  1. Ok. I like Quade as much as the next guy, but this has got to stop: Hit him wherever you like, Mike, but don't call him "Cassie".
  2. This is starting to look like a hockey contract...
  3. Wow. Live by the steal die by the steal, I guess.
  4. Hey, at least we're making Harang pitch. Chase him and face what's left of their pen.
  5. Nice hit Reed, but don't believe your own hype, man.
  6. Really, of all the guys to "stretch out" for this role, why did we go with Russell? Minor league career 4.7 ERA and 1.4 WHIP? He sucked out loud his first time out as a starter, he's now sucked again his second time, giving up 4X as many runs in his 4+ innings of work than the Pads had scored against the Cubs in the last 21. He can't possibly start again can he?
  7. I think Pena should just attempt to bunt every at bat at this point.
  8. Their pitchers pay attention to runners while the Cubs' pitchers think the runner is a figment of their imagination. Veneble was almost halfway to second on his steal by the time the ball was going home. That and Venable could outrun Reed Johnson with his shoes tied together.
  9. Provided that steal call came from the dugout, Quade is having an awful inning.
  10. Not crazy about the hit and run with the pitcher. Just bunt from the get-go.
  11. Christ. We need Cashner and/or Wells back.
  12. By which I meant deep in the count...
  13. K. Fukudome rf D. Barney 2b S. Castro ss A. Ramirez 3b C. Pena 1b A. Soriano lf G. Soto c R. Johnson cf J. Russell p Thanks. Castro making Harang work.
  14. anyone have a lineup? MLB hasn't updated.
  15. Here's hoping this trend continues. Go Cubs and Nats.
  16. I read that Cashner and Wells were to be examined by Stephen Gryzlo yesterday. Wells has resumed playing catch, but I've found no news of the prognosis for him or Cashner. Anyone hear anything?

  18. Dusty led him to a life of crime. Sad.
  19. Of course, with the way this thing is going it's going to be all for nothing after the game goes 15 innings. Gah. You're probably right.
  20. Outstanding outing from Z. Way to step up and save the 'pen for tomorrow.
  21. Since this seems to be where discussion of Reds pitchers takes place, consider the case of Edinson Volquez: Volquez has given up no fewer than 2 ER in the first inning of every game he has started. As of the 5th inning of todays Reds/Pirates game: 1st inning: 29.25 ERA All subsequent innings: 0.95 ERA I'm to lazy to look up the WHIP or BABIP by inning, but barring crazy bad luck this would appear to reflect some kind of weird mental/preparation issue. I'm inclined to blame Dusty.
