  1. It would be nice to have the team leader in OBP hitting a bit higher than 8... otherwise, I like this lineup.
  2. I don't know if this has been posted elsewhere, but as we are on the topic, Bob Uecker is scheduled to undergo heart surgery and is expected to miss 10-12 weeks of broadcasting. http://mlb.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20100427&content_id=9609948&vkey=news_mlb&fext=.jsp&c_id=mlb
  3. Matt Clement when he was with Boston. yea thats the one i always think of Pujols lining one into the face of Chris Young stands out in my mind.
  4. Comparing WAR over the past 5 years (so as to exclude Howard's incomplete first season), Pujols is worth almost exactly twice as much.
  5. You actually think our manager would play lefties vs a lefty? Im shocked Colvin is in there actually, because its usually right handed hitters 1-8 vs Leftys, but Im guessing Lou is rewarding Colvin for his good day yesterday. I suppose I should have said "hoped" rather than "expected".
  6. Mentioned this earlier, but I would have expected Lou to load up on lefties, considering Lannan's reverse-platoon splits: .257/.328/.384 vs. RHB (1451 PA), .291/.357/.501 vs. LHB (413 PA). Oh well. I have no major issues with this lineup (although Fukudome's D would be nice to have in RF).
  7. 5 years, $125 million for Howard? Pujols' asking price will have to be $27-30 million annually.
  8. Lannan has allowed a 1.330 OPS vs. lefties thus far (26 PA); another reason to hope Lou doesn't bench Fukudome tonight.
  9. An even .300 BABIP, 9% LD (29 ABs). Mayhap a bit o' luck. I'm seeing 14.3% LD% My numbers were from baseball reference as of early this evening. Perhaps they hadn't yet updated (or I may have misread). In that case, 14.3% isn't quite as far off. His numbers may be falling into line. Lets hope so.
  10. An even .300 BABIP, 9% LD (29 ABs). Mayhap a bit o' luck.
  11. I think this is the best thing for Samardzija. He is not going to be a starter. He'll be fortunate to be a decent middle reliever at this point. He needs to work on his 4-seamer + off-speed out-pitch combo and forget about 3+ secondary pitches.
  12. Ryan Braun is putting up '05 Derrek Lee numbers: .417/.478/.733. Here's hoping Macha moves him to the bullpen.
  13. I wonder, will tonight's performance will earn soto consistent playing time? What is his OBP at this point?
  14. HOLY [expletive], grabow worked a perfect third of an inning. I think Lou should leave him in for the 4-out save.
  15. Sori is on. Aramis and Alfonso have a "freaky friday" kinda thing going on.
  16. Now that Z is in the 'pen, Silva will turn back into a pumpkin.
  17. Well, we put a runner on third. Baby steps, I guess.
  18. He should have gone HOME!!!! BOOOOOO!!!!!! OK. I'll quit now.
  19. Thats what I was thinking, what happens if Silva or Gorz sucks today or tommorrow and possibly next week... The great white Shark could go into the rotation............ :banghead: I have to assume that if Silva sucks, Z will slot back into the rotation in Silva's place. I wouldn't be at all surprised if Lou continues to put whatever starter is struggling into the bullpen. I wouldn't be surprised by anything, at this point.
  20. Fast forward 2 weeks: Z suffers consecutive rough outings out of the 'pen, Lou loses faith in Z's ability to get people out in key situations and we end up with an $18 million David Patton.
