  1. Ramirez records the final out for the second straight evening.
  2. We're no longer getting no-hit by Charlie Morton. Yay.
  3. With that pathetic strikeout, Hill now has 5 fewer Ks (7) than Soto (12) in 52 fewer PAs.
  4. Gameday called lilly's 4th pitch to pearce "automatic ball". Although I realize this is probably some gameday glitch, I find funny the notion that lilly's 4th pitch in a sequence to any batter is, by rule, a ball. edit: that having been said, in every at bat thus far that the pirates hitter has taken the 4th pitch, it has been called a ball. Maybe there's something to this...
  5. Out of 16 NL starting C, Soto is ranked: 8 in PA 1 in OBP 2 in SLG 1 in OPS 1 in BB He's presently 2 PA ahead of Gregg Zaun, who has a .709 OPS and can't throw a ball 60 feet. He needs to start more. He needs to move up in the [expletive] lineup.
  6. While I don't like Baker in the 2 spot, he has hit lefties considerably better than righties thus far: vs. LHP: .320/.393/.680 (25 AB) vs. RHP: .059/.059/.059 (17 AB) The obvious caveat is sample size.
  7. Wait, all of the last 102 years? That was better than the 7 times during those years that they actually made it to the WS? In UMFan's defense, there were no playoffs for any of those. They simply won the league and went to the WS. That's exactly what I meant. I mean I'm sure 1945 was fun but there was no playoff run, just a 6 game playoff exit. That playoff run was just about as enjoyable as 2008's I'm sure. That series went to 7 games.
  8. Gameday is showing lee swinging at a pitch that is literally 2 feet above his head and 2 feet off the plate.
  9. At least he's in the lineup. As of yesterday, Soto was 11 out of 16 starting NL catchers in terms of PA. Despite that handicap, he's 2nd in walks with 1 less than the league leader (McCann) in 12 fewer PA.
  10. Soto hits 8th. He's probably growing accustomed to watching innings end from 1st base.
  11. Lowell is a free agent next year (may retire) and Beltre has a $5 million dollar club option with a $1 million dollar buyout. I could see Youkilis sliding back to 3B and opening up 1B in the next season or two if the right player is available.
  12. Wow. Amazing finish.
  13. Have the Nats used the same RF twice this series?
  14. You can't expect La Russa to throw his "player-coach" under the bus.
  15. Wind appears to be blowing out to LF. I think we win this one.
  16. Something leads you to believe he can be effective in earlier innings?
  17. I'm suddenly enjoying myself again. Chester Taylor is my new favorite Bear.
  18. This must be how it feels for our opponents to face Silva.
  19. 2008? If having to watch your third baseman put up an .855 OPS with 27 homers in the midst of an 86 win season is your definition of unbearably bad baseball, I don't feel that sorry for you.
