I have to assume this is a stop-gap move; Moving a starter to the 'pen upon Lilly's return allows an innefective bullpen pitcher to be demoted rather than a starter. Since Z pitched most recently, he goes to the 'pen such that he is available for this weekend when Lilly arrives. In the meantime, Hendry works out a trade for an actual reliever involving Gorz/Silva. I don't know. I am just trying to give this organization the benefit of the doubt. I'm not sure why.
Aramis Ramirez is presently the living embodiment of this team. We should be pretty good, and yet we are sucking powerfully. Note: This is not to say that I am blaming the team's struggling on Ramirez. His hardship at the plate is simply emblematic of the Cubs' offensive woes.
I think Lou wanted to take him out, Z wanted to finish the 5th in order to qualify for a win. Lou was acting with the best interest of the water cooler in mind.
Having just followed much of this evening's Cards-'Stros contest, I have the following (obvious) observation: Houston is unbearably awful. Team stats: .223/.245/.294/.539 (prior to tonight's game. Those numbers are even lower now). They are giving starts to J.R. Towles, presently sporting a .167 OPS. Their best hitter is Michael Bourne. They have scored 0 earned runs in their past three games. Albert Pujols has more RBI in 2010 than their team. Their 3 hitter tonight was Pedro Feliz. I won't even get into the pitching. This is the most insufferably feckless team I can recall watching (note: I have wiped 1997 from my mind. Not just the Cubs, the entire year). Khalid Sheikh Mohammed should be forced to experience all of the Astros remaining games with his eyelids peeled back à la "Clockwork Orange". Here's hoping we can take 2 out of 3 from them.
But you don't care or pay much attention..... I didn't even think about him till I saw this thread. It took 30 seconds to look up his average. I am not rooting for him or against him. I just thought I would update his stats since nobody had. ^^shrugs^^ you sound like you really lack a sack While I realize MB is a "powder keg" topic on NSBB, I don't think peoriaman's position is as indefensible as many here seem to claim. I have not been following Bradley's season very closely either, but in the context of a conversation about his early season frustrations in the 4th spot of the Seattle lineup, referring to his poor batting line seems fairly innocuous. Just to be safe, we should probably question his masculinity for it, though.
I realize this is an entirely different debate, but I really have no problem with the Cubs building a shiny, new PNC-like ballpark. Re: GABP: I saw a series there a few years back (Marmol's first ML start) and I had a great time. Cinci isn't such a great town, but the ballpark experience was no worse than any other "new park" in the division. As far as Reds fans "trying to rub salt in the wounds of cub fans" after the games, that is the sort of thing you can expect to experience as a visitor to ANY ballpark in the division. And that DEFINITELY includes Wrigley.
