I like my chances with these guys against most RHers and not worry too much that theyll be coming up late in a game having to face a RH reliever, even if you split them up with a lefty, 2 of the 3 are facing a RHer...
Yea but id rather put my RBI/Power guys in better position to drive in runs over getting 1 extra AB. On some teams it may not matter, like with the Dodgers and Yankees who have a bunch of middle of order type bats.
I dont mind Busch leading off, I just think Bregman should be 3 or 4, Happ should be 5th or 6th.
Maybe when Suzuki returns he goes into the 4 hole.
Busch Hoerner Bregman Suzuki PCA Happ would imo be much better
Ehhh
I wouldn't put Busch and Bregman in the same category as Ohtani and Tucker, plus Freeman and Smith are typical 4-5 hitters unlike PCA and Hoerner.
I dont mind Busch leading off, but id go with Hoerner PCA Bregman Happ, 2 thru 5.
Yea, I just meant in general that they can trade him.
I realize not many teams gonna be looking to trade for a 34/35 yo SS (or move him to 3B) with 53 mil left on his contract, but IF Rojas shows progression this season and into 2027, I hope they'll find a way to move Swanson even if they have to eat some salary and or take a lesser return.
I doubt Nico getting more than 25 per.
Shaw could be a good trade piece in offseason for pitching.
Rojas is only 20, they dont need to push him, and if he showing signs of being ready to make that jump, they can easily trade Swanson after the 27 season or deadline in 2028.
They may have been banking on Conrad to make a serious jump before his injury, and hoped for Alcantara to do the same, or at least have one of the two to be that guy for 2027.
It a long shot for who available at pick 26, but they can also draft an outfielder there who can possibly make that jump to the big league at some point in 2027 if Conrad or Alcantara aren't ready to be that guy for them.
I'd pass on them...
Both will turn 33 next season, hopefully Alcantara can take that next step up this season and if not in FA, they can trade for a solid OFer.
This is great news
So right now, for the next 3 seasons (27-29) the Cubs are set with...
Amaya, Busch, Hoerner, Swanson, Bregman, PCA, and Ballesteros
Not a bad group to build around
Shaw is gonna be a Bote type for this team, not quite good enough to be a full time starter but a capable bench bat.
Also at the very least, he'll be a decent trade piece
