answer, but I feel like once you decline the option, he should be a FA. He shouldn't have the QO attached to him. Thanks fellas!
  16. What I'm trying to say is that I think that the return is going to be underwhelming based on them being salary dumps. I think the Cards would take very little just to free up this money. JMO
  17. Based on their contracts vs production, Nolan is several million of negative surplus, and Goldi in positive about the same amount that Arenado is negative. Between the two of them, I think that their surplus is zero. They would have to pay this year's salary of about 19.5 million, minus the 5 million the Rockies pay. If not, I'd expect them to get a JAG for a return.
  18. I think that all 3 are off the table with a one for one trade. I think the Cubs would have to add a good prospect with Stroman. And that's obviously paying Stro's contract.
  19. Are there any actual players that are ready now Cubs needs, that they can get for our trade options? I don't see anything that excites me. I think that the Cubs are going to have to add prospect(s) to get players that can help the team next season.
  20. What's up NSBB, and PSD alum! I've been on PSD since 2006. I've seen guys come and go for one reason or another. PSD was the first site on logged on in the morning to check out what I missed when I was sleeping. I'm going to have to get used to a new format simply because it's different. It's great to see some names that I've spoken to for many years about the Cubs. Some topics we agreed on, but most we didn't. But honestly, that's ok. There's not a lot of interest or fun when everybody is blowing each other on how much they agree with each other. Let's get this party started!
  21. What's up JD? I'm checking this place out also! Glad to see a familiar face right away. It's going to take some time to get used to a new format. At my age, I don't like change! I know for a fact that we'll be chatting!
