    A 4 second home to first is elite, you're just mad over eyewash

    I think with any long time Rockie there's some possibility for quick player development wins, as by acquiring them you're essentially time traveling them 10 years into the future. But if he just is who he is, hard hard hard hard pass. Money is way too tight next season to burn that much on him.

    I'm excited. The ceiling is probably not super high unless he can really level up at 3B, but the bat is legit. Maybe the most likely guy at Iowa to be an above average player?

    I'll say if xFIP and xERA both agree on a guy it takes a *lot* to make me think there's something they're both missing. Like we're a couple hundred innings into Assad doing this and I still don't feel confident in it being sustainable moving forward.

    I just went back and watched the play because I was curious and the complaint is even more silly than I realized. He absolutely ran it out.

    I'd be pretty surprised if Wiggins were moved. Both for the lack of other high velo SP arms on the farm and for his 40 man status.

    Same, pretty similar to Brown on Monday. Ugly box score but ultimately a lot more good than bad IMO.

    Wiggins got smacked around a bit but has 9 Ks through 4. At 81 pitches he probably gets to at least start the 5th?

    I probably wouldn't have sent Shaw down in the first place, so glad he's back up. Relatively soft landing here too over the next two weeks. The Reds' pitching staff is solid, but A) they obviously play in a bandbox and B) we're getting their lefties which should bode well for Shaw. Jonny Long needs to slide over to 3B at Iowa. If he's even adequate in the field he's next man up if Shaw flops IMO.

    FG gave him 50's or better on everything but his fastball, so definitely not JAG. I think he's similar to Connor Noland. Not a guy I'm writing into the projected 2027 rotation, but someone who seems destined for quality big league innings and should be pretty valuable through at minimum his option years. Javier Assad without the huge ERA/FIP delta basically?

    The Dodgers are about to get swept at home by the Angels, lots of silly horsefeathers can happen in a short weekend series.

    I'd assume Brujan starting these last two games is a "one last shot to show us something before we cut you" deal. The team tends to do this with the roster bubble guys.

    238 hitters have at least 100 PAs at AAA. Among them: - Owen Caissie is 1st in barrel rate, 15th in hard hit rate, 8th in xwOBA - Jonny Long is 18th in barrel rate, 1st in hard hit rate, 10th in xwOBA Shaw and Ballesteros are 6th and 18th respectively in xwOBA, but don't get there via gaudy exit velos.

    Ryan Brasier pitching for the second day in a row, so assume he rejoins the big club in Miami. Chris Flexen probably goes 2-3 innings tomorrow or Monday and then gets the boot.

    Luke Little seems fixed. No huge rush to call him up, but great to see.

    It usually costs less than you think. Reason being that team control for relievers is heavily discounted due to the crazy level of attrition. The Jason Adam trade at last year's deadline is probably a good comp, though Bautista probably nets a bit more. That trade was Dylan Lesko, a back of the 100 pitching prospect, plus two interesting lesser pieces. I'd expect something like this: - Pick 1 from our pre-arb SPs, excluding Brown/Horton - Pick 1 from the Iowa relievers - A teenage lottery ticket So something like Assad, Neely, Lumpuy as an example. This also presupposes that as he continues to knock off rust he starts pitching like an elite closer again. Because to this point he's been more good than great. Understandable coming off surgery but to return a premium like I laid out above he does need to get back to that level.
