  1. I get the disdain for Bagent and these comments but damn have you seen Fields career numbers in the 4th qtr when one TD drive is all that is needed? It's pretty easy to see why Bears fans are skeptical of his ability to win NFL games. He has been god-awful. I just don't think those comments should bother anyone because it is extremely likely that Poles believes neither should start for the Bears next year and it's simply about playing out the string this year. I think some of you guys pay way too much mind to stupid people out there, though.
  2. You keep saying saddling us with bad contracts as if every other option in FA was going to be a terrible, crippling contract. So many media outlets had us as a good fit for Hargrave and we said no thanks. Don't you think it would have been a good start to putting a good DL in front of Tremaine Edmunds to sign Hargrave? Tremaine Edmunds was given 50M guaranteed and he has a 53 PFF score and 1 pick this season. He's doing nothing and Poles did very little to help him, besides the Billings signing, which has turned out to be a solid bargain dive.
  3. No Beef, he has been an F in Free Agency, and that is a large reason why the roster is so barren of good players. He punted 2 FA periods and left no option but to hit on draft picks, which is a seriously brazen strategy. He put his neck on the line as if he was Belichick. Only 2-3 of his picks have star potential, leaving so many starting spots taken by JAGs. He had plenty of resources to build a DL and get a pass rush. He spent too much on LBs, which are arguably the easiest position to fill. And his plethora of DBs look, fine. Not great but maybe decent. You're giving him way too much slack. He barely met the salary floor, which was a specific choice he made, and his roster sucks because of it.
  4. Who are these people you are referring to and why does their irrelevant opinion irk you? I mean if Georgie was coming out and praising those doofuses I could see being irritated, but are you just talking about radio personalities, or worse, callers? The organization is in a terrible spot. There is nothing to celebrate. Just glad we didn't slip in position with our top pick. That's literally it.
  5. I hope and think Perlaza gets a shot somewhere. He looks like a decent bat. Burdi's velocity is welcome back in Chicago. Jack Patterson is a name I haven't heard in years. He had a promising start to his pro career before the injuries took him down.
  6. Couple Panthers fans here saw the alignment and thought Eddy had it. It was never in doubt lol
  7. That doesn't portend good things
  8. Bears haven't won a must-win game since, what, the 2010 Divisional Playoff?
  9. Well, if we win, our pick gets worse, but the Panthers pick won't. It's critical to win this game.
  10. Hoping we go Herbert heavy and he lights them up. I'm pretty nervous about this game, not gonna lie.
  11. After Ohtani and Yamamoto I don't care if they go small in FA but they should definitely move some prospects for Soto, etc. They are perfectly positioned to make a splash somewhere.
  12. Shut him down after we beat the Panthers tonight
  13. That's pretty funny. Supposing they change it for every game; I wonder what else they got.
  14. Intrigued by the short guys. I think players of any size can put up monster numbers. As evidenced by Altuve, Betts, Carroll, etc. Just shape their swing as early as you can.
  15. Betts is a far superior player and was only set to make 27m when the Red Sox traded him. I think people are going to be surprised by the return the Padres get, although it's likely they won't settle for a headliner as weak as the Red Sox did.
  16. It still doesn't make sense. Like SD gets a better player because the player they are trading agrees to an extension? Soto's value at this point should be close to what Betts' was 5 years ago, regardless of what happens with his contract.
  17. Pretty pointless signing based on athletic upside and rare youth for a FA. We spent way too much on LBs and didn't even put a line in front of them to lessen the load. Really annoying.
  18. Man to add a LH bat like that 🤤 Double dip and trade for Soto, even if it's a 1 year rental
  19. I'm basically saying I have a sliver of confidence remaining that he will ever play well enough
  20. Fields just plainly puts his line and his receivers in a lot of lose-lose situations on passing downs. Is it fair to say that?
  21. I think there were many times where Ross would have helped the team by getting his guy out of there sooner. I think a lot of runs scored that shouldn't have, I think in particular Counsell handles the "in the balance" moments better, specifically when the order is rounding a 3rd time, and when a RP comes in and doesn't have his command from the outset. I think he's better at recognizing that and minimizing the damage.
  22. I would actually have Ferris in the 3rd or 4th tier. He's a 2nd round pick out of IMG, so he is no secret. He has the frame to add, a repeatable delivery (the walks came in bunches and sort of skewed the numbers IMO), he allowed just 1 HR, got plenty of GB, and teams trip over themselves for potential LH TORP. I think he is on the verge of storming through a system next year. AA by June and possible AAA promotion toward the end of the year for a playoff run or whatever.
  23. I think we could attribute some of those ERAs staying low to the fact that Counsell would yank them when he didn't feel they were gonna get the job done and wouldn't let them pass the 3rd hitter. He also preserves his SP in a similar fashion. He is acutely aware of the 3rd time through penalty and would pull the rug out right when he felt like the opposing team was getting acclimated. We saw this many times vs the Cubs. Right when it felt like we were gonna snatch the momentum he would call to the pen. Ross, contrariliy, really counted on his guys to escape the jams and too frequently it would backfire.
