    This is why I wouldn't spend months obsessing over mock drafts . At the end of the day you have zero control over what happens, the insiders really don't always know what the FO is thinking, and now you're all dejected because the draft didn't go how you hoped it would. Sometimes coaches want lumps of clay that have freakish inherent traits and we just have to trust that those coaches mold them into real assets. This also happens frequently when new regimes take over and sometimes they fall completely flat on their face. This one seems pretty questionable but we won't really know for a couple years how impactful the class is. We also have to consider the guys taken last year, like Booker, who could take a step forward in their 2nd year(s).

    Starting with his 2-HR game vs LAD he's hit 400 with a 92 EV, 50% hard-hit, and 26% barrel rate. 20 degree launch angle. 58% flyball rate. Basically hitting like an Aaron Judge who never walks.

    That was pretty crappy contact by Shaw on 2 of those hits. I think once we start seeing some consistent oppo power, then we can assume the mechanics are where they need to be. That's his bread and butter and we haven't seen much of it at all.

    The whiffs drop off precipitously for Palencia at the ML level. He needs to sharpen his secondary stuff.

    PCA's quality of contact is the 2nd biggest shock of the season after Kelly. I mean he got so unlucky against the Phillies. He was hitting rockets. That HR tonight looked a bit faster than 107 too.

    I went through the list of 4-HR games and interestingly, Scooter Gennett does not hold the record for fewest career HRs among the players with 4-HR games. He hit 87 and Pat Seerey hit 86.

    Defense needs to get back on track, too many costly blunders. The horsefeathers bullpen is assured to walk about half of the hitters they face so let's not keep allowing more free bases. Nico and Dansby need to get it together. The offense only scored 9 runs against the Phillies. That was hopefully a small blip. I can't be the only one feeling like they will play to the level of their compeition.
