  1. Yup, quick healer indeed.
  2. This Bulls team is fun to watch.
  3. Technically, they traded Elton Brand for Chandler and picked Curry... so they never really had a chance at Gasol, since the Clippers owned the 2nd pick. And from what I read in "Boys Among Men" by Jonathan Abrams (about the prep to pro generation) Krause only made the deal for Chandler after Gasol was picked at 3 and he knew he could pair Chandler and Curry I'm pretty sure they had conversations (Bulls and Clippers) leading up to that draft. I think that line just shows Krause and the Bulls were fixated on pairing Chandler and Curry together to form their version of the "twin towers", except it ended up being a much worse duo. I don't think Krause was ever considering drafting Gasol... If what you say is true (and Memphis had traded for someone else at pick #3) then we keep Elton Brand and try to pair him with Eddy Curry??? That makes little sense in this counterfactual world and probably just leads to the same thing happening with us trading both of them eventually down the road. I believe Krause and the Clippers had an agreement in place, and he definitely could've traded Elton Brand for the #2 pick before the draft started if he really wanted Pau Gasol.
  4. One of my favorite players in the NBA and it sucks he came over to the Bulls toward the end of his long career. The Bulls had a chance to draft him way back when (the infamous 2001 NBA Draft) where the Bulls had the #2 and #4 picks. Jerry Krause was in charge and wanted to prove he could build a winner without MJ, Pippen and Phil Jackson... The Bulls took Tyson Chandler and Eddy Curry and started the "Baby Bulls" era. Which player was drafted in-between them at #3 in 2001?
  5. I can't wait for the Robo-umps to come and take over behind the plate. Joe West and his ilk can politely horsefeathers off and lose that responsibility (and I still think they'll horsefeathers up MLB games on other bizarre rulings/calls, unfortunately).
  6. Add Houston to that list too... Personally, I hope the Rays win it all finally.
  7. The news still sucks, but maybe he's a quick healer and returns in that 4-week timespan.
  8. http://www.reactiongifs.com/r/2013/12/om3i.gif I wasn't a fan of the Noah selection either. Small hands and just an average wingspan for a big, and was just such a super weird unorthodox player. I think pre-draft reports also got his makeup and heart all wrong too. I remember reading reports that questioned if he liked to party too much. The big thing for me was that the guy freaking shot the ball with sidespin on it... Anyway, I'm glad I was wrong and I might try to get tickets to this game.
  9. Yeah, I didn't think it was possible to get a decent 1st-round pick back for Lauri at this stage of the offseason. Pretty solid deal for the Bulls. I have no idea what the horsefeathers Cleveland is thinking by acquiring him though. They just drafted Evan Mobley with the #3 pick in this year's draft and he's their PF of the future. They also just signed Jarrett Allen to an extension and he's their starting center... So why would you invest this much in a backup C/PF? That doesn't make any sense.
  10. I think it's probably best to just bring Lauri back, especially at that low a price. I was really high on him after his sophomore season with the Bulls, and I thought they would work out an extension but they were too far apart. Great shooter and very talented for a big man, but last season was obviously pretty disappointing... and now it seems like the Bulls' FO wants to go with Patrick Williams at PF, or even DeRozan at the 4 in a small-ball configuration. Very excited about the Bulls and they should definitely make the playoffs (with better health/less injuries this year hopefully). If they decide against bringing Lauri back I'd be down for adding Paul Millsap as the backup PF.
  11. I did not know this was a thing (All-Summer League First/Second/Third Team)
  12. He was in the Epstein front office? Going to guess it was scandalous. I seriously doubt that... I've met him and talked to him a few years back. I would be very surprised if he were involved in a scandal. He didn't come across as one of those "party frat bro" FO execs, but you never know I guess. Very smart dude and pretty humble, and helped get Cole Hamels back on track with the Cubs. I also doubt he comes back to the Cubs... I can't confirm this, but I believe one of the reasons he left for Texas was to move up the organizational hierarchy and he knew he would never rise higher than AGM here. Same thing with Randy Bush, and I guess Jason McLeod falls in that same category too. Jed will be interviewing execs for the Cubs' GM position in the offseason, but I seriously doubt Shiraz Rehman is a candidate for that role. I wouldn't mind it and I think he would do a good job. I just think we will hire someone completely fresh from conversations I've had. Dan Kantrovitz might get the GM role, but they probably hire someone new (with no ties to Theo or Jed).
  13. I had this idea like 10-15 years ago (and it's not completely original), but I thought it would be cool if the Cubs created their own Hall of Fame wing in Wrigley Field somewhere or maybe in a separate building nearby. I'm a huge Ron Santo fan and I was always angry that he never gained enough votes for entry into the Hall of Fame (it's a damn shame that it happened posthumously). If the writers and people who vote for this stuff were stupid in choosing not to elect him, then the Cubs should just create their own Hall of Fame to honor Cubs icons/great players like Ron Santo. I think it's a cool way to honor great players that played for the Cubs, and players with résumés not quite good enough to get into Cooperstown. Yeah, Sammy also deserves to get in but I doubt that happens.
  14. No. But it makes it much less likely that it will be voided. Bucks lost a 2nd round pick over Bogdanovic last season and they didn't even sign him. I would expect a fine and a loss of a draft pick. I also doubt the deal is voided. Most likely a fine and a loss of 2nd-round pick(s) if the Bulls are found guilty of tampering. The NBA can't really stop these type of deals from happening, and I think execs will just get better at hiding the process/negotiations with agents/FAs in the future.
  15. Very happy for LaVine and I hope this leads to big things for him and the Bulls this upcoming season. He was a big part of Team USA's success.
  16. You two keep this childish garbage up and we'll just boot you both. It's getting old. I have no stake in this whatsoever, but Tom is rarely if ever the instigator here and catches way too much horsefeathers, IMO. If people don’t like him just ignore him. I’m surprised he doesn’t push back more, actually. From the game threads: I wrote that in the game threads a few weeks back. I was happy that Souza was DFA'd and my intention was not to come in here and yell at Tom. I don't normally do that. I usually just ignore his posts, NOLA.
  17. You two keep this childish garbage up and we'll just boot you both. It's getting old. Dude, I rarely ever interact with Tom here and everyone knows it. That was another stupid post.
  18. [tweet] [/tweet]I always enjoy watching this play lol
  19. I really wish Tim had just banned you when they were discussing it. Just move on to your next stupid idea.
