  1. I would prefer avoiding the Cards this year. I thought we were definitely better than them back in 2015, but this year the starting pitching/bullpen just seems too unreliable right now. Don't get me wrong; I think we have a strong chance of reaching the WS and beating every team in the NL, but we go through really difficult stretches where the Cubs look awful for a few days. NLDS: Arizona (Doubt they'll get in, but you never know) NLCS: Dodgers or Atlanta World Series: Oakland
  2. Eric Longenhagen wrote this back in July: I don't see it either. Seems fine to me, but they've mentioned that a few times in chats/notes. I think he's our best pitching prospect outside of a healthy Adbert Alzolay.

  4. Damn it. That really sucks. I was hoping he wouldn't need it. Guess he's just a DH next year.
  5. The offseason moves were not great, but not because of the Morrow signing. It's because of the Darvish + Chatwood signings and how little we've gotten from them. Letting Wade Davis leave and signing Morrow was the right thing to do. I guess we could've traded for another Closer, but then we'd be losing prospects/players.
  6. From the latest chat on Fangraphs: Dang, I didn't know they'd hire our very own Duke Silver to be their next GM. Good luck bro.
  7. Surprised no one wanted Mazzoni and that the Angels claimed Luke Farrell. I'm NOT surprised Z cleared waivers lol. Isn't Mazzoni hurt? He only had one outing between August 10th and the 28th. Not that a team wouldn't claim him but I think he has some sort of injury. Yeah, you might be right. I mean I'd still claim him if I were an exec for some crappy rebuilding team as long as the injury isn't too serious. If the injury were really serious the Cubs would just move him to the 60-day DL to clear up a spot like what they did with Zagunis.

  9. I hope Monty finishes the year strong. He's going to the BP come playoff time and might be the only good lefty we have in the pen.
  10. Indeed. 0.69 ERA for the month?

  12. We really need to end this Almora leading off non-sense. He might see a total of 10 pitches in 4 AB's. Definitely never have him hit leadoff in a playoff game. I'm fine with Russell batting ninth I guess. I don't expect him to do much. Maybe go 1-3 or 1-4 with a soft single.
  13. [tweet] [/tweet] Yes, because a player can never improve defensively once they're called up... What a bunch of disingenuous crap from these execs on the record.

  17. Yeah, he had a great year, but Kiley McDaniel and Eric Longenhagen said his body went backwards this season and looks a little soft. If true, I really want him to commit to losing a little weight and improve his conditioning. He's still really young so he has time to improve his body/get stronger. Just to avoid confusion, I don't mean stronger as in he'll be capable of throwing harder (he already throws plenty hard). I mean he'll be able to maintain his velocity and have better endurance over 100+ IP.
  18. I would too, in theory, but I just don't trust anyone with the first name of "Walker".
  19. Dang, it's already that time again? This minor league season has been pretty lackluster. Hopefully next season is better. Thanks Raisin!
  20. More Chatwood is needed http://media.tumblr.com/27faf07a6c2b072040efbee0aacfc706/tumblr_inline_mouovf1BzO1qz4rgp.gif "More Chatwood" pitching for the Cubs is never the answer to anything.
  21. Man, Eugenio Suarez is legit. He's hitting .295/.377/.562 for the year. If I were an exec for some team in need of a 3B I would try really hard to acquire him during the offseason. He even has a nice contract.
