  1. Done after 7.1 on a batted ball up the middle that Max deflected into a cheap hit
  2. The thing with Tommy's defense is you pick your poison: either let 1 or 2 bad throws rear their ugly heads at 3B, or watch helplessly as several batted balls find holes at 2B. I think I'd prefer 3B
  3. LaStella has no business playing 3B at the major league level Didn't say I love the defensive alignment. TLS throwing across the diamond inspires about as much confidence as Lackey does on the mound. But I'm expecting to score a lot of runs.
  4. Came across this while reading about Kershaw's sudden home run problem. The author mentions Arrieta's rising HR9, and that 4 of the HR would not have been HR in any ballpark without wind aiding them. http://www.hittrackeronline.com/detail.php?id=2017_356&type=pitcher
  5. Bryant has an OPS of .904, and is still at .808 OPS in the month of June. Last year, when he won the MVP, his OPS entering June 21 was .898. His OPS entering June 27 was .877. He's actually walking more than ever too (15.9%, career-best was 11.8), and his .291 BABIP will likely move up to .330 or so (it was .332 last year and .378 in 2015). His K rate is a career-best 21.3%, though it was even below 20 a couple weeks ago. He's definitely pressing a bit right now and expanding the zone, as well as swinging through or fouling off hangers. But it just looks like a normal slump that happens for everyone (Rizzo goes through like 5 of these a year). He admitted he was dealing with some fatigue and Joe gave him that extra day off. He should be just fine, and will likely go on a tear soon. Definitely not displeased at all with the season he's having, but I feel in order for the offense to really get on a roll, we need him to click back into place. He's just not seeing the ball too well the last week and change. This isn't a doom boner, either. Just simply stating that one half of Bryzzo is on point right now and if the other gets back on track, our offense should really take off.
  6. Friars should call it a dub if they even get Rizzo out in the 1st inning
  7. Really pleased with Almora lately. Joe has been putting him in good position to succeed and he's come through.
  8. Yeah he was. Boo that man! I'll take the fall. [tweet] [/tweet]That's good stuff. I've noticed he's been putting a lot of first pitches in play. [expletive] I was really thinking Wade was gonna blow it. That was stressful.
  9. If neither Russell or Heyward are available then you only have a 2 man bench(Montero & TLS), and both are lefties with at least 2 more plate appearances left. I would've been alright with Arrieta hitting though. I wonder who the last pitcher to hit in 3 straight games is
  10. Didn't he literally have a 4 strikeout game within one of his last ~5 starts? Oddly enough, sandwiched around that game is a bunch of 0K games. Only 5 Ks in his last 28 PA and that includes that game.
  11. When your freaking notification headline cuts off after "Eloy Jimenez shatters"
  12. Not the greatest results but Happ is putting the ball in play much more consistently
  13. http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/the-cubs-are-looking-everywhere-for-an-edge/
  14. He probably will make every start, health provided. I think 45 or 46 is probably a good bet.
