  1. Dodgers get Glasnow
  2. PCA, Mervis, Caissie, Alcantara, Brown, Wicks, Canairo, McGeary, BJ Murray, Davis, Vazquez, Kilian, Little, Hodge, Aliendo, Franklin.... All with ETA of 2023 and 2024. Here a crazy what IF .. What if Hoyer/Carter plan for 2024 is to play their young guys throughout the season and see who ready to stay up. They dont sign anyone to a big multi year contract, just short deals, and instead of trading their top prospects, they play them all or the ones that force their way up. Next offseason, theyll have more then enough money to go after Soto and another top player , theyll have a good idea about a few of their kids, who to trade, who to keep. Outside pf possibly bringing Bellinger back, I think this could be their plan to fill in 1B, CF, and 3B this coming season. Go with the young arms in the rotation and bullpen
  3. I just never let myself get overly excited about the offseason with the cubs because I just dont expect them to make big moves. If they do, then I'll be happy, like with the Counsell hiring, if not, then it just buisness as usual on the Northside. I think Carter Hawkins kinda spilled the beans a bit on what their plan is for this offseason when he mentioned about not blocking certain prospects with new additions. Cubs basically need a 1B, 3B, and CF as far as position players goes, they dont really have a guy outside of Mervis for 1B, so they can get a quality bat there. They do have Shaw and a couple other SS that could possibly move to 3B and PCA for CF, so the most likely scenario for those two spots this offseason is to add a 1 or 2 yr bridge player to fill in til they're ready.
  4. I hope I'm around in 10 years to see how the Dodgers wiggle out of having Ohtani 68 mil not go towards the Tax Threshold for the 10 yrs. he sitting at home collecting that money. Also will be interesting to see if teams start to use that more with future FA
  5. Bellinger and a TOR pitcher would be enough to likely run that division. Would like to see them also add a LH bat to platoon with Wisdom at DH. A true closer and a 1Bmen I wouldn't mind Morel taking over 3B from the start of ST and see how it goes
  6. Right, add a bullpen arm or a bench guy, something that shows he actually on the phone and talking to people. 😅
  7. I wasn't saying they should trade him , I was just responding to a post that mentioned him playing 1B and just suggested I'd rather they just trade him then having him move to 1B.
  8. Lotta players with NTC have gotten traded over the years. Most of these guys just want to be able to choose the team(s) they will play for that interested in trading for them.
  9. I'd rather they trade Happ for a pitcher or even a good prospect.
  10. One thing i wish Hoyer would be, and that is be more aggressive in going after the guys he wants over waiting and ending up with the leftovers in January.
  11. Agree, he one I wouldn't mind if they offered a 10 yr deal to.
  12. Sad as the Cubs aren't going to be real players for any of the big named players likely. Maybe next offseason
  13. Soto gonna be looking for close to a billion next offseason and he'll just be 25. 😅
  14. Nah, he got Wisdom and Madrigal manning 3B until Shaw is ready 🙄
  15. It means I somewhat answered the posters question about what the cubs possibly offered by telling him what I had saw. 🤷‍♂️
  16. Not sure if it was for him or not, I think it was, but I saw something where they may have offered him something that had opt outs in them after 3 or 4 years.
  17. One thing to be interested, it another to actually be serious players.. Everyone and the mothers knew Ohtani was going to be at the very least 10/500 so why make it seem like you're interested if you never had any intentions of being serious bidders
  18. Ohtani probably goes to Dodgers or stays in Anaheim. Soto about to get moved to the Yankees. And now no Yamamoto... I just dont think the Cubs were ever going to sign or add any big names this offseason. Hoskins and mid range players were probably the most they were going to do.
  19. I learned a long time ago not to get hopeful with any big time players that available for any of my chicago sports teams. Why I don't get too involved with talking about adding this guy or that guy and feel it more likely they take the mid to low end players then the big stars. My thought for this offseason was they would bring back Bellinger, add a TOR SP, and then guys that would bridge them til certain prospects were ready. I never felt they would spend on Ohtani or trade any of their top prospects for 1 year of Soto or Alonso
  20. It wouldn't be a bad thing IF Hoyer plan is to add a couple players this offseason at a reasonable cost and years that keeps him under the Threshold or just over it, and spend the season bringing up his top players and then be extra aggressive next offseason via FA (Soto), whomever the hot Japanese player that comes out, and trades because the payroll will be wide open then.
  21. Please dont tell me you'd take Swanson over Soto based on that
  22. Orioles and Kimbrel agree to a deal
  23. I dont think they do at all.. Swanson is probably the closest to that but he not quite there IMO. I think Bellinger would be a good start if they brought him back, but what the cubs have now on their roster are just guys that their high mark is probably just having a good season that might make them AllStars. They are guys that has to rely on getting hot for X amount of games to be useful.
  24. Cubs are playing in the shallow end of the pool.. Hoyer not going to give out big multi yr deals to anyone. He gonna make a trade for SP and go hard after Hoskins and someone to bridge CF until PCA is ready. I really believe what Carter said about not blocking the prospects. Horton, PCA and Shaw are tye key players their waiting on now along with Caissie, Alcantara, and Brown.
  25. Maybe they are pivoting from Ohtani because they possibly have a deal/trade pending for Soto and or someone else and didn't want anything leaked out.
