  1. Unless he sneezes What a wuss
  2. The problem is they are the longest running franchise without a title (right?). At the very least, we are at 100 years of waiting and again 20 games under .500. When you make movies and episodes of family guy about sucking, you know you're a joke.
  3. Wasn't it Ozzie who so eloquently said "F the cubs?" "F the Cubs" means something different in Venezuela. Awesome =D>
  4. The Tribune Super....on a bike non the less, balance is tricky when you're drunk
  5. I've figured out a way to work with DustyLogic. What we need is all young lefty position player, then the will get to play because they will face rhp as Theriot & Co. only get to face lhp. We need some lefties so they get a chance....ha, stop us now Dusty!!!
  6. I quoted the whole thing, in case you wanted the answer, but it's pretty funny that even Tigers fans are referencing this as "pulling a Dusty". Funny, and Sad for Woody and Prior. Does public image mean anything to Hendry? The fans have been unhappy for 2 years now yet nothing is done but raising prices and not listening to the media and outside influences. Aren't we already the biggest laughing stock in sports, you'd think he'd try to make a splash to show he gives a cr*p about this team. DO SOMETHING
  7. the only reason Theriot did well was because Dusty put him in a favorable matchup dude. You gotta build up his confidence man! You can't expect a young guy to play back to back games.
  8. I just hope that local and national attention force them to look at another side of the coin for once.
  9. I'll be suprised if either are traded, I don't think Hendry is going to do a thing this year....just torture us with the current team.
  10. Is that you Jim?
  11. It's Clapton man....CLAPTON!
  12. I hate Van Halen more than I really like Skynyrd
  13. I went with Soundgarden as I honestly don't know much about the Ramones...
  14. Doors...no question about it.
  15. Dusty doesn't trust anyone with Red hair...nor do I! I like Murton, although I'm not convinced you can have him and Pierre in the same outfield along with Jones. I like that he gets on base, maybe the power will come around I don't know.
  16. Ask Hank Aaron, he doesn't make excuses...go ahead, ask him. Ask Darrin too, Daddy don't make no excuses dude.
  17. And sadly, what they did spend was not spent wisely. I think a big market team like the Cubs should spend every bit as much as other big market teams such as the Redsox or Angles. Why shouldn't we spend as much or more? 98 years and counting, I'd think we'd be in desperate mode by now to win NOW. I totally agree that spending money for the sake of spending is wortless as this team has proved, but an extra 15- 25 million a year would change the structure of this team substantially.
  18. What are the suppose to say? Of course they back the manager....then they support the new manager, just the way it is. Why the bother printing this I'll never know.
  19. I think you're giving Girardi a little too much credit. Miguel Cabrera, Hanley Ramirez, Dan Uggla, Josh Willingham, Mike Jacobs, and Jeremy Hermida were good long before Joe Girardi got ahold of them. I think it's impressive what's going on in Florida this year but they have some really good young talent. Do you think with the same players, that Dusty Baker would be doing as well? Or do you think he'd have picked up players like Tony Womack or Phil Nevin to take over for one of the kids after they struggle for a week? With their apparent ability to rebuild and scout talent, I think we should get their GM...or scouting director...not their manager! :)
  20. This year should prove to Cubs fans the folly of relying so heavily on pitching prospects who are good, but not can't miss ace guys. A lot of these guys have shown flashes and potential, but none of them have been ready to step up and contribute positively and consistently. As things stand right now, Prior and Zambrano are the only guys guaranteed to be in the rotation next season. I can't see this team re-signing Wood for the rotation, nor do I think Maddux will return. Lord help us all if Glendon is given another shot. That leaves three spots open. If Prior is traded, there will be four spots to fill. I don't think it would be wise to come into the season with at least two spots filled by rookie/young pitchers who are either unproven commodities (Gallagher, Wells) or who have only shown flashes at this point (Hill, Marshall, Marmol). That's a really dangerous proposition. This is why Jason Schmidt is a MUST for the Cubs this offseason. Isn't Jason Schmidt older and abused in the past...specifically by Dusty Baker? Although he'd probably require less years in a deal so stability would be nice.
  21. I saw that and was disapointed as well. This team needs to be run by a witch or something since we believe in hexes, curses, and the evil media curse.
  22. Especially with a lefty on the mound. Perez shouldn't be let within 100 feet of the field against righties, but against lefties, he should actually be in there. VS LHP Cedeno .177 .210 .208 (with 1 XBH the entire SEASON in 96Abs) Perez .328 .332 .517 I dislike seeing Perez in there as much as the next guy, but playing Cedeno against lefties is like throwing away ABs. The same thing happened last year as well in his limited time, so I don't think it's a sample size coincidence. I'm all for developing guys, but I think Cedeno has proven he struggles against lefties. Play him against righties, it amounts to most of the time anyway. At least we can use Perez in situations where he actually does something positive with the bat if we're destined to be stuck with him. By the way, here's the numbers against righties: Cedeno: .303 .325 .418 Perez: .185 .211 .239 If you're interested in scoring runs, I think it's easy to see that these guys should be platooned. In a lost season I'd rather have cedeno bat everyday...give him some experience. How is he giong to learn to hit lefties sitting on the bench??
  23. I hate myself for hating this team so much. I hate everything about it. I miss my cubs.
  24. At this point we are trending at a 58-104 year..I'm hoping for 52 wins which would be a cub franchise low as far as I can find.
  25. How does not getting a chance to close constantly effect his ability to pitch? I've never understood that. This magic switch that has to be turned on seems crazy to me. First its he's not in close games, then its he doesn't pitch enough. I think as cub fans we make too many excuses for players. I like Dempster, but he's sucked this year. 4 blown saves, era at 4 1/2, runs scored in half his innings...come on.
