  1. Man, Imagine if the cubs can pull off a basketball big 3, and get Ohtani, and Yamamoto to join Suzuki. Talk about the money they'll make off of merchandise alone from oversees and here. They would be sold out and jam packed for every home game and probably road games too, the revenue from ticket sales alone would pay their salaries 😅
  2. Trevor Bauer was at the meeting, yea or nay on him ?

  4. Morel would more then likely be a guy they trade if they do go after one of Soto, Alonso, or a TOR SP. I wouldn't look too much into him playing 1B, if anything it just another position they can play him at to keep his bat in the lineup during the season if they do keep him.
  5. Problem in most cases is who they spend it on and over spending to get certain players in on a 1 or 2 yr deal.

  7. Turner would probably play 3B for the most part
  8. Wonder who Counsell will add as hitting coach and especially pitching coach with the young guys up and coming up ?
  9. Got a notification on my phone that started with Cubs extend Bellinger, got all excited just to see that it was just the QO was extended to him 😅
  10. Kinda like the Madden situation, a good manager became available and they jumped at him.
  11. Wow, did not expect that and to hire Counsell. I just hope this also means some very good players are coming too
  12. There are currently 14 players that are playing under a 10+ year contract, and 9 of them were FA that signed their contract with a new team. There are currently 11 players that are playing with a contract of 8 or 9 yrs, and just 3 of those players have signed with a new team as a FA. Only 9 of all these FA have signed their 8+ year deals in last 5 seasons. So, as said, the 8+ and 10+ years being given to FA and especially FA leaving their current/original team are just not a thing being offered much anymore. As far as Hoyer goes, I'd be surprise if he ties up big money on a 30 YO for 10 years, not sure having 35-40 mil tied up into one player from age 35 to 39 is a good idea with an owner like Ricketts who sets low budgets
  13. I said we won't see as many, I didn't say we won't see any.. Plus we are seeing the younger studs signing extensions with their original teams pass their ARB years now.. We are seeing very few top players becoming FA at age 27-30 now, and only a very few of them are getting 8+ to 10+ year deals. And difference now then years ago is the Threshold Cap, majority of teams just aren't going to tie up big money into guys that are 35+ anymore for multiple yrs. and we don't see many kids coming up and being full time starters in their early 20s as much nowadays like before.
  14. Cubs have picked up options on both Hendricks and Gomes for 2024.. So, as of now the rotation sits at Steele, Taillon, and Hendricks
  15. I honestly never heard of any of them 🤷‍♂️
  16. We likely won't see many 8+, let alone 10+ FA deals anymore because the majority of the top stud players don't become FA until late 20s early 30s after they finish out their 5-7 yrs of being controlled by their original team, and alot of those guys may even extend with their teams pass their Arbs yrs.. Just dont think teams are over willing to pay top dollars to players after age 35 anymore, especially pitchers.
  17. Reds declined Votto option, if he doesn't retire, i know he 40 but any interest in grabbing him on a 1 yr deal to be the LH DH, but mostly grab him to be in the dugout/clubhouse with the young players. Also wouldn't mind having a guy like him as a hitting coach or bench coach if he's interested in doing that
  18. As far as starters currently on the roster goes for 2024.. Steele, Taillon, Wicks, Assad, Wesneski, and Smily Hendricks Club option Brown,Kilian, Franklin in AAA Stroman and Heyward money off book now, they have about 43 mil extra to spend from that, Bellinger and another TOR SP could fill up that money
  19. He'll get more then the 1 year, may not get 21 mil, but at age 33 in 2024, if he can get himself say 3 yrs at 18 per, he ahead. This is why I hoped and figured he might opt out, looking for that last multi year deal. I'm glad Jed didn't extend him.
  20. my wish came true.....
  21. I'd love to have Ohtani, but if it means having Ohtani and a bunch of cheap lesser players because of Ohtani cost and Ricketts wanting to stay under the Threshold, then I'd prefer to split Ohtani money towards upgrading other positions. My hope for this offseason will be to see them keep Bellinger, add another under 30 quality bat, add an under 30 TOR type SP, and at least 1 strong bullpen arm. I just wanna see progress in their roster to where we can at least see them being successful all season and hopeful for the next couple seasons because of their systems talent are starting to come up and they'll be able to upgrade where needed via trades and future FA.
  22. Let the offseason begin.. Congrats to the Rangers, was hoping they'd win their first championship. https://www.bleachernation.com/cubs/2023/11/02/mlb-dates-deadlines/

  24. Just saw that the Cubs won't be bringing Fulmer back and he'll be a FA... Fine by me, I think they have some good young arms for the pen in theirsystem, and hopefully they can add 1 or 2 upgrades via trade or FA.
  25. Wouldn't shock me if he did opt out.. Sure he'd be giving up on 21 Mil guarenteed for 2024, but at 33, he might be wanting to take a shot at getting signed for a 2+ year deal even if it for 18-20 per. to end his career on.
