  1. Trading Steele now would pretty much mean they're giving up on 2025 too, and I just don't see them doing that unless the return brings from the trading team two of their top 5 prospects. Cubs aren't far off from actually competing next year IF hoyer can make good moves, they have Steele and Imanaga with a couple of good young arms for the rotation and bullpen. They just need to add another reliable SP, a closer, and add a couple of solid bats to the lineup.
  2. I've seen enough of PCA to see he's not going to be much of a hitter at the Major League level
  3. Game over... Cubs pitchers have no margin for error with this offense
  4. I forgot about Assad Taillon, I would trade now if they can get a decent offer
  5. Imanaga (30) and Steele (29) are the two guys you build around now. I don't think there's a true Ace available via FA unless Cole opts out, but I'd like to see them add a solid veteran SP to go with Steele and Imanaga. Then go with two of these guys to fill out the bottom of rotation. Assad(27) Wicks(24) Brown(24) Kilian(27) Wesneski(26) Horton(22) Franklin (24)
  6. That the problem with this team that I've been saying all along, they have a bunch of guys that will look good for a few games and make you think they figured it out but then go cold for a long stress.
  7. Cause the Cubs only last 3 minutes when they bat πŸ˜…
  8. Cracks me up when they do interviews with Jed or Hawkins when the Cubs bat and 3 minutes later it's over cause they went 1-2-3 in less then 10 pitches πŸ˜…
  9. It'll be a long long time before they sell and give up this cash cow...
  10. Cubs have to be close to having the most games of scoring 2 or fewer runs, this is their 8th shutout.
  11. Ross ? Of pitchers, id see what we can get for... Hendricks, Taillon, Smyly, Leiter, and Neris Won't he much but it'll open up roster spots for younger guys to come up and showcase themselves for 2025
  12. This team is pretty much what I figured it would be back in May, only theyre just a bit worse. Me, I would trade away the players if the return was good enough that I don't feel will be a significant part of this team in 2 years. I'd bring up guys that are ready and will or could be a part of this team going forward, and let them finish out the season.
  13. Glad to see the bats didn't rust over the break, theyre still the same πŸ™„πŸ™„πŸ™„
  14. If that the case then they should look to trade him and get pitching in return. I'm sure there will be playoff teams willing to part with a good A or AA pitching prospect for his bat. They have or can add in offseason a player who can mainly be a DH all season for them.
  15. They don't have much to sell if they go that route but if they make any major moves either way, they likely will wait til the 31st. So, yea they have 11 games til then and to move the needle to adding significant players for a strong playoff push, im gonna say they'll need to win at least 7 of them. Otherwise, I think theyll basically stay as is with some minor moves both ways, adding and subtracting.
  16. But they will make great trades and add good FA and have a contending roster😏😏😏
  17. Don't they usually split them ?
  18. Cost cutting so they can add another depth minor league reliever
  19. Unless the cubs have a top 5 pick in a draft that has exceptional talent coming out of college, it hard for me to get excited or disappointed about any picks they make because it usually a 3 to 5 year wait on these kids to see if they have major league talent.
  20. Quick question for the draft tonight, can teams trade up or just into the compensation picks. Wondering if the Cubs can add picks tonight
  21. Hope this isn't going to be one of those little hot streaks in July that will make Hoyer rethink about doing much of anything and basically stay as is with these guys. He'll say something like, we got guys coming off the IL that will help us the rest of the way and we feel strongly about our chances with the guys we have. Then they play under 500 ball in August πŸ™„πŸ™„πŸ™„
  22. Off topic but I just saw an article on Ace Daigle, he a 6'8 230# HS senior in Louisiana, he's the son of Chris Daigle former D-back pitcher and Jennie Finch Arizona and USA Olympic softball pitcher. If he's available for the Cubs, I hope he's drafted just on his gene alone πŸ˜… https://x.com/PrepBaseballLA/status/1801076379036897412?t=D0WKGB6jLZNy_Ihv0cVfNA&s=19
  23. If Hoyer is taking offers on Bellinger, im sure he'll take the safe route and IL him now so that he'll be healthy after the break and get a few games in to show it.
