  1. There is no indication the Twins are out on Darvish. I would say they are the biggest competition for the Cubs if Darvish is going for the money. Yankees and Dodgers need to make trades to get rid of money first.
  2. It can be done they just wouldn’t be able to do anything else before the season starts. I would be alright with Caratini as backup C. They don’t need another OF with multiple guys able to play different positions. Yes another reliever would be nice but to have Darvish in the rotation I would go with the current bullpen and see what they need come trade deadline time.
  3. I honestly doubt Levine said this. I think if this were true he would have put it on his Twitter or something. I Wouldn’t be surprised if the guy who claims he heard this got confused with something Levine mentioned. http://chicago.cbslocal.com/2018/01/02/cubs-2018-needs-additions-arrieta-darvish-cobb-yelich/ He brought up Cain a few days ago. Yeah I know he brought Cain up the other day but is another thing to say the Cubs actually have an offer on the table. With that said there is a poster on another board who heard the show as well and that póster said Levine mentioned the Cubs have 8 offers out between FA and trade proposals. Trade offers are for Archer / Colé / Yelich and Colome.

  5. Personally, I don't think their AAV's wind up THAT close. My guess at this point is 4/70 on Cobb and 5/140 for Yu. I'd still take Yu in that scenario myself. If Cobb costs that much I'd rather just grab Jaime Garcia or someone similarly mediocre on a 1 or 2 year deal. Cobb's not actually all that good. I agree big picture though. On the pitching front we've probably got two moves left, and on the position player front we're probably done but we'll look to be opportunistic. Darvish and a super cheap reliever in February looks like the smart money right now, but I could just as easily see something like Cobb and Reed. I probably start Montgomery than signing Garcia.
  6. I am not sure Jake is going to get more than Darvish but i think Jake has not given signs of coming down from his asking price and Darvish may have. That is why the Cubs are after Darvish now IMO. I think Darvish is the better pitcher going forward so if it were me i sign Darvish.
  7. Darvish tweeted a couple of times after that report came out and said he won’t make a decision before Christmas.
  8. Ian Happ for Brent Honeywell Who says no ?
  9. Looks like it will clear up around 9 or so. I think they will have a 9:30- 9:45 start
  10. I think it would be the best thing to do at this point. Wrist injuries are difficilt. Let him rest for 15 days.
  11. Rpsd has help righties to a 128 OBP thats probably the reason for this lineup.
  12. Well now that we know about Heyward having a wrist issue since the Arizona series i wouldnt have a problem with him going to the 15 DL and make sure that wrist is as close to a 100 percent as possible. Call someone from the 40 man roster up to take his place. They can survive 2 weeks without him. There is some talk of him playing tomorrow i am not sure that is a good idea.
  13. Ricketts said some progress has been made with Theo on a contract extension.
