  1. To me that means they should make a stronger effort to try to win it all this year because of the upcoming potential strike and roster turnover.
  2. Couldn't they have offered him a QO if he opted out afyer year 1?
  3. I'm disappointed but not surprised
  4. I got these two posts on draft ready to go. "Hoyer is such an idiot for signing Imai, he was bidding against himself. Nobody else even wanted him!" "Hoyer is such an idiot for not signing Imai, he was right there for the taking. He'll never land the big fish!"
  5. Speak of the devil. The White Sox are just taking shots at high risk high reward players and hoping someone sticks, as they should be.
  6. I think who signs him makes a difference too. Like if a contending team ends up signing him I'll be upset we didn't offer more. But if it's a bottom feeder team that signs him I'll assume the Cubs and other contenders just weren't interested. A team like the White Sox can afford to take a risk if he sucks.
  7. @Jason Ross do you have any theories on why Gallen fell off so badly last year? Looks like his velocity stayed the same. Is it a mechanical issue?
  8. Probably contemplating returning to Japan since the White Sox are the only team interested
  9. Is he? Ok then I guess this is more of a Murakami situation then where he doesn't have a lot of interest. We've heard more rumors about teams that are not being interested than teams that are.
  10. Does Murakami cost a posting fee too? This might be BS if so, I can't see Reinsdorf paying a posting fee twice. Although it may be out of necessity since top FA here wouldn't want to willingly sign with the White Sox and they aren't going to get into a bidding war for one.
  11. That's not a bad way to look at it. If the White Sox view him as an ace than nobody else does. They're one of the worst ran organizations in all of sports.
  12. If we get outbid by the White Sox....
  13. https://nypost.com/2025/12/28/sports/japanese-star-tatsuya-imai-reveals-hes-yet-to-receive-mlb-offer-with-signing-deadline-days-away/
  14. Gallen signing and a Shaw extension
  15. I think the Cubs are his preferred team but there's a mystery team out there with a better offer for more years. We're hearing the leaks about the Cubs not offering enough because Boras wants that news out there hoping they'll increase their offer. They won't. Then on like Jan 10 we'll hear news that the Cubs weren't that close and wouldn't go past 3 years.
  16. I wonder who the mystery team is
  17. We got 1 impact arm in the farm system and don't want to sign any impact arms to a long term deal. That's an interesting strategy.
  18. You think Imai would be willing to take a bi-monthly contract?
  19. Mooney: If Imai winds up matching the high-end estimates out there — The Athletic’s Tim Britton projected an eight-year, $190 million contract plus a $30 million posting fee — then the Japanese pitcher likely won’t be a Cub. This big-market franchise usually doesn’t win those types of bidding wars. While the Cubs are intrigued by Imai’s potential and are knowledgeable about his game, they don’t seem to be totally convinced that he will be a true ace worthy of that level of long-term investment.
  20. When Imanaga signed there was no news of him doing meetings. He had been staying in the area for a month and we didn't t even know til after he signed. The Cubs should put Imai up in a suite at Soldier Field tonight so he can feel the Chicago vibes first hand.
  21. If we hear a mystery team has emerged as one of the finalists than I'll believe we're near the end game.
  22. Some people are so bitter and miserable they spend all their time trying to bring people down to their level.
