  1. Man this Clase case is insane. There are 22 instances in which he led off the 9th with a waste pitch this season. They nabbed Ortiz for two. The catchers and coaches have to be in on it also to see this and not question what is going on.
  2. Porter Hodge should get another look with the big club, right? 2.4 ERA, he deserves a shot. Oh, never mind, that's a 24.4 ERA! LOL
  3. The numbers throughout the offense over the last 2 weeks are horsefeathers atrocious up and down. Busch, Tucker (don't care about the walks dude, you need to horsefeathers slug) Seiya, Happ, Swanson- have all been horrible. Pathetically slow to adjust. And it coincides with Busch going to leadoff. Counsell really horsefeathered that up. Yall still think our offense is so much better than theirs? You're letting the first couple months delude you.
  4. Cabrera, Bieber/Morton, and a power (30% K) RP would be phenomenal. Ill also be very happy if we can pry Eovaldi instead.
  5. All these trades going down, I cant believe Jed is just sitting on his hands again
  6. Our system kind of went from a B+ to a C- this season, even as Wiggins, Rojas, and Gallagher popped up and all but Alcantara has had a really good season. The warts are just too clear.
  7. Really interesting for me to read that Frey is the guy largely responsible for unlocking Ryno by imploring him to start pulling the ball. I guess I just thought the Cubs never had a progressive mind among them in those days. He was definitely my favorite Cub growing up, although I imitated Dawson's stance. I was too young for 84 but we do have pics of us attending a game in L.A. that year when we took a family vacation. Anyway, Ryno had the coolest nickname in the game. I always loved it, loved saying it with a little growl. I remember when he blasted a HR in Wrigley's first night game and then the game got rained out. My dad explained that the HR wouldn't count and I threw a fit. It was really weird when he abruptly retired, and it stung even more because Jordan had just done the same a little while earlier. That was a painful time for Chicago sports fans. RIP Ryno, one of my childhood heroes.
  8. I don't think Jed has much internal angst to get things done. The team is still in great shape to make the playoffs.
  9. Nico blew it. If he takes that walk then they pull Miz and would have to blow even more relievers. Boyd absolutely sucked tonight too.
  10. The Brewers moves for Priester and Vaughn have come up aces so brace yourselves
  11. The whole horsefeathers league is waiting dude. You act like he can just strong arm a trade. The sellers are waiting til the last minute as well.
  12. This is where Tucker needs to come through. At least smack a single and get a run in.
  13. What an annoying game. Still pissed at Nico for not walking. That would have been the end of his night. Now theyre getting to our ace again.
  14. 3B are pretty scarce. I'd include Horton but try to hold onto Shaw.
  15. They probably give up a guy like that if they get another MLB piece along with Suarez
  16. Shaw says it was his idea to open his stance lol How Cubs' Matt Shaw used faith, stance change to embark on hot streak | Chicago Cubs News https://share.google/VjRuPRptDc7OopPrv
  17. Thats a big duh for me. 3B are scarce and theres one having a monster year. He makes sense for just about every winning team.
  18. The Cubs let 2 very good LHP mashers go to other teams already in Grichuk and Rosario. Rosario would have been a really good addition to the bench/10th man.
  19. I am not confident enough in Horton, or Taillon staying healthy and effective, for that matter, to make the only rotation move be Alcantara. That is too much of a gamble. I think it would be a mistake to take Taillon for granted. I really believe they need to get a guy they can expect to slot right into a playoff rotation without concern. Horton and Taillon give me major pause.
  20. Those homers by Benintendi were served on a platters. Absolute meatballs.
  21. The thing about Wicks is that according to stuff+, 4 of his pitches are above average, 3 of them are 110+. I'd think teams would be very interested in him.
  22. Shaw has done what hes done in the 2nd half (331 wRC+, 2nd to Kurtz among players with 20 PA in the 2nd half) with a 96.9 contact% lol wut
