  1. Good points. Hoping Jed pulls him, along with a LHRP like Puk. That could be a real boon to the pen.
  2. Morel has raised his line back to his usual 119. That BBK on the season is pretty awesome. If he can keep up the power he can be a 130+ guy. Has to keep laser-focused discernment. Even the fly out to end last night was 105 off the bat on an inside fastball at 99 mph. That was pretty impressive.
  3. I did not realize this but Shota is basically the only LHP to throw many splitters in a long time in the MLB. It is extraordinarily rare. Most hitters in MLB have literally never seen a splitter from a lefty. He has the chance to really dominate for most-of-if-not-all of this contract. It is an almost certainty - barring catastrophic injury - that the Cubs will pay all 5 years of his deal. That IVB freak fastball and the splitter are complete rarities. I would not be surprised if the Cubs ask him to play a sort of mentor role and try to coax some of his pitch qualities out of him and onto other pitchers in the organization. Like teach Wicks that fastball, please.
  4. I think Pressly would interest him a great deal. He has been incredibly consistent for almost a decade and he still controls the zone excellently, plus all of the postseason experience. I wish we had signed Robertson; similar in that long, consistent track record, short-term with a just AAV. Pressly does have an option at 15m for 2025 if he makes 50 appearances this season. Not sure if Hoyer would want to take that chance and make that commitment. But I like him a lot for our roster.
  5. 1. Don't give up contact 2. That is some really ****** luck
  6. Shota's fastball is tied with Glasnow's fastball for the most valuable pitch in the league. Interestingly and somewhat surprisingly, Assad's sinker is in a 5-way tie for 2nd.
  7. He should have hit for Happ in the 7th, even though Happ drew a walk. We needed a big hit there and they had the LHP in there who had only faced one batter.
  8. That was pathetic. Total meatball and he couldn't put it in play.
  9. Yeah wrong time to predetermine a swing decision. Now we get Suarez to stomp us out.
  10. I'd be surprised if Miami moved him while he's pitching the way he has been this year. Even coming off of a 2.8 fwar his stock has to be down. His walk rates are Jose Cuas laughs at this bad. They're probably hoping he can post a good month or two before they give him up.
  11. The short arm action would play a significant role in this, right? That is something that was always plain to see. And Ive felt like that short arm action has helped his fastball play up because hitters can't pick it up as easily and it "gets on them" sooner than they realize, effectively the same way a fastball from a pitcher with a long extension does. Am I just pretzeling here? Lol
  12. Probably the best Palencia has looked. Confident and dominant.,
  13. Busch had the walk on a silver platter and said nah no thanks
  14. The IVB and the extension stand out the most to me for Horton. Kinda low on both.
  15. Our big-boned 20 year old C is up to .973
  16. The greatest trick the devil ever pulled was convincing MLB orgs that you can actually protect pitchers
  17. Alzolay has 2 Ks over his last 6 appearances, covering 27 batters faced I believe
  18. Horrible choice again by Counsell I just don't horsefeathers understand. Nobody is having a hard time distinguishing his pitches.
  19. You horsefeathers dipshit. I hate the desperation to get to 3rd with 2 outs. That was such a dumbass play.
