  1. There's only one z in Szczur? There's only 1 Z in Scrabble, the blank doesn't net you any points.
  2. Cardinals vs Cubs Tuesday 5/10, 7:05 PM at Wrigley Field Chris Carpenter, RHP 0-2, 4.19 ERA Away: 0-1, 5.50 ERA, 1.556 WHIP Carpenter is off to a rocky start in 2011 and has yet to record a win through his first seven outings. He got hit hard in his last start, on Wednesday vs. Florida, when he allowed six runs (four earned) in six frames and made two errors. Carlos Zambrano, RHP 4-1, 4.23 ERA Home: 0-1, 4.26 ERA, 1.053 WHIP Zambrano picked up the win in his last outing against the Dodgers, his 10th straight win on the road. He has yet to win at home this season in three starts. Against the Cardinals last year, Zambrano was 2-0 with a 2.03 ERA. While you may think a Carp vs. Z outing wouldn't be looking good for the Cubs, so far this year the two pitchers are pretty evenly cruddy. Hopefully Z can build on his last outing. Of course, the MLB.com article previewing this one is leading with "Theriot's return to Wrigley" like that's something that should actually be cared about. GIFs will come later.
  3. I'm sure most Caps fans will say they did. Gotta wonder if Boudreau will be fired. 4 straight divs, 2 straight conferences, and not making to even the conf. final in those years? Somethings probably going to change.
  4. The only problem with that is that the Cubs already only have 4 starters.
  5. "Locker is a throwback who would play without a face mask." Sooo...he's an idiot?
  6. That was hilarious. I clicked on NHL.com, saw that it was still 1-0 Nucks with 2:15 left, came here to see how the BH fans were taking it (was expecting you guys to be pretty accepting and what not) and scrolled through the Toews reaction and almost fell out of my chair.
  7. Their pitchers pay attention to runners while the Cubs' pitchers think the runner is a figment of their imagination. Veneble was almost halfway to second on his steal by the time the ball was going home.
  8. Eh, he probably could have caught it without diving. That ball just refused to land.
  9. Not according to thebaseballcube.com They have him at a 12.56 WHIP :banghead: Always thought their stats were reliable. Lesson learned. http://thebaseballcube.com/profile.asp?P=Joseph-Coleman I think they're somehow multiplying his WHIP by 10. Don't know why or how, but it matches up. I've been trying to figure out where the number came from and I can't. I used both hits and hits+walks divided by the innings and then multiplied by both 9 and 10 and the closest I've come is 13/(10 2/3)*10, which is 12.19. It appears to be messing up WHIP for every pitcher, but not by some set parameter: Gio Gonzalez is 2-0 with a .47 ERA with a 63.79 WHIP (actual: 1.263).
  10. Casey Coleman as a starter in the majors: W L ERA GS IP H R ER HR BB IBB SO WHIP SO/9 SO/BB 4 2 3.69 9 53.2 55 23 22 5 21 2 24 1.416 4.0 1.14 Yeah, he's not likely to continue doing this well, but to pretend that he's been a failure based on one start is idiotic. As a spot/5th starter, a team could do a lot worse...like James Russell or Jeff S.
  11. That would require control, which Garza apparently has none of.
  12. Garza had 1 pitch in the zone that last AB according to the graphic. He needs some help, cause right now he's crap.
  13. I was really confused for a second when I turned it on and saw some guy running down the line in 42 and couldn't figure out who it was, then saw it was Starlin and got even more confused when I realized "42...wait."
  14. Remember Prince is a Boras client, and Scott is going to probably use the A-Gon deal as his measuring stick. There are more teams than the Red Sox and Yanks out there with money that would be willing to spend big for either Princ or Pujols. The Angels, Dodgers, and Mets could all be very much in the race, and teams like the Mariners, Orioles, and maybe even the Nationlals could get in on the fun. The Blue Jays recently dumped that massive Wells contract, so they could be in. Dodgers and Mets definitely cant afford him. Angels have Morales at 1B and just took on that awful Wells contract, which will make another big contract hard to fit. Mariners have Smoak as their long term 1B (and Jack Z doesn't seem the type to overspend) and the Nats just signed LaRoche to a multiyear deal. Of the teams you listed, I only see the Orioles and Blue Jays as teams that will likely be in on the bidding. The Nats signed LaRoche to a 2 year deal ($8mm next year, 3rd year option, $1mm buyout). He can be moved next off-season if they needed to.
  15. You said "better" not "a whole hell-of-a-lot worse."
  16. Considering he was called up after Wells/Cashner went on the DL, he's only been on the roster for 4 days.
  17. FTH? I clicked on this thread expecting angry/wildly overreactive comments and instead walk into the middle of a conversation about two poeple I don't know and others are offering congrats or something. You people are slipping.
  18. http://images.pubcrawler.com/logos/l618-11052001-880.jpg
  19. His second homer and triple in his 4 year career. I knew there was a reason he was untouchable all those years. No cycle. 4-6 2 2B, 1 3B, 1 HR. Great game, but missed the cycle.
  20. BOOOOOOOOOOOOO. Wait, sorry, Pavlovian response.
  21. Drop Carlos Pena Add Nelson Cruz
  22. Call him up damn it! Seriously? No. Its a frick'n joke owing to the Cubs recent struggles with runners on.
  23. You only remember that double because that's the only thing of note he's done this season. He's 1-10 with runners on.
