  1. Of course he's valuable, which is why he would probably get us some of the big name pitchers we've been discussing. I think you're totally exaggerating by saying "It would be devastating to go from him to Baez in 2018", when he showed that he was more than able to replace him when Russell was out with an injury. The defense would suffer at 2B, but not at SS. Also, there is some concern that his injury and off field problems might end up being a problem. Russell is literally the best or 2nd best defensive SS in baseball, Javy is not Even so "devastating" seems a little...well alot hyperbolic.
  2. Facing frontwards? Not sure I follow.
  3. Thanks for the input. I have been going back and forth on Martinez, so I'll ponder some more.
  4. So... https://deanblundell.com/rumor-jays-josh-donaldson-caught-cheating-toronto-reporter/ Edited: Removed the rumor stuff, felt a little dirty when I woke up this morning. If it's true it'll come out somewhere. I do want to trademark "Cindy Sandberged" as verb though.
  5. You sure your using the correct letter?
  6. Is that a Damon Berryhill signature I see?
  7. If I had to guess they probably haven’t been to a baseball game in years. How long ago was Lost? It's in situations like this that I miss Joan Rivers.
  8. Anyone want to weigh in on keeper options in a 15 team 8 keeper yahoo league? The bold are my current thoughts on keepers. IS it time to let Braun go off to pasture in lieu of someone younger - Garcia? Is Simmons worth keeping. Beltre's age worries me as does a big drop off from Gonzalez - but he's so versatile. I think I've given up on previous keepers Polanco and Carpenter. Are any of the pitchers worth considering? 9. Any surprise omissions? Inclusions? Who's the back-up catcher?
  10. I'm guessing a mysteriously timed injury. For the 40 man, it'd have to be a mysterious injury that puts someone on the 60 day DL.
  11. Counterpoint: He's got a chance to win a ring. Mccann's really the starter but was hurt for a bit. Avila played some 1B and DH, neither which will serve him much with the Cubs I imagine.
  12. I'm drawing a blank and I assume I'm going to punch myself in the head but who is Hernandez? What about Mauer? He was on track to be a lock - no? Now??? Bobby Abreu may disappear quicker than he deserves to.
  13. Anymore ridiculous than me recently realizing he is Clay Bellinger's kid? Fun fact: Bartolo Colon has faced both Bellingers in the big leagues. Funner Fact: Storm Davis faced Ken Griffey Sr. and Jr. in the same inning!
  14. Did he tattoo the t-shirt and shorts too?
  15. Too soon for the Kevin Orie comparisons? Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk Gary Scott maybe...Orie was ok his first year iirc.
  16. I'm in need of some offense in my Yahoo league and with Braun going on the DL, joining 4 other players including Heyward, and unlike the Diamondbacks I'm going to be forced to play Chris Herman unless I pick up somebody. The above 3 are the best performing players available. Morrison and Smoak scare me so I'm leaning towards Mancini but he has Jim Traber written all over him. It's probably a short term need so I suppose it's not that big a deal but it's Saturday night and I'm home so...anybody want to weigh in? If there is someone else - some phenom about to get called up - that's good too!
  17. it's right on that building behind him http://m.imgur.com/gallery/myUNLRH Maybe he meant to type clapping or perhaps clotting??
  18. Phillies just dropped a 12 spot on the Nationals in the bottom of the first. Record?
  19. ?? come on, that's solid hacking humor Yes It was!
  20. Like Dave Kingman or Steve Balboni?
  21. From a hypothetical perspective ... I think they would hav eto think about the first, with Baez and Schwarber showing they can succeed at the big league level. I think they might lean no on the last two, feeling like they are taking on too much risk. That said, I don't think the Angels deal Trout. There's too few organizations that can give them the quality bundle needed one-to-one, leaving alone the tag of "dealing the best player in the game entering his prime years" that would be slapped on them (And by most accounts, Arte Moreno is wary of that). A waste of Trout's prime ... but I think that's the way it goes for now. Only slim chance I could perhaps see a deal coming together is if the Angels are able to spin a third team involved to really get a huge bundle. In short, I'm thinking that to get them to ponder it would take maybe 3 or 4 young MLB players, something few organizations will give up. Schwarber, Hendricks, Soler?
  22. I said the exact same thing? Does he need special medical equipment while traveling? (Still? and he's got post season money coming his way.
  23. On the replay you see Zobrist running full out on contact and he never slows down - cliche alert - that's not going to show up in the box score but that run doesn't score otherwise.
  24. How could you not? Russell, especially, looked lost at the plate prior to yesterday. Players fall into "cold streaks" for various tangible reasons - some timing mechanism goes off, swinging at pitchers pitches, a breakdown in swing mechanics. It's not like he was hitting the crap out of the ball but right at the fielders. I feel better because it's possible he recognized some flaw and corrected it - he may still strike out 5 times tonight - but I feel better because at least yesterday he was making better contact - which for him has been an issue at times.
