  1. Remember when we wondered if Geo would be able to beat Kosuke out for it? Now he's not even in the top 20.
  2. This offer has evolved a little bit...Fitz and Julius Jones for Boldin and Evans. I'm killing on RBs (I still have Portis, Gore, and Ernest Graham on top of Jones), but don't have much depth at receiver after Fitzgerald. Would anyone else do this deal? Boldin is a question mark and Evans has only made 16 receptions so far. Fitzgerald is a stud and will get more thrown his way until Boldin returns, if he returns. I think you would be giving up too much for an injured player and one that hasn't had a lot of touches. I'm gearing more for the postseason (wks 12-17) than I am for now. I've already clinched making the postseason, so I'm trying to look ahead and set my team. Evans will be lining up against alot of weak defenses in those weeks. But, I think you're right, I'm going to ask for more. I also think Boldin will be more or less equaling Fitz by the time wk 12 rolls around, but I'm aware that's a large gamble on my part. I'm thinking he'll be rusty the first couple of games, then the defenses will start stacking on Fitz more and giving him more open looks. Let's see if I can get something else in return on top of that.

  4. Theriot is a better 2b than he is a shortstop, and the office has repeatedly demonstrated a lack of committment to making DeRosa "The Man" at any one given position. I could see them getting Furcal, sliding Theriot over, and DeRo getting more time in RF with a smattering of 2b/3b starts.
  5. As a centerpiece, no. As a throw in, I bet you'll find a few GMs that would love to get him packed into a deal.
  6. Even if he does project how you think, that's still a crappy deal for Peavy. It's far easier to come by guys who have his projectability and have produced at his level already than it is to come by guys like Peavy.
  7. Giles has repeatedly stated and proven that he won't play for anyone other than a west coast team. He blocked the trade to Boston just a couple of months ago. Everyone knows there is a 0% chance of him ever coming here. I'm all for coming up with crazy trade ideas, but there's a difference between crazy ideas and proposals that we know 100% absolutely for sure won't happen. Let's just stop all of the talk about Giles right here and now.
  8. They have Phil Hughes and Ian Kennedy, 2 guys that a lot of teams would love to get their hands on, especially one about to embark on a full rebuilding phase. Also, Im thinking that the Pads will try to package Peavy and Khalil Green like the Marlins did with Becket and Mike Lowell, in which if a team wants Peavy, they'l have to take Green as well. Greene as a throw in for Peavy? Where do I sign up? I'd be all about buying low on Greene. If they're looking to dump him after a bad year, they're essentially giving up on him and selling low. I'm all about buying low on him. I bet they'd be interested in Theriot to replace him. He's cheap, has a decent amount of time until his FA years come up, doesn't project to be too terribly expensive, and is one of those "gritty" guys that the fans love. If we can't put something worthwhile together for Peavy, and they're trying to use Peavy to dump Greene, then heck, I say offer Theriot for Greene straight up. That said, I didn't think they were that down on him that they'd be looking to dump him in a package deal like that.
  9. I've been offered Lee Evans and Anquan Boldin for Larry Fitz and Devin Hester...this one has got me thinking twice...
  10. Ryan Longwell. He sucks every time I start him, he puts up huge numbers every time I bench him. I miss every time with him. I finally lost in my head to head league for the first time this week because of him. I had the second highest overall score for the week, but lost 110-113 because of him.
  11. I agree that it's a longshot that the Pads would be interested in Harden, but I think this is a case where a 3-way deal would be highly workable. I like Harden, but I think he's only as good as Peavy when both are 100%. Peavy's ability to be at or near 100% for most of the season makes him far more valuable than Harden, IMO. On the other hand, Harden can put butts in seats like Peavy did when he's healthy, and they'd probably like to get someone that draws fans and a prospect or two, instead of just a bunch of prospects.
  12. Harden + Hill + Pie? Too much? I wonder if they'd be interested in Harden. I'd be willing to part with him for Peavy if we didn't otherwise have the goods to get Peavy. Either that, or offer Harden up in a 3 way to someone who is.
  13. I would, seeing as how Griffey can't hit anymore. They said the same about Thomas before Beane picked him up.
  14. I had to stop watching at about the 4 min mark, I couldn't make it all of the way through.
  15. Depends on who else was out there fighting for him, which raises a good question. Who else out there needs a CF, can afford the rest of his contract, and has anything to give away? With Beltrans contract, you can eliminate alot of the small market teams. With fewer people going for him, he might just come a little cheaper than expected. I don't know who would make a play for him.
  16. It'll take 5 or more players like Fontenot, Marquis, Wuertz, etc. It might take less if you're talking about Marmol, DeRosa, Marshall, or Lilly. If we give them 5 players for Beltran, we're going to have to take on some crap to help their 25 and 40 man rosters as well. Any deal we make for a good player, hopefully Hendry tries to build it around Theriot. Sell high on him. As far as Beltran and the Mets, their bullpen was a disaster last year. Any proposal without Marmol isn't going to go very far with them. We have a cheap, premium guy at a position of need for them. If we're not going to help them with their main position of need, then why would they do business with us?
  17. I could see some AL team signing him on to be a DH. I wouldn't be horribly surprised to see Beane pick him up like he did Thomas a couple of years ago.
  18. I bet they'd at least give serious thought to Marmol, Theriot, and Pie. We'd be hard pressed to get them to not demand Marmol in any deal for him, I think.
  19. There's always the risk of rookie RBs hitting a wall in the second half. Will that apply to Forte? Hard to tell. I don't know how Orton's newfound passing game is going to affect him. On one hand, defenses have to play more honestly, which is good for him, but on the other, he won't touch the rock as many times if he keeps it up. Trading Forte now arguably could be a case of trying to sell high. As for OC, hard to tell if he's going to get back on track this year. I like Johnson more for the second half than Forte (barely) for the reasons stated above, but it's close. That leaves the rest of the trade as Eli for Williams or OC. That's not a fair deal there, I'd want more back on that. You can also frame this deal to the other guy that you're giving up two guys who have been reliable scorers all year (Eli and Forte) for two guys who neither are sure things to do well on any given week. I'd ask for both OC and Williams if you're interested in those two, and add some crap from your bench so the numbers work.
  20. A guy I work with has a stellar core of receivers...Boldin, Roddy White, Reggie Wayne, Lee Evans, Bernard Berrian, and Kevin Walter. I'm not bad, but not nearly as good on receivers. I have Fitzgerald, Cotchery, Hester, Edwards, and Engram. Here's the twist: He's a Pitt alum, and went to school with Fitzgerald. He really wants him, and had offered me Boldin for him straight up just before Boldin got hurt. I didn't make the move at the time, and he was a little hesitant on that move anyways. He's not hesitant anymore, for obvious reasons. He has 4 of the top 11 scoring receivers (Boldin, White, Wayne, and Evans). I'm thinking about upping the offer with him. I'm looking at offering a Fitz for Bolding (after this Sunday, obviously), but I want to pack another receiver swap on top of that. I want to nab another one of his top four. What would be the best set of second players to pile on top of that offer? Cotchery for White? Hester for Evans? Would that be trying to hard to take advantage of him being a homer for Fitzgerald since he went to school with him?
  21. Dunn is overrated. There's alot of people who consider him to be just a small step behind Pujols as an elite hitter, when he's not even close. He is very good, but calling him great is probably stretching it too much. He's slow, he's one of the greatest defensive liabilities in the NL, and I'd put the over/under on his OPS+ next year at 125, which is very good, but not great. Everyone acts like he's a guy who traditionally puts up OPS+s over 150 or higher every year, when his career high OPS+ is 146, his career average is 130, and his 3 year average is about 127. That's very good, that's not great, and it doesn't consider his other liabilities. He's regarded as comparable in value to players like Berkman, Utley, H Ramirez, Chipper Jones, etc. Some people seem to think of him as highly as Manny (not many, but a few) as a hitter, and he's not even close. I think most people think he's a better hitter than Aramis, who has just as good of a 3 year average OPS+ wise (and, ironically, the exact same OPS+ this year). Aramis is comparable offensively, plays a tougher defensive position and is much better at it. Dunn is likely to get at least 15 mil a year this year, which is about what Aramis gets now. He's not worth Aramis money, not with the other holes in his game. I don't think it's a stretch at all to say that he's overrated. lol...nobody thinks any of those things. Many people act like it. The respect Dunn gets is comparable to those guys.
  22. Quit hogging the bong, bro.
  23. The only team I want to see win is Da Bears.
  24. So is there another package that makes sense for the other guy that he might bite on that doesn't include Fitz, considering how bad his team is and how he needs help at multiple spots?
