  1. He's got some competition for sure. Sale looks vintage (2 ER 43:2 KBB in last 5 starts), Wheeler and Suarez are absolutely dominating, and Glasnow is on a near-300 K pace. It's gonna be a really good race.
  2. I'm sour on Amaya. If he can't curb his chases and start to do damage with a high fastball (theme of the team) then I doubt he will ever provide the type of offense we hope he will. And he is an automatic green light for pretty much every runner. I'm not sure good framing outweighs any of that.
  3. I was never cool with how easily we discarded Jeremiah Estrada after he showed huge swing and miss stuff and then had a little stumble on his first taste of MLB. Looking like a pretty decent miss by Hoyer. Closed for the Padres tonight and struck out the side hitting 98, sub-1 ERA so far. Hoyer gave up way too soon on that guy.
  4. He missed some pitches but honestly they got a Wrigley LCF special and a gift run from Seiya's gaffe. He was probably better than his line showed.
  5. You don't have to give up a XBH to start every inning Justin
  6. Gonna be a fun summer, these guys are gonna start getting shots with this depleted roster
  7. Personally it's always sort of bugged me to hear a player "finally broke out of his slump" when he hits a homer. I'm pointing it out here for that particular reason. IDK.
  8. Since he "broke out of his slump" with the walkoff he has been a 60 hitter with a 42% K rate/.15 BBK. I still think he needs a reset, but I don't think they would do it. He's deeply entrenched in that slump, though. Defensively he's probably gonna be fine. The team might want to get Cody more starts at 1B though.
  9. I think it's pretty apt. We passed on him for Moore and a shot at Williams. We declaratively chose Williams over all of these guys.
  10. So we get Stroud, Young, Daniels, Richardson, possibly Maye. Besides our divisional games those are the ones that interest me the most right now. I want to see Caleb outplay these guys. Is McCarthy gonna start right away?
  11. Is there any scenario in which you will trade a top 7 prospect for a RP? It feels to me like you are saying no.
  12. I doubt Jed would ever do what it takes to win a bidding war like that. Maybe he can pry Erceg, though?
  13. Oh horsefeathers I'm getting legitimately excited. Just last week he had only 1 HR but his numbers were a powder keg ready to explode and now he's blowing em up. OPS raised 100 pts basically to 943. BTW Murray went back to back with him
  14. For me my annoyance is heightened by the fact that only Tauchman and Belli would make it into the Brewers top 7 hitters. The fact that, Turang, Bauers, Sanchez, and Ortiz are all hitting better than 80% of our regular lineup and the Brewers have lapped us in position player WAR really grinds my gears.
  15. 3rd best team in the majors vs LHP and they have now covered all 17 innings vs us and thoroughly dominated us.
  16. Nothing but LHP thrown at us this series and they have completely vanquished us.
  17. I would start fining Madrigal for every batter ball over 20 degrees
  18. That's more stark than I expected it to be
  19. Totally expecting him to walk like 5 guys in his first outing with the Cubs
  20. He's in between, they said. Most likely he's in his head now and everything has snowballed. I don't see him breaking out of it any time soon.
