  1. It gets difficult now . They enter this 13 game period up 5 in the loss column on Pit and St Louis . Can’t afford a 2-5 againts their direct rivals . With how streaky they have been and considering the pitching they will face the next couple of weeks , yeah seems like a very important part off the remaining schedule
  2. I understand what you are saying but I think they should be careful here . It’s nice that they trust Zombro , but I would like to get a pitcher for what he currently is , and not for what Zombro thinks he can be . Mariners are really good at developing arms and it seems the only one they are willing to deal is Hancock . That would concern me some . Again this is nothing against you or what you are saying , just a thought .
  3. I am just really meh on Wacha . I think he actually has 2 years left ( could be wrong there ) He is just really boring . I agree that Alcantara should be traded , but i would look for a fun young minor league SP pitcher or reliever with control . Get a more fun SP using Shaw / Ramirez / Ballesteros / Ayer’s / Rojas . Not all of them , you get the idea . Do something fun , not boring !
  4. This was talked about on another thread , but no . Even though I am not that high on Shaw, I think his former top prospect status , team control and versatility , should get you a better pitcher and one with more control than Wacha . I don’t care much about Alcantara and he should have been traded a long time ago , but even him I would hesitate for Wacha . I rather include Alcantara as a secondary for a younger pitcher
  5. Also even though Detmers had less control I rather deal for him . I have no problem including Ayer’s in that deal . . Alcantara can be on that deal as well , although not sure on his fit with Ana . They probably need to add more though.
  6. And I just don’t see a world where they can trade Seiya . He is just too important with the RH power
  7. I am not completely sold on Hancock but I guess the team control makes it fair for Shaw . Hancock not a FA until 2031
  8. My guess is that they are swapping Alcantara , who looks overmatched tbh . Maybe they like Triantos ability to put the bat on the ball better for a bench role .
  9. Yeah , Pirates are no joke man with that pitching . Right now I think the Cubs would shop in the tier below Skubal in the rental category . With that said if they go 2-5 i worst , they probably shop in the lower tier of rentals .
  10. The next 7 are defining games againts Pit and St Louis . They havent play well in the division and a bad road trip could be the difference in pursuing a 2nd tier rental or another Mike Soroka .
  11. Man they really needed this game . They will be facing some heat this weekend in Pit
  12. Thats just so stupid to throw a get me over fastball with a guy hitting under 200 next . That’s likely the game with the way Montero is going and the wind blowing in
  13. Yeah , if Webb were to be available , you pony up for him . With that said , all indications seem to be he isn’t . For some strange reason , I think the Giants see themselves competing soon . Not too sure that is going to be the case .
  14. I think those names have more upside than Assad . . The Cubs would probably need to offer really good prospects with Assad . Regardless I don’t think the Cubs are going after Skubal unless they get to like 3 games back of Milwaukee , which seems pretty unlikely
  15. Yeah, Civale is not a factor , he will be cut as soon as they have to clear spots . Asad will probably stay in Iowa starting in case of injury ( if not traded )
  16. Yeah I take a chance on. Gausman . The reality is that there is always risk and there is really no slam dunk trade out there other than Skubal ( they aren’t in position to do that . I would put Ryan behind but the questions about how much actual service time you will get from him , it’s a difficult trade to make
  17. So what’s your guess about how many moves they will make , considering all the injured guys expected back ? If healthy , these are the locks : Shota / Boyd / Cabrera / SP trade / Palencia / Webb / Rollison / Rea / Brown / RP via trade . Thats 10 spots right there and they have a group of guys / Taillon / Peterson / /Thielbar / Thornton who they have to make decisions on . Do they add a 2nd reliever considering this ? I know Thornton had been extremely lucky but do they actually dump him based on that ? Thielbar was great last year , and all of the sudden he can’t stop giving up home runs . Taillon and Peterson seem like easier calls to me , but it’s always difficult to cut a veteran like him . Do they trade Rea ? I am not counting Steele here , but I guess he could become an option too , but the reliever routine is so different than there is no guarantee he will be a factor and difficult to predict how effective he will be . I personally would add 2 relievers and figure it out later . If they have to cut Peterson or Taillon , so be it
  18. I think if they can get a SP with control , they’ will pursue regardless . With that said it is entirely possible that no pitchers with control get moved , just like last year . Their position will impact however , how agressive they will be on rental. Skubal won’t be a Cub it’s what I am saying Holmes does seem like a good fit with the Cubs infield behind him . They could take a chance on Peralta due to his familiarity with Counsell , but he has been really underwhelming . If anything it should lower his cost
  19. Those 7 game againts Pit / St Louis really important as they get closer to the deadline . Pit has Ascraft and Skenes line up
  20. But we have Civale now . If Peterson tanks Civale can go 4-5 if needed
  21. Obviously that trade proposal is ridiculous but I could see the Cubs going after Wacha . He isn’t great but steady at the least .
  22. Blue Jays are probably trending right now to selling imo , but always a hit streak away from things changing
