  1. Cowles hit one off the wall the first time and just cleared it in his next ab.
  2. Bryant made too much and produced too little and that was pretty well known before the trade. He didn't have many interested suitors. The projections were not great. Nobody thought much of the package at the time and it was pretty clear last year that the return would be the worst of those deadline deals.
  3. I doubt they GAF. What's the consequence?
  4. Projections are fun but some of you guys are absolutely married to them. The horsefeathers Brewers outplayed theirs by like 10 games last year. The Turner add is largely about competence/"professional hitter" and his extensive experience. Maybe he can also help de-code the Dodgers slightly, who knows. To me that is definitely a signing that they feel very confident will hit well and help lead a team that is quite short on playoff experience. He's the kind of guy we should want influencing some of our younger hitters. Amazing approach, consistent, will get on base and produce above-average power, situational hitting.
  5. I think it's universally accepted that Jim Brown was the greatest RB of all-time. As much as I/we/Bears fans always want to push Payton, Brown is always at the top of the list. The man would have had 2 2K seasons in 16-game formats.
  6. Why hasn't any team signed the guy who has 7 consecutive years of being an above average hitter? Maybe he's hurt, IDK. 2 months ago he said he had absolutely no market and here we are about to start the season and he's never mentioned being linked to any team. It's a little strange.
  7. The difference based on projections is 2 wins. I believe it'll be more like 4. You really prop up projections as concrete. I see this as a 90+ win season. The defense is going to be insane and projections can never properly account for that. Look at the Brewers last year. The expectations for Shaw should be high. We shouldn't be so scared to throw him into the fire.
  8. Shaw to begin light hitting today
  9. They should probably just keep the guy who nearly threw for 4K and 30 TDs
  10. The Tucker move more or less gave them the division they haven't won legitimately in 6 years.
  11. They told him to minimize the contracts on the books for the new CBA so it makes sense.
  12. How is a RP who just threw 70 innings and struck out 1/3 of the batters he faced a waste of resources? Like, oop, he's 40 now, you can't possibly pay him.
  13. I know that the extension readings were alarmingly poor but I imagine that could be chalked up to injury. To me, I believe he is going to play a significant role late in this season.
  14. FTR I agree. Backup 1B isn't on my radar. But guys who consistently hit above average are. I also like Canha, but Turner can still hit, has a ton of valuable experience. Personally I don't mind the idea but I'd prefer Canha.
  15. God would you stop putting the fanbase down in every damn post? It's February 11th, how many good options do you think are available?
  16. There's gonna be a lot of ring chasing but I feel like the Bears and Commanders are gonna be the top FA destinations. You have your work cut out for you, Poles. The lines need a lot of work.
  17. Cease did not pitch all that well in 2023 and a rookie GM traded him for a dude who had absurd helium at the time. I think that should be accounted for. In 2023 he was healthy and accumulated the lion's share of his value through sheer volume. In 2024 he again pitched like a TORP.
  18. Is Schitts Creek making a comeback? They were all up in those commercials tonight.
  19. What friggin world do you live in dude. You're completely out of touch.
  20. If you really buckle down you can shred that baby fat in just a few months. So I am told...
  21. They need to sign him and not trade Nico. This WPA talk feels directly related to what you actually gain by adding him and trading Nico. It doesn't feel like they are too concerned if he doesn't sign with them.
  22. Even though I don't follow hockey I still keep sports milestones on my periphery. Ovechkin is going to pass Gretzky pretty soon. It's pretty crazy how close their goals/games is. Gretzky 894 goals in 1487 GP Ovechkin 879 goals om 1464 GP Pretty sure he's not gonna get 16 goals in his next 22 games but still that's wild.
  23. Said it before but I could see him Chapman'ing into a longer deal as well. Hes a really good bet to provide long-term value, he just has some kinks pop up recently that he might need to iron-out before teams are ready to go all-in.
  24. I wouldn't trade anyone either. Realistically Nico is the only guy you would want to turn to if Dansby is injured, that's incredibly valuable and could very well happen multiple times for all we know. I would also start mixing him into CF in case PCA just bottoms out with the approach. You wouldn't want to stick Happ or Tucker there. I am definitely feeling like I have been wrong about the team's approach to Shaw and they would prefer to let him get more seasoning (even though a 20 year old just netted a nice pick for their chief divisional rival); I disagree but it is what it is. They can make it work if they take a measured approach.
  25. The thing is, do you think Soto needed him? Anyone could have gotten that contract for Soto. Snell I'm less sure about.
