  1. I can't imagine that he's not on the 26 man roster, and starting both of those regular season games. He's healthy, and he's making the trip. It's not to watch or just play in exhibition games.
  2. Hahaha... Hollowell? Maybe 60 DL Assad or Little?
  3. Now we can't trust Mooney??? Hahaha
  4. Yes, putting a weak ball in play is better than striking out. Celebrated??? What?
  5. Of course it is. You're talking about making 2 outs. That's moving the goal posts. It's not a choice of striking out or hitting in to a double play.
  6. I'm not saying that overall, it doesn't change run scoring. I'm saying that I can't find a worse way to make an out. If there's a worse way to make an out in a single at bat, I don't know what it is. Obviously, I'm not talking about situational at bats.
  7. I could not disagree more. Making an out without even putting the ball in play is the bottom out maker.
  8. Strikeouts are the worst way to make an out. Usually an out is an out. But making an out without putting the ball is play is the worst way to make an out.
  9. I love your stuff Matt, but his is so wired to read. Teams don't give a crap about anything but winning. Why would skin color be brought in to this in 2025?? This write is just crazy!
  10. I agree 100%. I was just pointing out that they should be on the list of players who still had options. Literally, they have options. Realistically, they would not accept their option assignment.
  11. Exactly! Very, very few owners put winning over profits.
  12. Of the 5 bench guys you listed, which one doesn't make the roster?
  13. All 5 players should get about 10-12 games off without injuries. When any OF gets a day off, he'll likely DH. He'll likely see maybe 15 games at 1B. That could be 50 or more starts without an injury. Add in pinch hitting, and he'll see plenty of action for a bench guy.
  14. I think he gets 250-300 PA's
  15. A Nightengale article. Now I'm seeing that he said that the 220 number is the cash payroll and not the CBT payroll. Using that number, their end of season CBT payroll would land in the upper 230's.
  16. I hope it's the "real money" payroll! But whenever any team talks about payroll, it's always the CBT payroll. Right now the Cubs real money payroll is about 191.2 million, with the CBT payroll number at around 209.4.
  17. Nightengale isn't the most accurate reporter, but he's certainly not a liar. Unless the front office guy flat out lied, it looks like 220 is their budget. They did say that the Cody money is not going back in to payroll, but will be reallocated to another part of the team.
  18. If we assume that Nightengale or his front office source wasn't lying about the new budget being 220 million, they are pretty much done spending, while leaving about 10 million to spend during the season.
  19. It's a lot easier for the fan to realize that they didn't purchase the team to win baseball games. They purchased the team to make money. Winning is a secondary bonus.
  20. This didn't age well.
  21. SD is not looking to take back salary. They are in dump mode.
  22. Do you have a source or link for this? Thanks!
  23. I rethought this a little bit. He should be able to have 30 starts with his new elbow. But there's a good chance they have a 6 man rotation, and his starts are lowered because of that. Maybe down to 26 starts? But I don't think his starts will be limited due to injury. I think it may be limited just because of the roster construction. And yes, closer to 140 innings is logical.
  24. Like 1908 said, his repeated issue has been repaired. Barring a different injury, he should most certainly have 30 starts and 160 innings. His reoccurring injury has been fixed. I could be on an island here, but I expect him to be a very very good pitcher for us now that his elbow problems are behind him.
