  1. Obviously let things play out, see if the recent surge from Russell can continue, or if Zo or Kyle come back stronger than ever, but as it stands, this team has 2 above average hitters and a rookie enjoying a lot of early success. The young guys have been so up and down. I'd love to have another 120+ wRC+ bat in the lineup. For the sake of curiosity, what would you guys expect Maybin to cost?
  2. True, I know that they loved Monty's curve and change. I'd love to get a look at their list of pitchers of that kind. We know they are all-aboard the curveball right now and I could see them targeting a fungible pitcher with a nasty one.
  3. Ok then. I still feel we could use another consistent bat.
  4. I've liked Maybin for a long time, but I have a hard time seeing the need for a position player unless they trade significant assets from the MLB roster(probably at least 2 players) in order to get a SP. Well this is my crazy scenario and it would squeeze Al out some but also provide insurance for if Kyle doesn't come back a changed man, so to speak. I am excited about what Al has done so far but more time in Iowa wouldn't hurt and Maybin is again getting on base at a super sweet clip. He would be able to play all over the OF. I know it's crazy but I would try to see about getting Fedde+ for Wade and Hector. The Nats need relievers bad or they will waste a prime season from their lineup and rotation. I would slot CJ in the closer spot and have Koji/Pedro/Dunce get the lion's share of the bridge work. I know that we can offer Wade a QO after the season but if we could hypothetically land a future rotation cornerstone for his services I think it's a worthwhile move. It would absolutely blow any deal we could have made for Soler, out of the water, IMO. Nats are gonna be bent over a barrel by somebody. Let it be us.
  5. Thoughts on what it would cost to acquire Maybin if the Angels fall out and shop him?
  6. Grandal is kind of a God among mere mortal catchers
  7. He had that little stretch after the oppo granny where he was crushing balls to LF-LCF but then he destroyed Harvey and it seems like he went right back to trying to yank everything.
  8. A microcosm of Kyle's problems this year was the last AB yesterday. They pounded him outside and he refused to just go with the pitch, instead waiting for something inside, which he promptly rolled over to the 1B. He has so much strength to use the whole field and he needs to start doing it consistently, IMO. I hope we are aggressive with Zagunis and throw him right into the leadoff spot.
  9. Verlander perfect through 5.1 but just threw his 80th pitch Dyson breaks it up with a bunt lol
  10. Agreed. But the total lack of small ball I think will keep us in mediocrity offensively. I'm feeling a lot better about the team as a whole but there are still several glaring weaknesses and batting average is certainly one of them.
  11. Or, 8% of the time he's come to the plate
  12. Butler wasn't exactly great himself. also he was over 90 pitches so it shouldn't be a huge controversy Those are good points and he did look like his usual ugly somehow effective self...
  13. Szczur has a good KBB with the Padres but he hasn't hit for horsefeathers.
